I was referring to the hackintoshing.
I'm a EULA's breaker sure, but in most countries EULA's are not legal documents or even enforceable by laws many include law breaking provisions.
I own real macs with Mac OS(paid for it several times in the past prior to it being free) i have more than 1 single user licence yet i am jus one person/user.
from a legal standpoint i'm fine no mater what i put my one license on to, if they don't like that thats there problem.
i don't like the semi-legal shady tactics they and others like them use either.

Btw next Friday I’m placing my order for matte black. My son really wants my XM3’s and loves the fullness of mids n bass they provide since he composing music.

Well, I don’t see anything detrimental to Apple here. Apple is selling loads of these. You could argue about the foregone sales of not having different colors, but there’s no statistical proof other than people coming on forums like this one to complain. I haven’t heard of anyone in person complain about the color of their AirPods, but rather loads of affection for these. I could care less. I would rather have my Jabra Elite 65t paired to both my phone and iPad at the same time. Looking forward to the 75t.

Some us still do not like pressing buttons into our ears; how does it feel for you? Jabra is great for microphone use when they really puts it and I’ve not heard of how these sound for calls to the other parties or during iOS Memos app recordings. Do you have a review - PM me. Thx

The reason why Apple didn’t offer any Other colors than classic white is because of brand marketing pure and simple.... they want shee..... I mean customers to noticed and see the actual product in use... so you can buy a pair yourself

I think I want a pair but I really like my Powerbeats pro... I’ll wait a few months until you can get $25-$50 bucks off

Marketing lol really?!

Apple AirPods v1 the first person they showed in the first comercial was Black very dark skin tone. Notice no close up? Everyone else did. People of all cultures have various skin tones, Apple was very careful to avoid this.

white released in products first is a statement. It’s not marketing assomeone else pointed out in iPhones, iPads, MacBooks, and iPods especially. The iMac comes in 1 colour. iMac Pro, Mac Mini comes in 1 shade yet the Mac Pro does not. Any major product that’ll get heavy marketing usually is shown in white of a light silver first n foremost by Apple. MBP,MBAbarely need major marketing they sell well on their own.

Apple is making a statement.

$400 for disposable headphones.

Keyword: Disposable.

Some of us have disposable income to spend/enjoy the product in a specific color we want. Given AirPods aren’t updated that often with at least a three year shelf life, I’d say the cost is negligible if one uses the AirPods on a result basis for a custom color.

The market for self focused narcissists who think the world is not only looking at them, but also gives a **** about the color of their stupid ear buds knows no bounds.
Judge not lest ye be judged.

ColorWare, a company that designs custom-painted Apple products, today began offering custom-painted versions of the AirPods Pro, a little over a week after the AirPods Pro first debuted.
They're also coloring PowerBeats Pro.

Ah the irony. Spoken by someone who calls themselves BigBoy. Do you have small D complex too?

Hmm my comment was general, but you felt so tweaked by it (apparently) that you decided to get personal. My dear man, I think we found thee.

Of course you do. Who picks out your clothes? You? Then why’d you pick that color shirt? Or the one that says something on it? (Or do you have a shirt with text on it just for your own reading pleasure?) Do you ever shower or brush your hair? Do you have manners (when you’re not safely anonymous on the internet, I mean)? All this and more affects how people see you. If you say you don’t care about any of it, you’re kidding yourself.

Even if you didn’t, you think you’ve got everyone figured out. And they can’t possibly be above all that like you are, right? You know precisely why every single ColorWare customer wants to get headphones painted: image. And you’re so full of hair-trigger scorn about it. Have you ever in your life had a choice of what color in which to buy something? Why’d you pick the one you did? Not image? Obviously you’re too enlightened to care about how you’re perceived, so it must’ve been just personal preference, right? But apparently that’s not remotely possible for a ColorWare customer because you’re you and they’re them.

