It's really as simple as:(1) download Xcode. (2) plug in your iPad. (3) open Xcode. (4) hit " use for development" in Xcode. (5) use your new gesture features.

Yeah, but this topic is about iOS 5 and this doesn't work with latest beta.

Hmmm, it seems that I can forget to have these new great gestures official on my ipad 1.gen then? Is it only marketing-strategy?

No it is not a marketing strategy. When switching on apps with gestures on iOS 4, it takes a good amount of time to refresh/reload the app to its save state. On iOS 5, on iPad 2, however, swiping left and right between apps is seamless and there is usually no wait on the refresh. This is good old apple saying "if it's not perfect, you don't get it (aside from the i3G iOS 4 mishap).

Its as simple as not knowing if Apple will kill this in the final iOS5 release.

Sitting now in front of my new 1. Gen iPad which arrived today and i'm verry happy with it. Pinch out to home works great with iOS 4.3.5.

I am disappoint. The IOS 5 GM removed the ability to downward swipe to close folders. This was in 4.3.5 for the 1st Gen. They removed a feature I used very often.

Thank you for this, but it didn't do anything on the GM for me. I even restarted the iPad, but the preference isn't there, and the gestures don't work.

Sure, that hint doesn't work for iOS 5. Only for iOS 4.3.x (iPad 1. Gen.)
