ye me too, which is why I like my whitebook early 09 so much....

No, he's referring to the buttonless trackpad on the new MB and MBPs.

I just meant that the buttonless trackpad, while interesting, isn't really better or worse for me. It's a change, and a small adjustment for most people, but it's neither better or worse than a trackpad with a button, IMO.

@aaquib: Gestures aren't really relevant though. That's all software-based anyway, meaning the old MacBooks are also capable of the same gestures if Apple wanted them to have it. What I meant was that if I had to compare the new buttonless trackpad with the old trackpad, with all else being equal, it's neither an improvement to functionality, or worse than before. Not having a button is different, but I don't feel like the user experience has improved because of it.

.
I know ........it's just you can do most everything with the 'old' trackpad you can do with the new,....the new trackpad is just no biggie to me that's all & dont understand the fuss tbh

...for me it was easy, just do a search for aluminum cases and dents - then look for applecare refusing to pay for repairs due to dents = get the whitebook - dents don't show up unless you really f'd up the laptop...

I have really changed my mind since I last posted.

I now plan on getting a refurb Uni MB instead of a WhiteBook... I think I'm really going to like the buttonless trackpad and after seeing one in real life It made me want it even more, it's just beautiful.

I'm going to go to the store soon and try both so thats when Ill really decide.

By the way, do non-apple stores that sell macs carry refurbs?

I don't think there is anything wrong going with the White MB. Mine is coming up on 3 years old, and its still functional.

That said however, you will probably run into a huge wear and tear issue on the White MB. The top case on mine is horribly chipped and cracked in multiple places, but it did take a while for the problem to show up (2+ years).

Personally I would say go ahead with the White MB if you want to save, but only plan on using it for 2.5 - 3 years. During that time save another $1K - $1,300 and just get something new and shiny at that time.

5+ years from now just about any current computer is going to run like crap anyway.