You make good arguments, and I agree. We all, to a certain extent, do things because we feel ‘conpelled’ to present ourselves a certain way.
I do however, think theres a reasonable limit to what we should do to make ourselves look ‘better’ to others.
if theres a guy who pulls up to you driving a $200,000 tesla, wearing $500 sunglasses and gold chains on his neck, looks over at you and shakes his head as if to say ‘I’m the man, and you’re not’ ... what would you think of that guy?
I’d guess (hopefully) you’d regard him as a tool who thinks he’s hot **** because of the things he’s purchased.
So there’s a point, I inagine, for even you .. that the brandishing of consumer products by people give you pause, make you think ‘this dude is completely misguided’.
So yea, maybe your bar for what makes a ‘consumerist tool’ is a little higher than mine, but that bar is still there.

I HATE the white plastic look of AirPods, but was DAMN HAPPY the night I dropped one on the floor of an airplane. I lost one getting to train one night and was able to back track and find it. Were it not white, who knows. Yes, it really stands out - justified for a 4g device worth so much? Lose one 4g AirPod, out $200. Almost exactly the price of 4g of gold.

Just crazy to me that they can charge $140 more for $1.50 worth of paint. I get labor is involved but this is just frivolous.
$1.50 and a bit of time/waiting is a lot better than $140, but some people just can't stand getting their hands dirty. Only reason these things are profitable.

Sorry, didn’t have time to look for the PM button. About pressing buttons into our ears, I would say it is all BS from YouTube reviewers. How many times do I change volume when I’m listening to music? I can’t even remember, because I hardly ever do that. To pick a call or pause/music only a single press is required. And it’s not like the earbuds is like a pencil with a single straight shape that keeps going in the more you press it. The cans cannot go inside the ear hole, only the tips do and they have a fixed length, so I don’t know they see it. Call quality is superb. I haven’t used it for the Voice Memo app, but with 4 mics it couldn’t be any better.

I still disagree. What makes someone a jerk is being a jerk, not buying something expensive. If that Tesla owner goes around lording it over everyone because he thinks it makes him superior, it’s the behavior, not the car, that makes him a jerk. If that same guy donated 15% of his income to charity before helping an old lady with her groceries (and he never shakes his head at you), the car doesn’t still make him a jerk. You’re equating ownership with contempt. One can bust oneself working hard all one’s life and treat oneself to some of the finer things, and that doesn’t make one a jerk. Acting like one’s better than someone else because of material things makes one a jerk. It’s wrong to assume that someone who prefers black AirPods, or a Ferrari if they can afford one, will automatically act that way. One might even argue that you’re the one acting judgy because you’re deciding what someone is like based on something they own. If that person came up to you and said, “What kind of cheap loser doesn’t rock painted AirPods,” I’d be right there with you.

No, they pretty much throw the paint in for free. You're paying for the time and expertise to disassemble them, paint them, and put them back together again so that they still work properly.

It'd be so much nicer if Apple would offer this kind of service (choose your own colors), and paint the pieces (or even better, mold them out of the desired color of plastic, so it isn't a paint that can be scratched off), before they're assembled, by Apple. That's a service I'd be sorely tempted to pay for.

Hi Carl, I do believe that there will be some color options offered by apple in the near future. I do not know if there is an upcharge for that, if someone does know please step in :)

With that said I'm in the way too expensive for what it is camp ;)

I'd rather strongly expect that, since they didn't offer multiple colors upon release, if they do offer other colors it won't be until mid-product-cycle (i.e. at least six months from now). If they can't keep them in stock in white (and this appears to be the case), there's no reason for them to give themselves the added inventory/manufacturing complexities of multiple colors now.

Looks like the top latch has come off 👀

Bravo! Well spoken!! Now I know how to state something similar without invoking a stern disciplinary action. Thank you for helping me grow.

I'm sure they only offer one color because it would create a huge inventory problem. What colors should they offer? How many to produce in that color. Separate manufacturing line for each color. It's just a manufacturing nightmare to manage production and inventory of different colors.

No. As a quick visit to the website would've told you, they offer sixteen different colors in three different finishes, glossy, matte, & metallic. There is no inventory. You buy the APPs from them, they get them and paint them, and then ship them out.

I suspect the person you're replying to was speaking of Apple's lack of color choices, not what ColorWare is offering.

Maybe, but first post in 4 months in a thread about ColorWare’s AirPod Pros... You could be right. That’s the trouble with undefined pronouns, darn it.
