Mexican Coke in a glass bottle, though my day-to-day soda choice was always Dr Pepper.

I've been on seltzer water for a long time now. If I want caffeine, I go for cold brew iced coffee, black and unsweetened.

I used to be TEam Coke, Then Team Pepsi, now I don't care. I just grab whatever is closest to my hand when I open the refrigerated door at the store. Either Diet Coke or Diet Pepsi. Both are not healthy lol. I drink it anyway.

Neither... Dr. Pepper :)

Coke is too dark and syrupy for me... It isn't inherently bad but I don't quite like how thick it is. It leaves a bit of coke-looking goop in your mouth around the top of the throat.

Pepsi has a great texture, but there isn't much flavor. The flavor itself also is bad, tastes artificial and manually sweetened. They don't blend it well.

Dr. Pepper gets the texture and taste right, a perfect mix of energizing and refreshing. It's very sweet, I love it. My favorite variant is the cream soda version, it's extremely creamy. It works well for a night time drink, for getting an extra hour of wakefulness in without feeling groggy in the morning.

Of course, I usually drink iced water, but with all that pure mountain water in my system it's only natural I include a sweet treat.

So which do you prefer? Or do you not care?

I used to be in the latter, but ever since Pepsi decided that I needed to be more healthy and switched their Diet formula away from Aspertame, it has sucked. Supposedly they switched it back, but only for the bottled, not fountain.

The problem is that most places that sell the bottled also sell Coke, so I can just pick Coke. But the fountain Diet Pepsi is almost undrinkable.

What made me start this thread is I went to lunch at BW3 today and since they are a Pepsi store, I have always been able to get Diet Mountain Dew. Not anymore. They say they can't order it and are waiting for MD Zero to arrive. :(

So what does everyone here prefer?
Coke over Pepsi.
Diet Pepsi over Diet Coke.

"Zero" versions over any of the above.

Diet Dr. Pepper above all.

By me, can find the 500ml bottles for about $1.30 $1.49 (just passed the store, inflation; $1.29 for 12oz). Haven‘t gone into a Hispanic grocery to see if can find a little cheaper. Only ever drink Coke when grilling up some burgers or such, so willing to pay the price.
There is a significant Latino population in the Phoenix valley/metro area so Mexican Coke is not hard to find. My local Walmart even sells it. But, left to my own devices I simply substitute Coke/Pepsi/soda for water.

Water is much cheaper.

Coke over Pepsi. Find Coke to be less sweet and with a little more bite to the flavor.
Yes, I've always preferred Coke over Pepsi for those reasons. Then came 'steakhouse syndrome', then came a Schaztki ring and an endoscopy to fix it and finally came Prilosec - for life.

Been making lots of effort in the last five years or so to stay off the stuff.

I grew up in a Pepsi home. Dad always had a 2 liter of caffeine free Pepsi in the fridge. But, reading this thread, I'm realizing that I've become a Coke guy in the last few years. They stopped making Caffeine Free Pepsi (at least where I live) during early days of covid and it never came back. Some time later I started finding Caffeine Free Coke on shelves and haven't really bought much Pepsi since. Favorites for cola:

Mexican Coke -- formulation with real sugar is solid but the glass bottle seals it. Like others, it's an occasional treat.

Sugar free-- Coke Zero Zero Caffeine.

Pepsi does indeed have more sugar than Coke, interestingly.

I've always preferred it. Unfortunately, not commonly available any more.

I prefer slightly warm water over any of the sugary drinks (Cola, Pepsi, and the rest) with any of my meals other than breakfast, plus a small amount of red wine, of course. Black or green teas are also welcome in the evening after dinner, although I have been choosing decaffeinated teas these days.

Yes, it's easily available. But…~$1.xx for one of those small glass bottles (or around $6 for a pack of 6) versus ~$1.xx for a two liter or about $3 for a 12 pack of cans.

Really?

I am paying $2.50 and I have to buy 2 or they are $2.99 at Kroger (Frye's) here in WV. Will have to see what they are in Cottonwood when I finally get there in less than 2 weeks.

Random ? Is there any place you know of down in Phoenix that sells UTZ chips? All they have up in Cottonwood/Sedona are Lay's.

I used the love the C2 or whatever it was called and Pepsi Edge ones with less suger but NOOOOOOOO they always discontinue the great product and keep the garbage until the end of time/

Do you remember Pepsi Light? It was lower calorie and had some lemon flavor added. It was one of the first "diet" drinks I could tolerate. Now I can't stand any of the originals except MD Code Red. And of course they disco'd the diet version of that. But there is a workaround at places that offer flavorings. Just add a shot of cherry to DMD and it's close.

OK, Last time I checked it was around $1.50 or so. My local Walmart (99th Ave and Camelback, right off the 101) sells them. They are charging $2.06 per glass bottle now.

As to the Utz, I've seen them every so often at my local Walmart. Usually in a center aisle display. Have not seen them lately, and it would seem that neither Fry's (Kroger), Target, Albertsons or Safeway carries them. Sorry about that.

Saw them in Fry’s in Prescott Valley last week. Caught many eye as I am not familiar with them.

Diet Coke, for the caffeine. There's apparently not very much caffeine in it, so I'm not as much of a caffeine addict as those coffee drinkers :)

Pepsi Max* is ~2/3 of the price over here, but I find that it keeps me awake.

*I think it might have a different name in the US; it's the sugar-free one.

When I was in College 88-92 they did the coolest marking poster of a skeleton holding a Jolt cola in from of computer CRT and said "Good Luck on Your Finals" and I thought that was coolest poster I ever saw!
