This is plausible. I like it. Imagine this layout actually designed by Apple. I'm sure my feelings might move to the 'love it' if it works.

That's a really good prototype, very well done.

However I think people are missing the point on modernizing the iPhone this way. The usability of this is probably very bad. It doesn't belong in the phone because it would be awful using your thumb. It really shines on the watch because you're always using your index finger. Huge difference. The index finger is much more precise.

I think it's a great UI for the watch. It plans for many icons, unlike how the iPhone wasn't planned to have many icons. And as much as some people doubt the UI, our minds work spacially, and giving users many views from up close to broad range, will really help people know exactly where their icons are. Much more so than page after page. Also, apps are can never be as far away from home as they can be on the phone, because home is at the center.

It's a great UI for the watch, but the phone needs something else.

Very cool concept! I think it needs a bit of work in terms how it manages allllll the apps but I would venture that something like this is will creep into our existence. Well done.

Maybe a combination of this UI and the current home screen's folders could work.

So within this "circular" UI you have groupings of apps. These groupings would be placed in large circles, each with a semi-transparent color. So when you zoom all the way out, you can see a series of colored groups that represent folders or groups of apps.

cluter-based design? more like cluster-fu*k design... Totally unproductive, time wasting slow interface and just stupid. I mean people these days cant even remember where they parked their car infront of a supermarket and now they expect them to remember where exactly on which location is certain app? basically the same as poiting out a random country on a map (and we all know how "good" 90% of people are at this), good luck with that.

Now someone make a cydia app that lets me use a wrist-mounted landscape iphone 5 as an apple watch with my pocketed iphone 6 plus.

I like this a lot. It has the potential to be much faster than
the current navigation.

Folders could still be very easily implemented. One could change the idea into something like "Circles." You could rotate the folder/circle like the click wheel on an ipod.

anything is better than the current setup.

who's going to swipe to page 9 to launch an app that they barely use? most people just launch apps from page 1 or search for it I think

if not asking siri, why wouldnt you just do a half-page swipe-down, and enter the first few letters of the app to open it via spotlight? hmm?

Not quite the same...

He missed that the icons surrounds each other with 60 degrees, not 90 degrees, so there should be 6 icons surrounding each icon. It will be more natural/honeycomb shaped that way.

that's my point. unless the app is on the first page, I use spotlight everytime i need to open an app. it's useless to swipe one page at a time to find your app

Looks great!
In fact I hated it on the Apple Watch but now I've been convinced otherwise.

But as someone else mentioned, would you need to remember where your icons are so that you know which direction to scroll to?
It appears that some app icons appear multiple times, so I'd say the concept is that maybe your favorite or commonly used apps may appear on screen no matter wherever you scroll to.

I would love to test that out on an iPad. Would look so cool.

Just his accent.

I think this is absolutely genius! What a fresh take on the home screen! Sure, may not be entirely practical, but it definitely has that "cool factor"!

I prefer practical. My phone isn't a toy, its a tool to get things done. And yes, also entertain. There is nothing practical about that interface on an iPhone. Also, I have not bedazzled my iPhone.

I'm not saying long live scrolling grids, but this is not the replacement. the replacement will be clear, intuitive, and productive. To me, this is more akin to the Windows 8 smart menu and UI. Different for the sake of being different. Although at least the smart menu does offer you tidbits of updated info for certain apps, so maybe it's better than the pile of scrolling circles.

Not a hit on Apple, because I think they know that UI is best left at the watch, just as iOS UI is best not put on a Macbook or vice versa.

TL;DR version: Leave the funner to look at but orders less practical interfaces to MS.
