iPad "Air" and iPad mini now have the same exact specs save only for size. And the Mini is $100 less.

Seriously, who wouldn't go for the cheaper of the two? Besides, the pixel density will be higher on the Mini meaning it will look even better than the iPad Air.

Sorry, but now that both devices have the same specs, who would be interested in the larger iPad Air?

Edit: I personally don't give a rat's ass. I'm only curious why Apple would release two products that are so similar.

I imagine it would be the same people that are interested in either a 4in or a 5in iPhone. Choice is great!!!

People that want a larger iPad.

People that want to present photos on a larger screen, use it as a Video player in a car, or have a larger screen for other similar purposes.

There is a market for different sized iPads, similar to there being a market for different sized phones.

Uhmmm, isn't that why the Android fanboys are bashing Apple? They dance around with their 5 inch phones and 20 inch tablets.

I'd take the bigger iPad anyday. ;)

I want the larger as my eye sight is not what it use to be a prefer to edit my photos on the larger iPad.

I am getting a bigger iPad, I like the size it's just perfect especially now with the smaller bezzel. Stop projecting your own opinion on to everyone else.

The "Apple killed their product, by doing x" has been done before, you and those before you are wrong.

Larger one for me. I don't see the point in a mini. I have an iPhone, I have an iPad. Why would I need anything else?

Uh, me? Sorry to burst your bubble but some of us like having a bigger screen. It's more comfortable to use, easier to read, gives bigger touch targets and is an absolute god send when it comes to stuff like photographic work or, god forbid, sharing your screen with someone else.

I'll still be getting a Mini Retina for work mind as there I want portability over everything else as I need to schlep it across a quarter mile campus in traditional British weather so fitting in a jacket pocket is essential. But for my own private device it's the Air every time.

1. Pixel density wil be higher? Do you know how Apple's retina works?
2. And to your second question...um those that want LARGER SCREENS MAYBE?

I'm more interested in the iPad Air because it's got a bigger screen, obviously.

what I don't understand is carrying along the iPad 2. I mean, I do understand it from a business perspective... they want to sell MORE iPad Air models so they'll make the alternative an antequated piece of <hardware> to force you to buy the newest and spend the money.

I wonder if this is going to become a trend. Iphone 6 release they'll announce they're stringing along the iPhone 4s or something and killing off the 5, 5s, and 5c. What they'd probably do is iPhone 6 and 5c and THAT'S IT. We will see....

interesting move by Apple none-the-less

Wut lol. Did you even think before you submitted this thread?

I guess we can expect a lot more threads like this. Im leaving...for now. I can't take this. lol

LOL. You won't be able to see the pixels on the mini even more than you can't see them on an Air.

Umm... Me?

I like the large screen. Web browsing, video, and reading are all better on the full size. only downside was the weight which they just fixed.

I will also. I don't like the iPad Mini. It's too small for me. I only bought it because I traded my iPad 2 to my sibling. That was a mistake.

He's right, about the screen anyway. The Mini and Air have the same 2048x1536 resolution, giving the Mini a higher density display (326ppi vs 264, respectively.)
