Disable: Preload top hits.
That will solve it
That's more for the data spinner when just on the home screen, for example. In this case it's only while in Safari where it's always present and spinning.Used to happen for me in iOS7 if I started an app download and then killed it before it finished. Would take powering the phone down and turning it back on to get rid of it.
Haven't noticed it on iOS8 nor iOS6 or below.

I was seeing this in 8.0 and 8.0.1 and 2, but no longer seeing it in 8.1 beta.
I actually started noticing it a little while ago today with no pages open in safari. I already had preload top hit off but also turned off quick website search and the spinner disappeared. Will continue to monitor it to see if it comes backI hope this is the case when it get's released.
I did a restore last night and it solved nothing. not sure if 8.1 could solve this or if it's as widespread?
Widespread. On 8.1 beta 2 and issue is still there. iOS 8 is damn bugged.
ugh!
I think it's just the code for the animation getting "stuck" running.
I can close ALL tabs and it still spins. Only by killing Safari in the multitasking view does it stop.
I wouldn't sweat it; it seems like a cosmetic issue and I doubt it uses much CPU or data.
Dont have this issue in iOS 8.1 (not since beta 1).Widespread. On 8.1 beta 2 and issue is still there. iOS 8 is damn bugged.

I think the implication there is that the bug exists in the stable/final/public version and the new upcoming version that's in beta right now might not have addressed it--sure, it could potentially simply be because it's a beta and it's a glitch related to that, or, what seems somewhat more likely, is that the issue might not have been addressed so far. You're running a beta and complaining about bugs?
Does it happen on any site? Have you tried closing all tabs (regular and private) and then clearing out Safari's cache before trying it all out?downloaded 8.1 today and it's still present.![]()
