I prefer the deep blue (midnight blue to match the naming conventions of watch strap?) to space grey but I thought the black iPhone 5 was fantastic and hope it can return some day. I rocked that iPhone 5 in black for 2 years without a case, loved it.

New aluminum 7000 series. Plus, it does not have the chamfered edges of the iPhone 5.

I'm not sure if the hardness of the Al is related to the durability of the anodising/colourising finish. Seems like that's a separate issue (durability of finish) that needs or needed to be resolved. Hopefully Apple has by the time they release another dark colour.

It's disappointing that Apple's industrial design didn't or couldn't figure out that the cheap black paint of the iPhone 5 was so delicate, or that using soft aluminium on a phone you were going to make increasingly thin wasn't going to make it vulnerable to bending. That or they did know but didn't care or that market forces or management dictated profits over quality.

If this is an accurate reflection of a new blue colour finish then I'm sold. Looks stylish, sophisticated and masculine. Enough of the gold colours already. As much as I like the original gold, they need a dark colour to counter the light options, and not some bland, existentially unsure, "is it dark?" grey colour.

A really, really dark green would be my first choice. Not a fan of blue.

Nice. But what does it matter? Most of us are going to cover it with a case anyway.
The weird thing is I think it looks like it's in a case. It looks like a space grey iPhone in one of those transparent plastic blue-coloured cases.

Not now that they use series 7000 aluminum which is much harder to scratch.

It's still aluminium, I've used my 6S plus without a case since launch , and it had many scratches on it. Much better than the 5, but still Scratched quite easily.

Following rumors that Apple is prepping a "Deep Blue" or "Dark Blue" color option to replace the Space Gray color for the upcoming iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, designer Martin Hajek has created some renderings imagining what such handsets might look like.

Hajek's renderings reflect myriad rumors pointing towards only minor changes for the 2016 iPhone. When it comes to size and thickness, the iPhone 7 is expected to be almost identical to the iPhone 6s, with some minor antenna band changes.

Apple is likely to remove the headphone jack in the iPhone 7, but whether or not the space will be filled with a second speaker is contested. Some rumors suggest dual speakers for stereo audio, but others say the iPhone 7 will continue to sport a single speaker.

Another design change rumored for the iPhone 7 includes repositioned antenna bands, with the removal of the bands that span across the back of the device. Inside, the iPhone 7 is expected to have an A10 processor and 2GB RAM.

Hajek's iPhone 7 Plus rendering shows the inclusion of a much-rumored dual-lens camera with a protruding, pill-shaped enclosure, as opposed to two separate circular camera openings depicted in some other online renderings.

Apple's iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are expected to launch in September this year.

MacRumors also recently featured some impressive renderings by Hajek of what a next-generation MacBook Pro might look like, complete with rumored OLED touch panel replacing the top row of function keys on the keyboard.

Make sure to check out Hajek's website for the full selection of iPhone 7 concept images.

  1. I never use a case, so the back color contributes quite a bit to the appearance.
  2. This dark blue is amazing, but I still prefer a black option (not space grey).

That looks.... nice! Almost too conventional for an Apple colour after all the gold and rose gold options.

Seeing this phone made me realize how damned tacky gold and rose gold really are.

I'll be so happy if something like this gets released. I hate to say it but apples post-jobs hardware design has been atrocious. this is both an interesting new design direction and a return to selling classy products aimed at college professors not teenage Chinese girls.

Nice colour..
Almost distracts from the hideous protruding cameras.

The dual camera look really cool. Very functional looking. Like the best of Sony's industrial engineering from the 90s.

Most of us will cover our socks with shoes and trousers but that doesn’t mean we’d choose to buy ones that are yellow with pink spots and Mickey Mouse on them, regardless of the price and quality.

Someone doesn't remember "flower power", "blue dalmatian" and other luridly-coloured iMacs. (Put your sunglasses on before googling). Oh, and "iPod socks"...

Of course, those would never have happened while Jobs was... oh, no, wait - they did.

THAT’S how much it matters.

Wait how did you see my socks?? Were you in that van parked across the street this morning :cool:
