I liked how Apple called the iPhone 5 Black/Slate. 'Cause calling it slate reminded me of a slab and since it was black/slate it reminded me of the monolith from 2001, the movie.

One of the major reasons right there than won me over to the iPhone 5. ;-)

I was hoping Apple would continue to evolve edged look of 5 and eventually make monolith-like iphone. but looks like 6 is going for curves :(

Yeah, I'm not totally happy about that. Too much retro iPhone 3GS look for me. I may have to swallow hard when I get the 6.

I REALLY like the design of my 5.

Who cares about color?
It's the same damn phone regardless.
My friend wouldn't buy a 5S because they didn't have the color he wanted.
There are tons of threads here talking about color, including this one.

More than likely people will put it in a case and never even see the color.

Why do people care so damn much over something so stupid?

Google search the psychology of colors.

In short colors invoke an emotional response for a healthy mind (I say that because a flat/blunted affect or sociopaths may not apply) without a rational basis.

Its easier to relax in a green room then a bright red room. Gyms are blue a lot of the times as studies have shown heavier weights are lifted in blue rooms. Leaders will wear clothes depending on what they are about to say (for example the US president and his tie color).

Regardless peoples buying decisions are highly effected due to color, hence the reason everything comes in so many colors.

You mentioned you buy white cars because they have higher resale. Do you think the people that buy those cars are also buying them because of resale? Likely not, its probably because they prefer it.

And btw Silver cars have the highest resale. White leads with vans, SUVs, and trucks mostly because its a company vehicle color. Silver dominates, luxury cars, convertibles, coupes, sedans, wagons, hatchbacks, etc.

Top Three Overall Colors
Looking at the top overall popular colors in the U.S., for all vehicle categories, silver leads the way with white in close second, followed by black.

Silver - 23%
White - 15%
Black - 12%

I bought a silver car because it doesn't show dirt as easily. Plus I like silver, albeit I wish it was a darker silver (gunmetal) only because I like it more (emotion).

Do you prefer your onions grilled or raw?
Don't care? Please, find a hamburger chat board and start a thread proclaiming as much.

In that case, I'd ask him what his beef is.

OP is just trolling here, because every time someone answers him he doesn't accept it and comes with more questioning.

Dude, give it up, some people obsess over stuff that you don't, plain and simple. I would say that there is probay something little that you obsess over, but you'd turn around and say " NO I DON'T."

It seems like you obsess over people obsessing over the color of a phone. Just let it go. Why do you care so much to the point that it bothers you enough to start a thread about it?

You said it best, maybe it's not stupid, color is important for those that won't be putting on a case like me. :D

I agree. The amount of time and energy consumed thinking about Apple products or any man made products is insane. In the end none of this crap matters. Only a real douche would be talking about his champagne cell phone as he is on his death bed.

----------

Well why do they have to be so specific? Why not go and attach an adjective to literally every other color in their product line? Apple might as well buy out Crayola.

Because the people Apple caters to enjoy being sold. Adding fancy names to mundane colors is a way to 'church' crap up.

I don't ever think the limiting factor of a phone should be a color. I do agree it's nice to have a choice, but it's an insignificant one at that. Surely I'm not the only one who thinks obsessing over something like this is ridiculous.

For one who thinks color makes no difference you seem to be "obsessing over something like this"

Probably because it's not stupid to some people.

Really wish my 4S was black, but I bought it used from a friend who, for some reason, got the white one.

Can't afford, or should I say, don't feel like spending $600 for a new phone so my friend unlocked and gave me his 4S for $80 and it was white...

That's partly what I'm referencing. I have seen various theads saying "Gold this", "Silver that", and "Space Grey blah blah blah" etc. It's like a color cult. Why not just call the damned thing grey? Apple could call a color "****-stained grey" and people would totally roll with it and not notice how ridiculous it is.

Ehh...

Tbh I agree with the name 'space grey'. The phone isn't black, and it isn't the light grey that a lot of people associate with the word grey, or even a dark grey. But if you say 'space grey' than it conveys a darker colour that isn't black and it sounds cooler than 'dark grey'. :p

I did the same thing. I wanted a specific color of phone, the local ATT, BestBuy, etc did not have it so I ordered the one I wanted.

I'm just glad my friend didn't start a thread PMS'ing about my color choice. Ok you don't care about the color. Ok your friend does care. If the color doesn't matter then his choice to get a color doesn't matter, real world problems for those that can afford a brand new phone every year huh?

I don't buy clothes in colors I do not wear. I don't buy cars in colors I don't enjoy. Why would I buy a phone in a color I didn't prefer, especially when I can wait a bit and get it in the color I wanted in the first place?

I did find it crazy that on launch day the gold phones were going for 50%+ markup on the grey market. THAT I certainly couldn't justify. But when it's as simple as coming back in a week, or going to another store, why not get what you want?

Coming from the one who uses 3 phones daily.

Yep.

I'm not sure that I'm attracted to particular colours, but I'm certainly repelled by them. I can't imagine ever owning a gold-coloured anything.

Please just let your thread die. It's bad enough you made a post just to complain about people who value the color of their devices. Everyone has their own preference, it's not your business to judge anyone about it.

Why do people care so damn much over something so stupid?

Ever consider that its not stupid to others?

Why do car makers offer different colors, why do we paint rooms different colors. Different strokes for different folks. Just because you think its stupid doesn't make so.

I personally, like choice.

I don't really mind which color I get. I'll take whatever is in stock. This time I grabbed a 5s in the space gray, because I think a lot of cases look better with the black front of the phone.

I think basing the color of my car solely on resale value is trivial, I drive the thing everyday I might as well enjoy the color. See how that works?
