Well, for me this a no brainer. An iPod Touch is about £200 cheaper than the iPhone (hopefully Touch prices will go down tomorrow and the price difference will widen!) and I'll be buy a semi expensive (£80-£150) XHTML browser phone which will have a better camera/video function than the iPhone - and will cost less too.

Admittedly, the iPhone is only about £80 dearer than the similar Samsung Tocco, and a lot of people will be willing to pay the mark-up. And there ARE more expensive phones than the iPhone (Nokias in particular) and SOMEONE must be buying them, so their pricing strategy is probably suited to their wallets and not students like myself.

I agree the price is far too much for me, and I think the iPod Touch & new phone combo works to my advantage a lot more than the iPhone would. Now...lets hope for major iPod Touch improvements/price drop tomorrow! :D

is this just in the UK or will it be available anywhere else ie in Ireland?

The O2 site says "Unlimited data and Wi-Fi applies to use in the UK only" and they put Ireland under 'abroad' on the O2 site so I'd guess it won't be available, though you'd be able to get it in NI.

Anyone ready to buy on Tuesday?

Ready to buy for a while now, but I have doubts that the local stores are ready to sell them.

Talked to the local CPW and O2 and both of them said they have not received words about selling the iphone in PAYG on tuesday, and the CPW guy goes on to blame apple... What a f@cking joke.
