Yeah yeah yeah, my phone is the bomb.
Anyways, with me having to return my note 7 for the SECOND time, i decided to take this rare opportunity to switch to iOS. Im kind of excited in using a completely different phone. Any advice you guys have for me?
I'm exactly in your position having just left a Note 7 which I absolutely loved to an iPhone 7+ Matte Black. I don't care what the Android haters here say, the Note 7 was an amazing device with incredible build quality. There were no other 'flagship' Android devices when I had to switch as neither the LG V20 or Google Pixel are available and I was forced to move. I personally don't like the S7 Edge as it has a bit too much 'edge' and doesn't hold well in hand for me. The Note 7 was perfect in that regard.
I've owned 'smart phones' since 2005 and it was the best I've had to date. The camera was stunning and I'm hoping the iPhone will deliver in that regard. I've had iPhones from Gen 1 to 4 and kept iPads all the way, but jumped phones to Android for Nexus 4, HTC One M7, Note 3, Note 5, then Note 7. I know Android well.
IOS will be different... just accept that. The workflow isn't the same. Whether that's ultimately good or bad for you will be personal preference. Full stop -- you're going to lose a lot of the flexibility of Android. Period. In return, you'll largely get a much smoother experience and better battery life. Which is more important to you is subjective. I consider myself a 'power user' and sorely miss much of that flexibility. IOS takes a lot more clicking around to get the same day to day tasks and shortcuts done... gone are customized launchers the ability to practically share anything. No file system explores, no "I don't like this -- let me change it", you're kind of boxed in. Again, the trade-off is buttery smoothness at (nearly) all times and longer battery life because background tasks are a lot more limited.
Personally, I think the 7+ is a great device and I'm happy to have it for the next year or more. That said, I'll see what Samsung and Google do in 2017 or early 2018. I'll miss many aspects, but will make up for it in others and that's a compromise I'm willing to make. You'll have to decide on your own what works for you, but they both excel in given areas.
Keep an open mind for at least a week and see what works for you. Good luck!
