I've got the same problem, and unfortunately tomorrow it's going back. The various colored hues make me feel like the screen is dirty. I've got the 16 GB Wi-Fi only version. Planning on picking up an iPad 2 to tide me over.

Same issue here. Half of the screen is yellowish, the other half is blueish. The screen color is uneven on white background and black text. As the previous poster mentioned, it's as if the screen is dirty. It's extremely annoying.

Imagine if all 3 million people who bought an iPad were told to take another look at their screens and see if they notice uneven colors, how many would wake up and realize they have defective screens?

They are in the matrix....

Was reading a book and i noticed half of mine has a greenish tint and the other half a reddish tint. It's going back. Dont know if I shut get a refund or a replacement. Is it easy to find one at resellers in the uk?

Will add a picture when I'm back at my laptop

I am no expert on this issue, but since this has been posted more and more, i figure i'll throw my hat in. I think it is a viewing angle thing. If you view the pinkish section straight on, the colors appear more neutral. If you view the middle of the screen straight on, the edges develop their respective tints - yellow and pink.

Try tilting the screen toward you in portrait and watch the pink creep up the screen. That says viewing angle to me.

That's an excellent shot of the display defect. Anyone that wants to know what people are complaining about need just look at this photo. Hopefully, Apple is paying attention to these garbage displays (from Samsung or whoever) that are being put in their product.

Mine is the same but again not as bad. I actually think its receding. The blue that is.

Personally, I think this is due to the antiglare coating on the new iPad screen. They probably changed the formulation to make reading in bright light better on the new iPad, with the downside being some off-angle tinting.

No way is it the viewing angle, I have this same issue and it is noticeable from every angle.

Starting to get frustrating. This is my second new iPad. The first one had yellow blotches. I'm not sure if this is due to poor QC as is common with Apple or if it's the case that the retina screen has not been perfected at this large scale.

Probably a bit of both. The new iPad seems like a half baked product.

I have the same problem, white is not uniform across the screen. Greenish on the right of the screen and reddish on the left. If you view a little bit further, you will notice it. I went to apple store to compare the ipads in there. The display set in the apple store is fine.

I went to swap for a new one after the apple staff confirm that my screen is defect. Got a new one from the swap and the screen is alright and white color is uniform across. I will advise you guys to go and change it. Open up the new ipad from swap and check it before you walk out from the store.

My old ipad 2 has warmer/yellow tint but it looks nicer that way and plus the white warm color is uniform.

Ipad 2 screen is brighter than the new ipad too if set to max brightness.

Thank you for bringing this up. I've noticed it much more on my new iPad during the past few days and I was going to start a topic just the same as this one.

I think that mine might not be as harsh as some others are experiencing -- maybe why it didn't stand out terribly or strike me as a big deal during the first week or so of owning it.

I do hesitate to take it in and exchange it though, even though I likely will. I have this issue, and one singular dead pixel that I was fine to stay with if there seemed to be no other issues with the iPad. I'm so happy with mine, otherwise!

I hesitate in part because the idea of getting one that's "worse" isn't too appealing. Also, there was a recent thread where someone mentioned taking in their iPad and he and the Apple store manager went through like four or five open boxes until that customer was satisfied. Yes, Apple's customer service is outstanding in mine and plenty of others experience, but imagining seeing (let alone being) a customer like that just skeezes me the fudge out.

I'm waiting for my new iPad. I figured I'd only have to worry about bleed and dead pixels.

That is a great shot. Mine has the same issue, but it's arguably a bit better off since its only the lower corner and not the middle of the screen like yours.

I think I'll just live with it since I don't really think it impacts my enjoyment of the iPad, and the battery and everything else is great.

I wouldnt mind if the whole screen was tinted as I have my laptop set to a warmer tone but the blotches of tint is just annoying. I haven't been able to enjoy my iPad since as the tint is all I can notice now. TNT are coming on Wednesday to collect it.

There is definitely an issue. I collected my 4th replacement today at the Apple Store in Glasgow UK and it is completely different. All white. No tinting when you change the view angle. And another strange thing. The back feels different - almost matt - my previous three had the trade mark brighter aluminium feel.

I check a good number of the others in the store and they were all fine in terms of screen and all had the same matt-ish back. Odd. Week 7 build too as were two of the others I've had.

As an update:

Coworker brought in a 64gig Wifi - screen was white and even. My corworkers finally believed me when I held mine and his up next to eachother. Such a sad, painful realization.

Oh well. Back to the store =(

Some people have had the same problem. I had it with the first one I got and I exchanged it. The second one I have now has a slight reddish hue on the lower left which is noticeable on white or light grey pages (like this page). Sucks that people cannot return or exchange in fear of getting a worse iPad. I think this should be getting more news than the battery or any other issue that the media has been talking about.

The Apple Store employee was stumped for a moment when I said I just wanted a refund. He wanted to know why, and I said "Look man, this is the 3rd one I've tried, they are all bogus. I compared it to a coworkers, and his was much better. But, I'm over it, I'll try again in a few months."

A real shame.

I also had the first iPod Touch and had the negative blacks issue, and returned that and waited another year.

Resurrecting this thread because I think it's the most clear and concise one on the green/pink issue.

Wanted to report that this issue still existed on my week 14 new iPad. Looked exactly like the picture in this thread - upper left green, lower right pink.

It was #2, and replaced a beautiful week 14 screen that had a bad chunk of black dust under the glass. So good screens should still be out there.

I had not heard of this issue when I unboxed #2, so I wasn't coached into seeing it. I instantly gasped at how bad it was.

Trying for #3 this weekend, if it's no good I'll be refunding and waiting awhile.
