iPhone 14 Pro Max Consider the 14 Plus Over the 14 Pro Max....

I've been using a 14 PM since launch day. I'm coming from a 12 PM. It is noticeably heavier. Technically only 12 grams more but I notice the difference.

I'm going to wait until the 14 Plus comes out to decide if I want to keep it or not. I have never noticed ProMotion before and that doesn't change with the 14 PM for me. AOD is great. Dynamic Island is super cool but not super ergonomic due to the sheer size of the 14 PM. I'm not a stickler for cameras personally.

Just wanted to give prospective buyers a heads up.

I do think a lot of people are sleeping on the Plus model. Same people that hate on the Mini iPhones and iPads because there’s a bigger size that’s only a few $$$ but those people fail to realize there’s value in portability.

And from what the Pro models seem to be or better yet, not be, then the Plus may be refreshing for some and an eye opener for others who may only have gotten the PM due to the size.

Given that 13pm equals in weight with 14PM, i always thought that wife’s 13pm is heavy. Now with 14pm she went on ink leather case instead if silicone - oh my this is night and day difference. Now we understood that silicone case makes it heavier + leather cases got lighter. Overall perfect balance.

Don’t 14 Plus and the 14 PM have the same screen size as each other (and the 13 PM), though? I think OP is saying that if screen size alone is the differentiating deciding factor, they’re no longer forced toward the pro max model with this lineup.

I don't believe Apple puts any product on display until it is available for purchase.

I didn't notice ProMotion when I first got my 13PM either but after a few months I was scrolling on a friend's phone for something and it was noticeably missing and actually a little bit uncomfortable.

It's about a 3g difference and it is slightly noticeable.

Apple is really clever deciding when to release each model. For me 14 plus could be the hide star of this year (6.7 inches with selfie camera of 14 PM, main camera o last year 13 PM, “biggest battery on iphone” according to Apple) but they prefer to sell more expensive iphone where margins are bigger. So, they launch first the PROs and all the early adopters buy the more expensive models avoiding cannibalization , and in some weeks they launch the cheaper options…

12 Pro -> 14 Plus.

For the larger screen (eyes getting older) & SOS emergency (I fish a lot of remote waters).

Don't use any of the video or photo hardware.

Dynamic island is useless like my Macbook Pro with touchbar.

Can't wait till Oct 7 when it arrives.

I’m coming from a 12 PM. I’m sticking with the 14 PM. To me the weight difference is negligible.
I have a Apple leather case which is thicker feeling compared to the Spigen Mag Armor I also have. The leather case does feel like it’s great protection.
I’ll keep both cases. Also have the Apple Mag wallet which works very well.

I currently have 11 pro max so lack of promotion shouldn’t be a problem. The question is if I’ll miss macro/telephoto lens and if appearance with only 2 cameras and matte rings is going to look much less attractive than three array camera with bright rings in space black…

Of course it will… what matters is if it will be relevant to you. Apple made for specific reason the pro line more attractive and the end user will decide if it is a dealbreaker for them.

I don’t think the plus model has been released yet. It will not be on display until it’s available for sale. Also Fingerprints will not show up when the iPhone is in a case.

Finally we have all 14 plus reviews on internet and as expected, Apple delayed the release to avoid cannibalization, to protect 14 pro max sales, to make us want to buy the more expensive possible model.

So they did it against customer interests, that should have had all the options available since day one to really decide which model suits theirs needs the best.

Usual hamster blogers speech to promote undersellers. The same happened with every SE and Mini phones. The truth is that they will hype this unpopular items, but continue to use pro/max versions.

Especially when the first people to release the only reviews are prepaid blogers like iJustine and Marques who also got personal show time at apple cupertino and played alone in the room with new Pros - you have to be really insider bloger to have all of that opportunity.

Meanwhile my guy Everyday Dad is sitting quiet waiting his regular crowd shipping to release a video as opposed to special delivery blogers aka Justine and such.

I couldn’t disagree more. Buy the pro version to have for example AOD? Ah no, it’s better to have it turned off because it ruins battery life…

Given my experience with my 14 Pro Max I think the Plus will be the battery king this year.


Biggest disappointment for me was Promotion. I can’t tell the difference between 60 and 120. Maybe just slightly on the home screens but I believe Safari still does not offer it all yet? Promotion to me means AOD which I like but that is it.
