VZW phone: Black with a glass front and back running iOS 4
ATT phone: Black with a glass front and back running iOS 4.

ATT can do voice and data at the same time and its data is faster then VZW. VZW promised to downgrade media, and slow down the top 5% bandwidth hogs.

Got to love Verizon "Unlimited data!

Posting this from my VZW iphone and not have any data speed problems at all. The difference, if any, is negligible. It depends on your area though and AT&T sucks in my area (los Angeles)

Can't wait to get mine tomorrow. I'm in L.A. too and used to have AT&T which was horrible for me and pretty much 99.999999% of the people I know who have had or still have AT&T. Yet, some people here will still claim that their AT&T service in L.A. is "perfect". Weird. Delusional? Denial?

Or they actually don't have problems? Weird.

Idk why people are complaing or bashing AT&T's data speeds because i have never had any problems with them and i live in ABQ. Look at these speeds from a couple hours ago. I got 5.1 Mbps up and 1.29 Mbps Down.

Does the viPhone have the same limitations over 3G as the AT&T version? Specifically, are you still limited to 20mb downloads for apps and music downloads?

If you have received your VZW iPhone today, can you compare the download and upload speeds on the VZW iPhone?

Compare AT&T saturated iPhone network to Verizon barely there iPhone network is a little misleading at this point. When Verizon has the same amount of iPhone users or even close to the same amount of smartphone users on their network as AT&T, then any test would more accurate.

I dont think verizon has a seperate network for iphones, im sure that they will pick up some traffic, but think about all of the crackberry users and droid users that have been on it forever.

there is a finite number of people that will drop the coin for an iphone, and somehow I would imagine that initial rush was taken to ATT years ago. some who have droids or BB's will switch im sure, but its still a phone consuming data on the same network.

I expect to see a performance hit at the end of the week when others get their hands on one, but I would compare it to the gym at the 1st of the year, the initial few weeks, its jam packed, but then it goes back to normal....

I have had numerous carriers, currently on ATT in the DC Metro Area. Had to switch from Verizon to ATT because the service was beyond POOR for Verizon in my neighborhood. No issues with ATT.

As far as the iPhone goes, i have had the iPhone since the 3G came out...and with other original iPhone customers on ATT with the ability and comfort of Surfing/Emailing while on a voice call, will have a hard time adapting to the limited CDMA serivices on Verizon. Though the Voice covereage may be better in some areas.... it will be hard to adapt to these limitations. For current verizon customers, the iPhone 4 is an EXCELLENT upgrade.

:apple:FTW

Hopefully verizon LTE/4g wannabe network will get better and allow this.

"iPhone saturated" network I was referring to was how heavily AT&T has iPhone users on their network compared to any other smartphone. AT&T has in the neighborhood of 45% of it's users with smartphones. Verizon only has 15%. Those numbers have been floated around here and on various sites with the coming ViPhone. BB data usage doesn't even compare to Droid data usage. Another study released not long ago on the MR front page. That's my whole point. Right now Verizon doesn't come close to AT&T as far as smartphone users let alone iPhone users. It's a fact that iPhone users use more data intense applications.

All I'm saying is that it's WAY early in the game to compare. I've got one person in this office that got their ViPhone compared to well over 100 AT&T iPhone users. It's kind of hard to compare right now.

1) ok so if you have both phones in a decent signal area what phone would have the fast data connection ?

2) This is my only fear that i may switch to Verizon and the date will be slow as u know what....

3) But is it as slow as edge on att ?

I currently have both AT&T and Verizon iPhone 4 models for comparison, since I was already using both carriers. The other thing you need to know is I live in a huge major metropolitan area with great coverage from both carriers, so it's an ideal testing ground.

My objective is to keep the iPhone 4 that works the best, and sell the other. I'm carrier neutral so frankly I don't care if it's an AT&T or Verizon iPhone I just want the one that works the best. Especially when it comes to calls.

1) The AT&T delivers much faster data but we already knew that.

2) While slower, the data delivery to the Verizon phone is acceptable.

3) No

4) Call quality and clarity is just a bit better on AT&T, but again I expected this as my work BlackBerry on Verizon is a bit muted as is the new CDMA iPhone.

Again not a really big deal, just not as good as AT&T.

I rate these two as a tie.

They are both as good as it gets for the iPhone 4. I am totally convinced that if Apple will put the antenna back inside the next model like other cell phones do, then we will have the very best smartphone of all.

Right now my Androids on AT&T (Captivate) and Droid X (Verizon) make much clearer calls than either iPhone. That's not to be critical of the iPhone it is simply the truth.

Cheers... :)

First I would say it's a tie however I did a field test of AT&T iphone and Verizon Droid X and found to get more consistent 3G internet from Verizon. However we have heard from AT&T iphone users in NYC that 3G internet coverage is terrible certain time periods of the day. (I called 4 AT&T stores in NYC and asked if there were issues cause I'll be going there on business and each one said that I will experience slower 3G than I'm used to in Philly but no issues with 3G?)(I'm waiting for 2 cousins to call me back that live in the Village and SoHo to see if they experience what I've seen posted)

Second I'm convinced the iPhone issues are not ONLY network related like you pointed out about the antenna.

This proves nothing, other than the obvious which has nothing to do with the phone and everything to do with what area of the country you are in. Each carrier has good and bad coverage areas.

I hope not. I have not heard of this, does anyone know? I use Dropbox app and download home videos( between friends.. )with it.
