restore and set up as new if it's not a problem and you're still bothered by the bugs..
Thanks Eraserhead, will do.
Can anyone confirm if the impossibility to force quit with the home button is a bug or a feature?:)

A few problems I found on my iPhone 3G:

You can't do the Move part of Move and Scale when editing your contact pictures.

Sometimes the audio would cut out and require a shut down/restart to get it back.

Yesterday I was reading a document on it in a quiet room, and it was constantly making a low click-click-click sound. I *think* it was coming from the speakers, but it had a kind of electrical pop to it too. This went along with the loss of audio, and shutting it off and turning it back on made the problem stop.

When testing a web app that's based on iUI that I'm having to do for work, the page slides would be slow and jerky, not smooth. Most likely that's due to a debug version of the Safari browser, is my best guess.

I finally just reverted it back to 2.2.1. 3.0 is fairly nice, but just a few too many bugs to deal with for now. I'm not needing any 3.0 API features at this time anyway.

I finally just reverted it back to 2.2.1.

I tried to to this but i can't do that iTunes give me an error. In his documentation apple said that is not possible to come back to previous version of the firmware do you really do thath? have you got a regular iPhone (without jailbrake)? thanks!

A funny one in Palringo V2 that creeped up with Firmware 3.0

I thought 3.0 seemed pretty smooth at first but the more I use it, it is getting pretty bad.

-majorly slow often
-tons of lag in several apps and typing
-crashing Messages app, lots of crashing in new Voice app and weird bugs
-MMS doesn't even work sending or receiving
-Really slow start up and shut down
-Really slow backup in iTunes
-Spotlight is very slow, it is NOT like on the Mac like some people are saying, NOT AT ALL, on the Mac is instant
-My home screen started showing as the voice app screen... WEIRD!
-Can't pan images when pinched in
-Texts dont make that WOOP iChat sound anymore when you send... I dunno if that is a bug, but I don't like not having that

That's about it, but it is far from ready or it will be another nightmare like the 3G release again :( I want it SOLID like the original iPhone release!!!

I love it though as far as features etc. I wish for a couple little things like custom text ringtones etc. But can't complain, this is a really big update.

Like I have been saying, after Apple took care of the enterprise features, they returned focus to the users. I think the new iPhone in June will do video with hardware enhancements and Snow Leopard goodness for sure... That is my prediction!

P.S. Anybody else have confirmation from AT&T about MMS already being part of the text plan and no extra charge??? I called them and even had the girl verify with a manager and she said it is all included already, but I have read twice now online that Apple said additional fees may apply. Are they just meaning in other countries maybe???

1.0 was solid?

1.0 was solid?

1.X was solid. You couldn't make it crash.

3.0 is laggy. They really need to work on performance. Also, a clean up of the settings app wouldn't go amiss - it's a horrible mess right now! You can't find the preferences you want.

Preferences should also be added to Spotlight. So, for example, you could quickly switch off 3G by typing "3G" in Spotlight and jumping to the preference (or switching it right there).

Landscape in Stocks is awesome. Give rotating a go - it's just insanely cool.

Bugs:

  • There's no drop shadow on the thing that shows what letter you're typing for Q, P, 1, 0, [, and = ... The top left and right buttons on your keyboard.
  • Text selection in Safari is very lame. Try selecting text on www.slashdot.org ... It's very difficult.
  • It often asks me if I want to join my wifi network even though I'm already connected to it.
  • Every time I hang up a call, the volume level bezel shows.
  • It won't let me uninstall this god-awful voice memos app.
  • Open Mail, use the search to search something, with the search results still showing, close mail, reopen mail, tap an email, have fun trying to use Mail ever again. You have to restart your phone to get the navigation bar back since force quite by holding the home button is apparently not working.
  • If you have MMS on, when typing a text message and the text wraps to the next line, the view of the text messages moves up too far and you can't see what you're typing.
  • When switching from portrait to landscape in the Messages app, the keyboard disappears and reappears. It should be like rotating in the Notes app - the keyboard should stay on the screen the whole time.
  • When attaching a picture to an MMS message, there is mad lag.
  • In SMS, when you long press a message to copy it and then decide you don't want to copy it, the message remains blue when it should not.
  • There is no way to copy a segment of a test message, you have to copy the whole thing and trim it manually.
  • The recent calls section of the phone app is ugly.
  • No landscape keyboard in the Clock app when labeling alarms.
  • In Weather, there is no way to add a new weather location based on your current location. This is getting ridiculous, I want a pane in Weather that shows the weather for WHERE I AM. I shouldn't have to add a location and type in my city - WE HAVE GPS, APPLE.
  • The Clock icon does not show the real time, instead it shows a confusing picture of a clock with the incorrect time on it.
  • The Weather icon also lies almost all the time.
  • There is no longer a way to preview screenshots of apps in fullscreen in the App Store. While I do like the new screenshot view, I would like to tap the screenshots to see them in fullscreen.
  • In Mail, there is no way to select multiple emails and mark them as read.
  • MobileMe still does not push read/unread statuses to the iPhone. When I'm sitting here at my computer, which my phone in my pocket and I get a few emails, I'm going to read them on my computer. When I do that, my phone should no longer have unread messages. It works the other way around! If I read them on my iPhone, they automatically switch to "read" on my computer. Why doesn't it work both ways? Fix it, Apple.
  • In my Photos library, long pressing a photo should only bring up "copy", otherwise pressing "cut" should actually remove the photo.
  • No landscape in Maps.
  • In Maps, when you roll up the corner, the animation is really slow.
  • You have to place a drop pin to see street view, which is retarded. EDIT: Nevermind, you can tap the blue dot now and it will bring up a thing that says current location, just like what shows on the drop and red pins. Very nice!
  • The transition from map view to street view is gone, there is only a transition from street view to map view.
  • When I'm doing something on my phone and I get a call, don't interupt me! Just make the status bar twice as tall and say "incoming call". Make the left side red and the right side green, red ignores, green answers, don't tap to just not answer.

Er, you do understand what a beta test period for software is, right? (by that I mean the proper definition of a beta, not the google one).

Of course I do. I'm simply saying that they have a lot of work to do the next few months to have it ready for prime time.

Just in another day of use I have discovered probably 25 more big bugs that I didn't have in my original post!

1.0 was solid?

don't think so, not even the final 2.0 was..

1.X was solid. You couldn't make it crash.

3.0 is laggy. They really need to work on performance.

Yes 1.0 was very solid and great. 2.0 with iPhone 3G was a mess, and now 3.0 is a mess but it is still Beta of course. So hopefully it will get really solid in the next few months.

In PocketLint (account management) and To Do's none of the items show up on the screen when I open the app. It looks like it's a fresh install. I have to hit the "+" button at the top to add an item and then cancel to get anything to show up.

Something that has really ground my gears the entire time I've had an iPhone is what happens when you get a call while you're using the phone.

Whatever you're doing just goes black and then up comes the incoming call view. This isn't how it should happen. I should be able to continue doing whatever I was doing before I decide whether to decline or answer. It would be one thing if incoming call view had three buttons:

1. Answer
2. Decline
3. Go away and keep ringing so I can pretend I didn't hear the phone ringing and continue what I was doing before.

Everyone knows when you decline their call, and the annoying ones call back again and again.

I made a mock-up of what I think should happen when I'm using the phone and I get an incoming call:
