My iMac sits by the window. This is what I see from my favorite armchair:

Which color (of the new 24” iMac M1) do you think will fit best in this context? I’d like to ask Colleen directly, but cannot get hold of her. She must be busy.

I am currently undecided between Green or Blue. I am also still considering Silver, reluctantly — only because I am worried I’ll get bored of the color over time.

(Btw the 27” pictured is old and needs to go. I’m posting this also to show that not all of us will just put the iMac against a wall and not care about the back’s color…)

Of all the colors I like the yellow best. Although to me it looks more orange (one of my favorite colors, although I usually call it tangerine). The one that they call orange looks like a reddish orange to me and is not appealing (see what I did there?). I think it would go good in this setting since it would brighten up the more sterile white of the surroundings.

Now if I had my druthers I'd have preferred Apple to have made a matte black version, with the logo a gloss black, and, of course, black bezels and matching accessories.

Maybe yellow so when one is sitting where the picture was taken, one could daydream that plant is a palm tree on a deserted island with the yellow iMac providing a sunny background. Play some ocean breeze sounds to heighten the effect…

I do be thinking the yellow would be the best looking choice for you; it would match the green plants well.
Personally, I love red, but yellow would work best in your case.

PS I’ll take that 27” off your hands if you want 😄

Provided you wanted a color, I’m not suggesting you the grey option. I agree with other posters, you need an accent of vivid color there, to contrast with the white of your shelve, and the green of your plants. The new green iMac is nice, but it doesn’t offer great contrast.

That’s why I’d choose the orange one. Red and yellow are the other options I’d chose, but the orange would look great on your room.

Thank you so much!

Yellow or blue could look great in that setting.

Of all the colors I like the yellow best.

Maybe yellow

I'd probably choose yellow if it were me.

I see yellow has a clear lead for now...

try yourself! Go near the bottom of the iMac presentation page with an iOS device. You can choose the color for a full size VR iMac sitting on your desk (better results if you have a LiDAR iphone/iPad). Hope that helps you make a choice :)

I did that -- countless times, but somehow it looks 'unreal' and not overly helpful. For example the yellow in AR is very different from the yellow in the promo shot in a real life setting... But thanks for the reminder!

I just tried and I can't select any color other than blue.

But as a whole, it looks totally fine. The people losing it over the design choices must have very, very problem free lives. ;)

Don’t click on « View in AR » on the top of the page, you have to go almost at the bottom, you will see the colors option for the AR. At the top, it’s just blue

I did a very quick and dirty job in Pixelmator Pro with the yellow iMac. The iMac is, of course, not to scale, and the perspective and color shading is totally inaccurate, but it might be a bit useful—not really sure. My suggestion would be, given that all of your furniture is white, I think that any color you want would complement your space well. I think having a nice, vibrant, bold iMac would really add pop to your space, so don't shy away from a cool color. More white would be pretty bland, I think.

awesome -- thank you for doing this! yes, I somehow doubt that the color will be that shade IRL but it certainly gives you some idea....

the replies here have successfully made me rule out silver, and brought yellow back into the shortlist. I didn't show the rest of the room but there are a number of things and paintings that would go well with the yellow, actually. I'm still blue-curious. Green too, but I don't like the minty shade of the chin and stand as much as the pale yellow...

Whatever I do I'll be sure to post a before and after photo to this same thread...

From a designer point of view, the only choice would be green. But Yellow can be a second choice...silver third
