It's a bit hostile to give a warning for not following a rule I've not seen on any other forum.
But it is a rule that is plainly stated as such in the MR Forums rules, which everyone agreed to when they joined this site. If a member didn't actually read the rules or choose not to abide by them, that member is to blame, not the forum or its leadership.

Bespoke and unique rules that are hidden away = bad user experience.

So, MacRumors should only have rules that other forums have? The rules are not hidden away either. There is a clear link to them at the top of the page.

It's a bit hostile to give a warning for not following a rule I've not seen on any other forum. Consecutive post spammers can be a problem but most mods can tell the difference and deal accordingly. The anal approach on MR instead paints a picture of power-trippy mods.

Am surprised to have been warned. Bespoke and unique rules that are hidden away = bad user experience.

Warning is simply mods' way to tell you that you broke a rule, nothing else. There are no consequences and you shouldn't act like your rights have been violated. If they didn't tell you that, you would keep posting consecutive posts as you just admitted that you haven't even read the rules, so what is wrong with that?

Way to miss the point, folks.

Actually, it appears you're the one who missed the point. When you joined, you agreed to abide by this forum's rules, which are plainly stated for everyone to see. Violations of those rules are handled appropriately, whether that meets with your approval or not. The moderation team does a great job and, if anything, they lean toward the too lenient side, IMO.

Which folks, what point?

Ups, did a minor reading comprehension faq up. You are the one complaining about this.

Anyway, I got some warnings, some of them were justified, the others were retracted. When I signed up, I agreed to the rules, and since this is a privately owned forum, there is only two things you can do. Either buy the board or leave. Or the third thing is accepting it.

Then educate us. Just because some other forum you visit doesn't have a rule like this doesn't mean that MR shouldn't.

Your case was dealt according to the rules MR has and which you agreed to when you registered. Warning is simply mods' way to inform members that they have broken a rule. If you were a spammer, you wouldn't be talking here right now, you would have been banned right away.
