Can I just ask a simple question in which I hope I get a answer. Will O2 support 4G LTE? I don't mind when it is, just if they will support it?

Thanks.

Yes, they will have a 4G LTE network but the current iPhone 5 won't work on their 4G LTE network.

Given that they've told you that lie, I'd ignore everything else they've told you.

O2 are clearly concerned about losing customers due to 4G - I was told by an online agent that they would have 4G in a few days! Even after I challenged this several times, she maintained it was true.

I don't understand why they're not promoting DC-HSDPA more, by all accounts it will be faster than EE's 4G, at least initially.

I'm really confused about O2 and DC-HSDPA and am struggling to find info. Can you shed some light? How fast? When? Where? Etc....

Me too, but my understanding is that DC-HSDPA allows speeds of up to 40Mbps (compared to 100Mbps with 4G). O2 is already implementing this in the meantime.

The question is really about how quickly EE can roll out 4G and what speeds they get.

Hearing about DC-HSDPA (and the likely delay in O2 implementing 4G themselves) helped me make the decision to go on with buying the 5 rather than wait for the 5S in the hope that it would be compatible with O2's 4G spectrum.

How come 4G LTE won't work on a iPhone 5? It's got it.

There are lots and lots of posts about this!;) It's because the iPhone 5 on sale in the UK doesn't work on the frequencies that O2 will use for their 4G LTE network. It will only work with EE (i.e. T-mobile and Orange).

I have to say they've handled this really badly. It became obvious yesterday that they were having serious problems, but they kept to the increasingly ludicrous line of "we're just making sure we've got everything right". An admission of technical problems would have better preserved their credibility. People are forgiving of problems if they feel they've been given accurate and up to date information. As things stand, you still can't order over their website (at least for new customers), there is zero information on the site about nano sim availability, and no acknowledgement that there is a problem!

Had things been up and running at 8.00am yesterday they would have had me as a new pay monthly customer. Instead I bought from Apple and will make a decision about a network at a later date.

Exactly this!

Last year instead of buying a 4s outright from Apple I decided to wait for O2, which worked out well. Ordered over the phone, and had one on launch day. This year has been a farce, so glad I ordered with Apple.

I got the feeling yesterday, that they were keeping their customers hanging on till all other networks had sold out etc to announce their tariffs. In doing so kinda force existing customers into wanting it so much on launch day, that they'd pay a few £ extra or even perhaps offering the early buy out deal that they had with the 4 which was designed to retain customers after o2 exclusivity of the iPhone ended. You'd think with EE launching that they'd really pull out all the stops and do ALL they could to RETAIN customers wouldn't you?

The amount of hate that o2 were getting on Twitter yesterday was just unreal. As customers got increasingly impatient the o2 twitter team got increasingly snarky - which really, really didn't help matters.

I dread to think how many customers they lost per minute with people immediately switching and those turned off by the ever changing stories that come out of the online chat representatives! After being told that I couldn't have an early upgrade, then being told i could for "around" £160, then £200, then £260, then £280 all by different representatives, I'm glad to say I've knocked my tariff right down and I'm off to who ever has a decent rolling sim deal in Jan!

Fair enough. Thanks for that. Do you know when EE nano-SIM's will be avaliable?

Wont write an essay..

GO TO SECOND PAGE FOR LATEST o2 UPDATES. They have been lying to everyone!

As a platinum member, they provide me with truth thank god :)

O2 will be selling the phone on Pay As You Go from launch day (21st September)

Equilibrium x x x

I'm hoping this part is true because it was like 3-4 months after release that 02 started selling the 4s on pay as you go !!!

Sorry, no idea!! My understanding is that there is no such thing as an EE sim at the mo because there is no such thing as an EE account yet. People with Orange or T-mobile accounts will be able to upgrade to EE with 4G at some point in the nearish future. I don't know about Orange/T-mobile nano sims either.

I'm sure someone will elaborate on this or correct me!

Sure. I understand. Thanks.
