He just posted that he isn't waiting for 4.1 and that also 4.0.1 should have no problem being jailbroken. I just updated and am going to save my shsh before I miss another chance to do it.

Don't get too anxious. He updated the SpiritJB site to say it will be released when it's done, so apparently still some work or testing or whatever left to do.

I think you will see it's one jailbreak for all devices (Like Spirit was)
Besides that, the iPad 4.x.x firmware won't come out until like September...so no new tool is required, yet.

Why would we need to have SHSH blobs saved if a jb comes out though? I know what SHSH blobs are for obviously but we don't need them just to jb.
Yea that sounds misleading. Probably just trying to get the message out that saving your SHSH blobs is good practice.
It was always obvious that the jailbreak was going to work on 4.0.1 though
If u need to restore it back to 4.0.1 for example. After the jb apple will prob release 4.0.2 for example patching the jb exploit and if u ever need to restore your phone you won't be able to restore to 4.0.1 but 4.0.2 and thus losing your jb and unlock. Get it why shshs are very important to have?
Because a userland jailbreak isn't too deep rooted to support the "once jailbroken, always jailbroken" approach the iPhone Dev team likes to take. In other words, Pwnage style approach.
So that when apple updates to fix, and tgons of people update impulsively.. they dont loose their jb.
Because his new jailbreak will most likely not work with 4.1, and if you don't get your 4.0.1 SHSH on file before then you could be forced to upgrade and lose your ability to jailbreak. Getting your SHSH on file is never about today; it's always about the future.

Anyone reading the comments on spiritjb.com? All these imposters posing as comex stating July 31st is the release date. I guess that's what he was referring to.
so can i update to 4.0.1? and if i do, can i then save the shsh for 4.0.1? without over writing the 4.0 shsh?
You can save 4.0.0's SHSH in another place and have 4.0.1's. Either one is fine.
All right I don't really know what all these saving SHSH blobs means but I'm on 4.0 with my iPhone 4 and used tinyumbrella to save my 4.0 SHSH blobs to cydia. So what do I do with that? Also I heard I can't get to my 4.0 SHSH blob or something? Should I update to 4.0.1 and save that blob? Sorry I'm really new to the whole SHSH blob
There is no reason whatsoever to upgrade to 4.0.1. You can save your 4.0.1 SHSH without upgrading, and 4.0.1 has absolutely no advantages over 4.0.
