Im a psychological expert... ^^ does this matter?
i am raised in an environment where things you read about was everyday life for me. aswell as i have an education in Computers and whatevers and a keen intrest in everything scientific since i was 5. so what???....

a produkt introduced to a market should be usable to a standard of the human limitations. you wont make a steering wheel with 2 big gaps at top where your suppose to put your hands. wouldnt it get VERY annoying since you have been tought and gotten used to having ure hands there?
the problem has gotten this big cause apple has denied a obvius flaw in their design and wont admit it either. in their press conference they ended with something like. "so you see there never where an antennagate"
and patronize us with that and like to a small child you can give a bit of candy just cause they will get sad otherwise apple are giving us free cases.

THIS is why people make a big deal of this.

Well you're still human, and psychology is the study of the human, so it doesn't really matter what you've studied because I've studied YOU.

thats why i say its all in your mind. you just solidified it by bringing up the "denial" argument as if because the way Apple dealt with it is what makes it wrong. wronger than the wrong with the antenna.

They are not patronizing us, the majority of us are quietly happy with iPhone 4 because we know its a non-issue just like Jobs' initial reaction was. He did what he did because the media monster got too retarded and he had to act professional. But in the end, the majority of his customers are happy without needing to be brainwashed. Its the anti-apple machine that did all the brainwashing. So much that he had to concede and respond because everyone is trying to dethrone the king. But his followers are fine, we didnt need any coaxing.

No offense to you as a person but quite frankly, your brand of conversation style is not one that I particularly care to partake in.

The reason I am stopping this short here is because even though I was obviously not calling anyone specifically a prick, and was doing more of a rolling narrative in general, you tried to flip it, signaling that you are either trolling or so dense that you didn't comprehend the sentiment I was trying to convey therefore it doesn't interest me to have a friendly debate with you.

Good day sir.

I realise that the term "don't be a prick" applies to everyone and not a specific person in this thread but you seem to hold yourself in such a high regard that the "problem" isn't a problem for you therefor everyone else should just be quiet about it and "Just avoid holding it there", despite the fact that Apple themselves has released press imagery and video featuring how not to hold it? How do you explain this?

You seem to hold the general populace in such a low regard I don't know how to take you and you seem to not want to accept any evidence people will produce. Quotes like:
"low-brow simpletons"
"all they understood was "it no work good""
"Seriously, it made me so mad I gave him bad customer service."
"So dont be a prick, hold it how it wants to be held."
"you are either trolling or so dense that you didn't comprehend the sentiment I was trying to convey "

Quite insulting and belittling of the populace IMHO and it appears to have had some kind of personal effect on you.

I do think there is a design flaw when in certain situations (low signal areas) which wasn't helped by the incorrect reporting of signal strength by Apple to make AT&T look good which sadly came back to bite Apple in the arse. On the flipped, I also agree (and know) that signal quality will degrade when an antenna is obscured by hands. My Dell Streak exhibits exactly the same type of problem as the iP4 in certain situations but can not be produced everywhere I go.

Your beef should be wholly aimed at the media machine who have turned this into a page hit generating cash-fest, not people with genuine issues. The media vultures have feasted on this carcass for one reason, MONEY and made it look worse than it really is.

i have aswell studied YOU. you cannot say you know more since you do not know me and what i know. You show a lack of understanding for stating your a phycologist.

Apple indroduced a pruduct with sleek design and a yadiyadi.
They had a design flaw, people brought this up BECOURSE it affected the avarage user on a daily basis.
I love the phone i am gratefull for the free bumper.
if apple had admitted the problem and said they would give free bumpers as a fix that would have been good. the story would have died down.
but NOOOO apple had to try and bring up another problem and try saying that this was the real problem and then started slining mud at other companies.
they even went so far saying that we the comsumers didnt get it and that there was no problem. that kind of attitude will be their downfall.

they failed at marketing. they failed at the design. they failed to be honest about it. BUT they succeded to make a great even with its design flaw.(atleast with a bumper on it)

This is what i am trying to say. i know that you know about the real problem but suddenly people start talking about a completly diffrent problem that accours on all phones. This is what i belive apple has tried to do. Not look at the real problem but another problem that all phones are afffected by.

i've tried time and time again to get my iphone 4 to drop signal in various locations and it just won't.. but i could on my 3g... never dropped a call on any phone on any network...

this whole thing is moot as far as i'm concerned..

please go to a place where u get 3 bars...
take of your case or whatever.
put your pinky on the antenna connection at the bottom left.
does it drop?
then try with a speedtest app with your finger there and when its not.
then come back with a reply please

I can do that with a Nexus One, but instead of my pinky I just hold it like I'm making a call. Instant +10db drop.

As I've posted in the other threads. Who cares. They can test every phone in the world and find flaws with them. That doesn't make their phone any less guilty or flawed.

All it does is try and make a "misery loves company" principle try to work.

still its not detuning the antenna as on the iphone 4.
iphone 4 gets +20dB drop with the same grip.

Oh youve studied me huh? I have a lack of understanding because I'm a PHYcologist eh?

Lemme put it this way...

Do you believe jealousy exists? Yes or no.

You really think all this circus behavior happened because it barely affected a small % of uptight users?

Most people had to look up the word attenuation when it happened. Everyone I know that thinks the phone is bad, thinks its worse than it really is. Nobody is about the facts. Its all here-say. The internet media, like stated above, makes tons of money off of iPhone articles. The millions of people who were able to find one, are silently enjoying theirs. The flaw itself doesn't hinder their use. For example they don't have to do anything different than they did with the 3GS so the only people making an issue are the enemies of apple and also the people who think they are saucy consumers and have such a sense of entitlement that it wanders into insecurity territory.

Apple got excited about the antenna and wanted to push things forward. They are a big target so the level of sensitivity in the attenuation made a giant controversial splash. Moreso than would have happened if everyone realized all phones do this.

See, they all do it but the focus on Apple has made it seem like its a lot more dramatic than it is. Even though there is more attenuation happening, its still inconsequential except for in the competitive minds of consumers. They want to feel their device is 100% solid and now these scientific tests are making them feel anxiety.

So showing other tests about attenuation makes everyone understand the true scenario better and realize that they can manage owning this phone without any big problems just like all the other phones they managed with in the pre-iphone days.

It's very simple. It's as if no one is listening.

If you are on 4.0.1, and you have 5 bars naturally, the lowest you can go is 3 bars from the death grip. It won't drop your call. If your reception is good, it won't drop bars at all.

Then why is everyone saying this is a huge flaw? Why is everyone acting like it does drop calls? Why is everyone making this to be bigger than it is? Judging by some of these hater comments, it seems that even if your pinky wanders there, you will have to call that person back. Why is everyone acting like as if the antenna is garbage?

The damage is done, but now even more damage will be done by Apple until the playing field is equalized. This is the perfect route to take. These videos feel like sweet revenge.
