It's totally beyond me why the are white only. I see these and immediately think how much better they look. The white is horribly ugly.

The white reminds me of 'Hospital sterile'. But they do this as it's brand recognition. Well.....

While not of personal interest, I have always thought - from afar (never seen their work up close) - that it looks like some quality craftsmanship. From a production standpoint, I'd be curious to see their process.

I ordered a pair and the paint wasn't settled yet. I didn't notice so I went into work with red paint gushing out of my ears. Before I could even figure out what was going on, I was tranquilized and woke up strapped in the back of an ambulance.

I had to foot a $5000 ambulance bill because of these earbuds.
Yeah the same happened to me, but as i’m living outside the USA ,it cost me nothing in ambulance bill..

These look great for a few months but the paint starts to slowly flake off. They also shipped me AirPods with busted microphones and they were useless on phone calls. They replaced them but after about a week the microphone on the right AirPod went out again. They refused to replace it. They look cool but for what they charge their warranty is garbage and the paint doesn't last and messes up the AirPods.

That...sounds like something else. You might want to get a CT scan or MRI on your head.

This service has been around for over 4 years now, yet I have never seen these in the wild. Granted, I live in podunk NorCal, so I’m curious if anyone else has seen them out and about.

It's not for me, I don't care about Airpod color, but I have to admit, it looks like an impressive paint job.

I lust after those red AirPods. That looks a lot like the oh so yummy Soul Red paint color on Mazdas.

does anyone know the coloring process that colorware uses? is it some sort of powder coating?
The coating is a proprietary process that involves quite a bit of labor. It is not powder coating. And it holds up very well in use.

Has anyone ever bought any of the previous ColorWare AirPods? I’ve never actually been able to find decent pictures of them, just their CG renders which naturally look perfect. If Apple refuse to give us decent color choices I would definitely go for some of these if the quality is good.
If you check out their gallery you can actually see real images of their final products. https://www.colorware.com/gallery

Colorware are masters at their craft, and have been around a long time, so there’s no question about their reputation.

The problem is, charging such a premium, [mostly of which is labor], this is just not obtainable for consumers to spend that kind of money. For the people that would specifically custom color their AirPods, is probably less than ~1% of owners.
How many AirPods do you think they have customized over the years?

Imagine losing one while catching a subway ?‍♂️

People loose all sorts of things. Our lost and found room at my company (far less crowded than subway) is always stuffed with all sorts of things that never get claimed. I have been using AirPods since 2016 and never lost any.

It seems pretty obvious you are a Coloware employee. I have no reason to post what I posted without it being factual. And I will be happy to post photos of the paint flaking. I will have to find them as both microphones on the Airpods stopped working and I couldn't use them anymore and your company wouldn't replace them even though they were less than a year old. But hang tight, I'll find them and post a photo for you.

Hopefully with Jony Bland leaving Apple will start to return to more vivid colours for their products. Very tired of washed out pastels.

Choose other colors. There are so many options.

Trolling much?

With all due respect, irrespective of whether you are affiliated with the company, or are an employee, your responses seem a little rude. If customers state genuine issues or concerns, surely you would take this on board and offer a solution if at all possible in order to keep that customer base intact. Customers are an important tool in spreading the word and generating even more sales after all, and in your position I would think very carefully with regards to your responses on a forum where you could potentially have millions of possible buyers reading..... This is your ideal opportunity to highlight what you customer support is really like.....

The user above highlighted a genuine concern. I assume the painting process would void the original Apple warranty, so are they still warrantied via Coloware?
If buyers are paying over $100 extra for the paint job, but then lose their warranty entirely (as demonstrated by @DMG35 ) or have any less of a support service as they would from Apple direct during that 1st year warranty period, then that's a pretty important factor to consider when deciding upon the purchase.

They don't have any renders in their gallery. All real images. Their stuff is top quality and they have good customer service.
