Anyone else in the same boat? I love my iPhone 7+ but the 8+ with the extra portrait stuff and wireless charging has me wanting to pre-order. I don't really see anything I have to have about the X. It's pretty but that's about it lol OK the animoji are pretty cool but I'm not spending $1000 just for that.

I'll probably do 8+ over X for a few reasons

Don't want to wait, 7+ screen is cracked
X gestures look very annoying
I'm on the iUP so why not upgrade (still pay $40/mo for a better phone)
First generation of new technology will always have a lot of shortcomings.

Yes I love Touch ID and home button.

I'm also on JoD so figured why not. I am sad there is no more Rose Gold as I've had that color the last three generations. I guess I'll go gold this year lol no more matching watch and phone.

I pick X over 8+ because I care about being able to easily use the phone with one hand and having as small of a form factor as possible. One can argue 8+ is not difficult to use, but compared to an 8 (or an X), smaller form factor device is easier with one hand.

Given I reject consideration of all Plus models for their size, the X makes sense. Touch ID is the only thing that I am bothered by.

Well wireless charging is a gimmick and I've always thought so. You still have to plug a charger into an outlet and now its a big pad you have to lug around instead of a tiny cord. There's nothing in the 8 Plus for me that is worth upgrading from the 7 Plus. I'll keep my 7 Plus or go with the Galaxy Note 8. I have some research to do tonight.

I was so ready for the X but I'm not waiting until nov for the X so I will get the 8 plus

It's so worth it to wait an extra month or two for something you want rather than the boring 8+.

I'm actually considering it because I feel the X is a more hyped up device. I'm not sold on facial recognition, I just feel like I need TouchID. I know it's holding on to old technology but still

I'm not a fan of the cutout up top and I'm also not a fan of the chrome bezels. This device was such a refresh for Apple and the iPhone that folks are going crazy. For me that has the S8 and Note 8 I'm use to beautiful phones and crazy displays.

You have the same performance, slightly bumped up camera and design.

I was hyped up at first and then came down off my high and might just get the 8+ for now. Maybe later next year I'll grab the X.

The more I think about it, the more I realized because OLED there really isn't anything special about the X, and maybe next year all iPhones will switch to OLED.

or iPhone 7 Plus jetblack 32Gb for €779. I am really fine with 32Gb storage.

32Gb for the jetblack iPhone 7 Plus is a new tier as of today

I'm currently contemplating trading my 7+ for the 8+ as well. The main reason was the waiting game for the X. I'm on the IUP and don't want to get off schedule just for the X. It'll cost me more in the long run (in extra payments). However, the more I looked at the 8+, the more I liked it. I'm not crazy about face ID and I'm not not ready to give up my Touch ID. Maybe next year, after the bugs are worked out. Plus, I really like the gold color. To me, it looks like a combo of gold and rose gold. I hope it looks like that IRL. The longer battery life of the 8+ vs the X is a big pro too. Seriously considering preordering Friday. :)

The portrait mode stuff on the front camera is not on the 8, only the X if that matters to you.

If I had a 7+, I'd be holding onto it for another year. However I stupidly went for the 7 and don't like the lower PPI screen and the smaller battery, so this year I'm upgrading to the 8 Plus. The X is too expensive and has no TouchID.

This is exactly my thoughts!

There's no way I'd buy a Plus model. It's just too big. I've played with one in store and keep coming back to it incase it grows on me, but no. It's chunky and bloated. For me, the X is perfect - you get the best screen in a much smaller unit.

It does. The only difference in camera on the 8+ and X is the X has dual optical image stabilization.

On the Apple website they appear to both say optical image stabilization.

What is this dual your referring to and what difference does it make?

I had the same exact thoughts except I am def pre-ordering on Friday and have pre-qualified for my upgrade. lol. Though, I am going from the 7 to the 8+ for the camera. I will need to get used to the bigger phone. Wireless charging is lost on me since I will need a case + this ugly but damn useful thing on it. lol

first world decisions

but seriously what to pick

I have an s7 edge, it has oled. Do you think the iPhone 8 screen would be a downgrade?
