Once you get used to using leather, it is hard to use anything else and not notice the difference.

Personally agree but it comes down to personal preference really and what we are used to. I have a few folks with silicone cases in the family who feel the exact opposite of us. :)

Do not buy them used is all I can say. If the person is a smoker or nasty in general the silicone absorbs that stuff pretty good. When new they are quite nice.

I can't seem to get off the line between the two, especially this year. I've always been a leather fan but the silicone is just so nice this year.

I’ll keep using my beaten up 8+ til it falls apart - but the next time I’ll pick silicone too - just for a change.

I'm on the fence between leather and silicone this year. I've used them both for years but I usually settle on leather. I got the blue silicone for my 12 PM this year and it was an uber lint magnet at first, but after a couple weeks of use it got much better. Lint still sticks but not quite as much. They both feel good in hand, but I slightly prefer leather. It just always feels a bit more luxurious to me. Leather does get dirty and develops a dark patina over time, but silicone you can basically just wipe off. A lot of people like patina, but if you don't then silicone might be the way to go. Also as others have mentioned silicone is water resistant but leather is not. I would imagine silicone might provide a little bit more protection, but realistically neither is super tough. I think it all comes down to personal preference and neither is a wrong choce.

I had an Apple leather case on my 6S from day one and lasted for about three year. I liked how the leather ages but went with silicone when I bought my 11 last week. Yes, it seems to attract lint which doesn’t bother but I will probably buy a leather case also.

Fake chargers & cables too
To be fair, there's a huge difference between "fake" and "third party". There is no excuse for a fake/non-authentic anything...nobody should be claiming their product is made by Apple if it isn't, not to mention the fact that it's illegal. However, there are plenty of great quality third-party chargers and cables out there, and no reason not to use them if they work well and are affordable. Apple wouldn't have chargers, cables, etc from Belkin, Mophie, etc for sale on their site if they considered them to be "fake" or unworthy of use.

Do these cases get sticky in the places where they get worn off?
I remember having a fake 7 plus sillicone case and it got unusable in like 2-3 months as it worn off in the corners and it became sticky.
I just got myself a sillicone case for my 12pm, authentic and it started wearing off in the corners, I don’t mind as long as it dosen’t get sticky.. I hope so at least..

my chalk pink isn't sticky. and the corners are fine.

it did chip when i dropped it. first case EVER that chipped..... $50 case.... ruined after 4 months of use!

A chip 'ruined' the case? Must be one heck of a chip.

You dropped the phone. The case did its job.

and i've dropped my phones over the years including on concrete using other cases and they haven't chipped! they've gotten scratched and scraped... but not chipped!

That they seem to fall apart at the corners. In my case all four corners. Luckily after six months Apple are sending me out a new one. I really like these cases and they do appear to protect the phone but I may have to reconsider when I replace my phone next.

Love the silicone cases but finally had to switch to Apple’s hard plastic clear MagSafe cases because I got tired of the corners chipping.
