That's too bad, as my only current gen system is a PS3. I might still pick it up in the bargain bin at some point.

If its any help to you, in my two play through I haven't experienced any bugs/slowdowns. I was really disappointed in the otherworld as in some parts they just don't want you to explore due to the stupid void monster that chases you at every damn turn

Bless

I know this is the console games forums but I used to heavily bot in World of Warcraft. Used it for everything. Leveling all classes to level 90, farmed 6 guild bank tabs worth of MOP ore and herbs, used it to get rare mount drops, monitored the auction house, etc.

Had a blast but always felt guilty.

PC
--------------
Played the ever-loving hell out of Doom and Doom II back in the day. Enjoyed them to no end. But never made it past level 3 or 4 without the ubiquitous IDDQD and IDKFA. Good times.

Console
--------------
Bought a SNES just to play Super Metroid.
Bought a Gamecube just to play Metroid Prime.
Bought a Gameboy Advance just to play Metroid Fusion.
Bought a Wii just to play Corruption.

Is anyone from Nintendo of America reading this? Wanna sell another Wii U? :p

I just started playing Half Life 1 for the very first time last week and have never played Half Life 2.

I've never played any of the Halo games despite owning an XBox 360 (they're on my list).

I hated Assassin's Creed. I traded it, shortly after it was released, to a friend for Halo 3 and haven't played it yet.

Often times, the first thing I do after buying a Steam game during their sales is startup Team Fortress 2.

Lots of other games that I should have played along the way but somehow skipped (too much time spent in MMOs back then).

I used to like World of Warcraft and I own the collector's edition of the original game.

I really want to give Princess Peach a virtual slap for continuously getting kidnapped.... Or the next time she is kidnapped, Bowser goes all 'HOSTEL' on her Lilly white ass :p ;)

j/k MRU does not endorse the kidnap and torture of any polygons or sprites, no matter how annoying they are.........

^I agree. Where are the modders, the pirates, the cheaters!

I take it that's a confession right there ;)

As for cheating in games, I've long since given up cheating to beat a game when publishers started trying to sell us unlock codes as DLC for what we used to do with a button press on a menu..... Now that is some genuine gaming SIN publishers are committing right there..

Wow!
You're gonna have a great time!:)
The best FPS series imo and HL2 is my favourite game ever!

The last 1/4 of Half Life is simply atrocious. *spoiler*
(the alien planet part with the platforming is some of the worst level design in gaming history......)

Installed over 100 modchips into Xboxes, usually SmartXX v2 or Xecuter 2 and 3

I only ever installed a couple of the X2 chips.... much cheaper to just reflash the TSOP that's already in there :D Obviously it's not as flexible as using a chip, and you couldn't go online, but everyone was more than happy with XBMC as their dash and a HDD full of teh romz.

I also purchased my Xbox with a random tax-return, based on Edge magazine's 10/10 score for Halo

I've always been very anal about keeping stuff in immaculate condition. This goes back to my original NES, Gameboy and Super Famicom games; the boxes and manuals were always kept mint. And I sold or traded them all over the years, some for 1/100th of what they'd be worth now. But I'm sure we've all done it at some point; hindsight is a terrible thing.

I suppose my real 'sin' in not actually gaming enough. I mostly play arcade fighting or shooting games to get a quick fix here and there. The only time I really sit down for a good session is with a new Mario, but that only lasts a week at the most until I've rinsed it. I spend more time with the kids playing Skylanders or Lego City than my own games.

:apple:

 I used to. I'd love to chip the PS3/Xbox 360, but It's now much too complex, and not necessary anymore as the main "gain" is now piracy, instead of adding a ton of new features such as you stated: XBMC, which I still use on my PC, serving to android USB sticks throughout the house.

I did end up buying all the games I did pirate, but being so late in the cycle, all were used, none of the money going to the studios. :( Now most of my purchases are when on sale under $20, most on Steam, and all used on the consoles.

As far as cheating in game, I do wish codes were added back into almost all games. Most of the time I want the story, not the fight :p I do not like cheating online, but have no qualms with exploits, or going against the games intent, such as I stated in GTAIV races, when I grief other players. Actually that IS GTAIVs intent, yet I still get booted :-D

Why do I find this post mildly exciting?

I'm certainly having fun so far. I'm maybe 5'ish hours into Half Life 1.

Aside from playing Doom a ton when it first came out and Team Fortress 2 a ton these days, I pretty much skipped most of the FPS genre. I've got a lot of catching up to do :)

Hehe... I remember back in the day when i got an ATI video card (x800 iirc) and it came with a coupon for downloading Half Life 2 from Steam.
The download speed was terrible in 2004.

Steam used to look like this:

I used to write online hacks for various multiplayer games (aim bots, speed hacks, wall hacks, etc). The real fun for me was dreaming up ways to make the cheating less obvious.

The last bot I ever wrote was for Counterstrike Source and attempted to emulate human-like movements when enabled. This basically included virtual mouse inertia, and random movement paths that attempted to replicate what you'd see from a physical mouse. It even had configurable settings that would purposefully kill the no recoil and make you miss, and could also be linked up to the scoreboard so the bot only worked as hard as it had to, to make sure you were the #1 player.

That thing landed up working so well that it was borderline impossible to detect. Dancing around VAC was a bit tricky, but more so then that was fooling the people who were directly observing you. With the aim bot pretending to be human, nobody could figure out if you were a really good player or a really crappy player with some external assistance. I used it in several online tournaments and was never detected or even suspected once.

Man those were the days. Reminds me of the Punk Buster era everyone went through. Oh man, it was so fun hacking on PB enabled servers because everyone else believed PB was somehow infallible (when in fact, it was and still is a huge pile of steaming ****). It always amazed me how much trust being PB verified would immediately get you, even though it meant nothing at all.

Really? Steam was like this? woow a BIG evolution!

Is case to say, puberty done right!

Okay I guess I'll confess my gaming sins.

- Action Replayed my all of the pokemon games I've ever owned on the Nintendo DS. I used the AR to obtain virtually every pokemon with outrageous move sets and use them to completely annihilate other players online.

-Softmodded my Nintendo wii and played pirated games on it. I also constantly hacked online in Mario Kart Wii and Super Smash Bros.

- Used a aimbot on my jtagged x-box 360 and caused countless rage quits among the MW2 community.
