Well. I’ve had both. This is my opinion. You don’t have to share it.The silicone case is pretty much the same thickness as the leather. Not much difference...
In-hand it does feel like the silicone case is thicker. I’ve chalked it up to several factors including differences in weight, density of the materials, texture, vibration dampening properties, and button feel. Also, I think the silicone cases are just ever so slightly thicker too 🤣Well. I’ve had both. This is my opinion. You don’t have to share it.
Also, how often do you guys take your phone out of the case and clean the phone/case? I haven’t taken mine off since the day I put it on the phone December 12.

I'm still debating. So most people buy the leather case because of silicon's lint magnet?
Most of the lint I get accumulates on the camera cut out, vibrate switch cut out, and lightning port cut out. Besides the lint, I love the case!I had the white silicone for iPhone 8 for a year and it was awesome. It never discolored and lint was not a problem. iPhone 12 Mini white silicone is nice but the lint is hard to clean on the screen. With the open bottom case for iPhone 8 it was easy to swipe the lint off the screen by wiping it top down on my shirt or pants. With the closed bottom the lint just gets stuck on the lip.
I decided to go all out with the 12PM, so I got the black leather, white silicone and clear cases, all from Apple. I’ve seen no ring forming on any of them; I use the MagSafe charger every night. No smudges or lint problems with the black or white; both are mild issues with the clear.I always preferred the silicone cases over leather. They are far more durable and softer. If it gets dirty all it takes to clean it is a quick wipe with a wet towel. If you’re considering the 12 series I would recommend that you stay far away from the MagSafe charger. It ruined my Kumquat case after less than a month of use. It has nothing to do with the quality of the case. I used Apples silicone case with a wireless charger on my iPhone 11 for a year and it still looked brand new when I sold it. The problem is the charger, not the case.

I have the silicon case for my 12 PM since launch and there’s already a tear from dropping the phone... 😡😡😡

Usually once every week or two, I take the phone out of the case, blow any accumulated dust out of the case (not usually anything at all), polish up all surfaces of the phone with a eyeglass cleaning cloth, then pop it back into the case. Also, how often do you guys take your phone out of the case and clean the phone/case? I think the Apple silicone cases provide a lot of benefit for those who feel a need to use a case. In fact, I bought one over the weekend to use as backup for my Apple leather sleeve.
Once you get used to using leather, it is hard to use anything else and not notice the difference.I have a silicone as backup for my leather case. My original plan was to alternate between them once a week, but I find I miss the feel of the leather case when I switch to the silicone one.
🤷♂️ I would've thought the quality of silicon would be more tough... but definately I was wrong. That's a completely different story. You dropped a soft case and it got damaged. 🤷♂️ The case is not at fault here.
