1) thus my brackets i know they were "thee richest" but just in case there was any doubt or that changed i gave myself the wiggle room.1.) Actually, Apple is thee richest company in the world.
2.) Everyone knows Apple could produce multiple colors for every product they offer, but they won’t do that. Why? Because they’re not a ‘cookie-cutter’ company that meets every request the consumer wants. The AirPods is an example that they can still sell millions of these units without having to offer a second color, simply because they can.
I think what Apple went for in this product category is uniformity, probably. Everyone easily recognizes these things from afar - like any other Apple product. And I do recognize that other Apple products have other colors apart from white, but the earbuds have looked more distinct in their single color.1) thus my brackets i know they were "thee richest" but just in case there was any doubt or that changed i gave myself the wiggle room.
2) they don't have too, but its a move that opens them up to clones and knockoffs so their potential loss.
as you point out, they can still sell millions of these units without having to offer a second color
but you have to admit its them leaving money on the table.
if there fine with that as their actions demonstrate, then so am I.
that said i have legit airpods pro currently but just like i did with airpods 2 once a feature-complete version comes out i won't hesitate to buy an alternate color at a fraction of the cost of the original.
one could point out that the O.G iMac's,iBooks, G3 etc. or colorful iPod Mini's etc were also easily recognizable from afar and iconicly Apple.I think what Apple went for in this product category is uniformity, probably. Well, I don’t see anything detrimental to Apple here. Apple is selling loads of these. You could argue about the foregone sales of not having different colors, but there’s no statistical proof other than people coming on forums like this one to complain. I haven’t heard of anyone in person complain about the color of their AirPods, but rather loads of affection for these. I could care less. I would rather have my Jabra Elite 65t paired to both my phone and iPad at the same time. Looking forward to the 75t.one could point out that the O.G iMac's,iBooks, G3 etc. or colorful iPod Mini's etc were also easily recognizable from afar and iconicly Apple.
lets face it Apple didn't want to do it, but recognizably and whether its iconic or not isn't the factor because practically everything apple makes becomes recognizable and/or iconic.
previous multicolor devices and also apple's obsession with new watchbands, a new flagship iPhone color most years etc. shows they understand the want for color/personalization.
they just choose not to for some things even to their own detriment
Just crazy to me that they can charge $140 more for $1.50 worth of paint. I get labor is involved but this is just frivolous.
They probably remove the ear tips and that's it.But didn't ifixit say they are like humpty dumpty and can't be put back together again?
No doubt some YouTubers will have it done just to make a video to show them off 😂So many comments from people who think their opinion must mean something LOL. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean it’s bad or can’t be liked by someone else. That’s like all the people that say iPhone or Android phones are garbage just because they don’t like them. For someone that wants AirPods that are colored this is an option. Just because it’s available doesn’t mean you have to buy it so if it’s not for you then just don’t buy it. Personally I wouldn’t spend extra money for colored AirPods but I can see someone doing this
But you have no problem with Apple doing the same with something like RAM and storage? Or are they exempt?Just crazy to me that they can charge $140 more for $1.50 worth of paint. I get labor is involved but this is just frivolous.
They’ve learned from Apple charging excessively for everything.A $140 paint job for headphones, what a steal!
You were correct, it is frivolous.Fixed it.
The market for self focused narcissists who think the world is not only looking at them, but also gives a **** about the color of their stupid ear buds knows no bounds.
It’s no longer luxury, it’s called taking the p.You do know you're are posting on a luxury brand's forum ?
exactlyou could argue about the foregone sales of not having different colors, but there’s no statistical proof other than people coming on forums like this one to complain.
But you’re not entitled to steal.exactly
i have no proof just like Apple has no proof when they do their one sided comparisons on phones without headphone jacks being more popular, people want thinner and thinner devices to their detriment, people not caring about devices battery life, people not caring about repairability etc.
until there is a Product A and Product B direct comparison its all educated speculation.
all i can say for certain is ive bought more knockoffs, done more hackintoshing etc. and my average yearly apple budget has gone down significantly, as have others based on Apple's disinterest in catering to its customers.
as i mentioned ive come to piece with that and they are clearly not going broke anytime soon.
i just believe it would be better for both sides if they weren't constantly ignoring there user base.
also because of their arrogant anti-customer stance on many of these issues I tend to have little sympathy towards them when they complain about any of those kinds of things, but just like them im entitled to my option.
didn't claim I was .But you’re not entitled to steal.
I was referring to the hackintoshing.didn't claim I was .
the fact is I'm not stealing, i pay for every original as well as every knockoff i buy and follow all applicable laws in the jurisdiction im in.
the US is not the worlds dictator and doesn't get to decide China's laws, if they don't like them then, conquer them not just complain about it.
i could atleast respect the right of conquest, but who are you to imply me following the law is a bad thing.
honestly this is probably my most far-left outlying position but frankly i think Canada and the US would be better off if we adopted China's free flow of information policies when it comes to copyright and trademarks.
it would make the market forces try harder to compete for customer loyalty and give more choice to your average customer none of which are a bad thing.

What about custom engraving?
