ColorWare, known for its customization offerings for AirPods, Xbox controllers, Nintendo Switch components, and more, today introduced custom-painted AirPods 3.

AirPods 3 are available in a range of custom paint colors, including bright glossy shades, metallics, and matte colors. Every color of the rainbow is available, as are various shades of black, silver, and gold.

Each AirPod can be painted a different color, and the case can be customized in a different shade as well. Custom paint jobs for the AirPods are priced at $319, but the price goes up to $369 when adding in the case too. AirPods are priced at $179 direct from Apple, so getting a custom color is at least $140 more expensive.

Still, even at that price point, ColorWare is the only way to get AirPods that are not white because Apple still does not offer AirPods in black or other colors.

With ColorWare's painting, all of the AirPods 3 features remain intact such as MagSafe connectivity for the case, spatial audio, adaptive EQ, and more, and the paint does not impact the functionality.

Custom AirPods 3 can be ordered from ColorWare starting today, and they will ship out in about two to three weeks.

I ordered a pair and the paint wasn't settled yet. I didn't notice so I went into work with red paint gushing out of my ears. Before I could even figure out what was going on, I was tranquilized and woke up strapped in the back of an ambulance.

I had to foot a $5000 ambulance bill because of these earbuds.

Has anyone ever bought any of the previous ColorWare AirPods? I’ve never actually been able to find decent pictures of them, just their CG renders which naturally look perfect. If Apple refuse to give us decent color choices I would definitely go for some of these if the quality is good.

After the crackling issues with the Pros (which shouldn’t exist here due to absence of ANC), I’d wait it out a while before plopping down that sort of money only to have to swap them out with Apple for a new white set in a few months.

Very expensive. I guess when you have money bags that heavy you don’t concern yourself with a warranty. You just re-buy if anything goes wrong with them.

I’d be quite interested in colors if Apple did them and they were molded in that color of plastic, but to pay hundreds of dollars extra to get colors that will show the white underneath if they get scratched? No thanks.

They don't even need to get scratched.

Just your body sweat and oils can cause damage to the paint.

  • CAUTION: The body’s sweat and oils can range from neutral to moderately acidic. Sweat and oils that are more acidic may cause damage to the paint and finish of your ColorWare customized Apple AirPods over time.

I haven't seen the Airpods in person, but I got the Bose QC35s from them several years ago. They came out looking amazing, just like the pictures. And the color has withstood lots of travel, wear and tear.

I got a pair yesterday, they sound horrible, one of them made a hissing sound today.

Are you sure it's the paint, not your ears bleeding out? ??

Those red ones are fire. Digging the green and purple as well but don't think I'd wear the purple. Too rich for me but wish apple would do some OEM coloured options.

Colorware are masters at their craft, and have been around a long time, so there’s no question about their reputation.

The problem is, charging such a premium, [mostly of which is labor], this is just not obtainable for consumers to spend that kind of money. For the people that would specifically custom color their AirPods, is probably less than ~1% of owners.

Wow, the matte versions look nice!

Wait, what? How is that possible? More details...

Iv had colorware airpods before. Garbage quality. Paint easily chips peels. And they have horrendous customer service
