Who cares about color?
It's the same damn phone regardless.
My friend wouldn't buy a 5S because they didn't have the color he wanted.
There are tons of threads here talking about color, including this one.
More than likely people will put it in a case and never even see the color.
Why do people care so damn much over something so stupid?
Google search the psychology of colors.
In short colors invoke an emotional response for a healthy mind (I say that because a flat/blunted affect or sociopaths may not apply) without a rational basis.
Its easier to relax in a green room then a bright red room. Gyms are blue a lot of the times as studies have shown heavier weights are lifted in blue rooms. Leaders will wear clothes depending on what they are about to say (for example the US president and his tie color).
Regardless peoples buying decisions are highly effected due to color, hence the reason everything comes in so many colors.
You mentioned you buy white cars because they have higher resale. Do you think the people that buy those cars are also buying them because of resale? Likely not, its probably because they prefer it.
And btw Silver cars have the highest resale. White leads with vans, SUVs, and trucks mostly because its a company vehicle color. Silver dominates, luxury cars, convertibles, coupes, sedans, wagons, hatchbacks, etc.

I bought a silver car because it doesn't show dirt as easily. Plus I like silver, albeit I wish it was a darker silver (gunmetal) only because I like it more (emotion).
