Any updates on this? I have a 32GB VeriPad in the mail, although I'm not sure I will ever use it on Verizon- I may just use it for data internationally.

I just received my micro-sim from this seller. It worked perfectly. I have ordered two more to keep in reserve just in case I screw up again. Thanks for the tip!

#3) If you are going nuts like I was and didn't want to deal with those VZW morons anymore and are willing to invest $5-$6 for peace of mind just buy a micro-sim off eBay and it will be fine.

The one I got was from this seller: http://www.ebay.com/itm/290686170016

The return address on the envelope was: Verizon Wireless, 222 Merchandise Mart Plaza #213, Chicago IL 60654. Obviously a franchise (if that) and not a corp store.

So if you are frustrated fighting with VZW or just want a couple extras SIMs don't be afraid to get it from eBay (or, at least, this seller) but MAKE SURE you get a micro-sim and NOT a cut down regular sim just to be 100% sure.

I've got a question about my VeriPad- should I have bars of Verizon EVDO even though I don't have a subscription? I just get No Service, and today I verified there definitely is EVDO here, as my friend's DROID RAZR had 3-4 bars.

Edit: Hmmm, I'm getting NO SERVICE now even on my subbed sim. (NJ). Whoops, it's back. Just getting 3G (No LTE) for some reason and I am in the heart of LTE country.

OK, on my UNSUBBED (clean) sim, getting "NO SERVICE"
On SIM that had a plan but it ran out I am getting "VERIZON 3G"

Oh ok, it must be my plan then. It got 3G when I first pulled it out of the box, but then it shortly thereafter went to No Service, so it must not get service unless you register it or something. Weird, since I would now need wifi to subscribe. Go figure.

I just got the sim card in the mail from the same seller. (thanks so much!) but how do I cancel my postpaid service? Considering I can't alter the plan on my iPad. I tried looking for places to cancel on the Verizon website with no luck, all I could find is how to upgrade your data packages. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

You have to call them since it is postpaid.

so if i swap out the sim with the new one, will it be just like having it fresh out of the box before i ever activated the 4g and stupidly dsiabled it? Im so frustrated I want to go back to apple and get a new Att one. This is also improtant because what if i give this ipad away and then what, the next person cant activate the 4g. this is ridiculous. please confirm...thank you so much for your help.

The SIM is linked to your account, which has your address and credit card details. Only after the SIM is burnt, Verizon will then remove your details from their billing database. If you want to sell you iPad, the safe way is to Deactive Account "now" (burn the SIM immediately), instead of select the "later" option (burn the SIM in 6 month time). Of course, physically removing the SIM from iPad is also an option.

YES. You'll have to setup a new account with a new email.

Buy an extra VZW sim for when you sell it because the next person certainly won't be able to get one from VZW. Yes, it is very frustrating but at least eBay is an option. $6 is better then not having one.

Thank so much. I completely agree. I already ordered a new sim from the same seller u mentioned. Im assuming, by your reply, I can NOT ever again use the same email I previously used when I set up my first account when "reactiviating it"?

"Not ever again" is a long time which I have never experienced so I can't answer that question. Maybe once the other account is permanently closed in their system you could. I still can't re-use a Yahoo email address that I closed 4 years ago and I am 100% sure no one else has it. :)

Good enough...once again thank you so much for the wealth of info!

Just as stated, the SIM card 3FF worked like a charm. 6.00 is totally worth it, until apple and verizon get their act together on this. I did buy extra sims just in case.
I do have one additional question, before I screw things up again. Did anyone try to deactivate their account on these new sims? I read the other thread about how one gentlemen didnt have an option to delete the account now or later. I didnt know if anyone ever got down to the bottom of that issue or try it on these new sims.

I've deactivated / reactivated mine 3 times already. If he had no option either he was on POSTpaid and wasn't aware or didn't go past step 1 in the process or his account itself is messed up.

Thats good to hear, I checked my account and I do have the option to DELETE LATER.
When you do that option, I just have to reactivate it within 5 months or the sim card gets burned again from what I have read.
Does it affect the billing if its RE-started or deactivated before the 30 day period lapses? does it affect the unused data left over as well?

I always cancel mine 20 minutes after the data bucket is activated to make sure I don't forget. Data is good till used up or month is over. Correct, 5 months or the sim is RIP. AFAIK you can't restart (renew) it until the month or data is used up whether you cancel or not although I am not 100% sure on that.

Good idea, so when did you (or do you) reactivate it or are you just using fresh sim cards the 3 times reactivated/deactived your account. I know these questions are somewhat redundant, I apologize, but I'm trying to fully understand how this works.
Thanks again.

And the problem of course, is how ridiculous Verizon is with SIM cards.

AT&T - Walk into the store, grab a SIM card for free. No questions asked.

Verizon - No way, no how. You get one SIM, after that NO PREPAID IPAD FOR YOU. Only way to get another SIM is through grey market channels. No, we won't even sell you one.

Customer service - one of many reasons Verizon is awful. Seriously, Verizon are good marketers, but a terrible company to have to actually HAVE.

Thats absurd, what is verizons "logic" for not giving/selling the sim

No idea, my guess is Verizon doesn't want iPads on the prepaid plan - they want them on accounts, especially now with Share Everything. If you agree to setup a postpaid account, getting a SIM is no issue. The issue is getting a Verizon SIM without a Verizon account.

sounds about right, these carries will do anything to get money. It sucks.

What surprises me, and maybe it shouldnt; that both parties vzw and apple are passing the buck off on each other. The one says go to apple, the other says check with vzw.
The other thing is the lack of awareness of the problem, seems like nobody has heard of or know how to fix this problem. But they were so quick to say; oh yeah..cancel and reactivate your plan anytime, anywhere no contract fees or anything! As low as 20.00/mo and then stop it and reactivate it...blah blah.

Here's some of the things cs from vzw and apple have told me so far. Whether they've been misinformed, are half truths, or canned answers and/or fixes I dont know. But just left with a feeling that NO ONE knows what they are talking about and none of its helped me.

1) SIM CARD will cost 20.00.
2) We can reactivate your account if you want to start your prepaid plan again
3) Back up and lets reset your ipad.
4) We dont carry sim cards, I dont know where you can get one.
5) Erase your CC info next time instead of cancelling it. (great, what if I sell it?) Ummm...they have to get a new plan then.
6) People usually dont deactivate the service. <--- this one infuriated me for some reason, really thats the best answer you got?
7) Its a problem with vzw, call them.
8) get a new sim card from apple, they should have them.
9) get a new sim card from verizon, they should have them.

and bunch of other stuff I cant think of the top my head, and not to mention the waiting and on hold time, driving to the nearest apple store.
