Agreed.

If anything, this news will accelerate the progress of the firmware fix and antenna insulation solutions.

With the earnings report coming out a week from today, things are likely to be more clarified, by then.

I expect 3Q 2010 to be the first quarter :apple: exceeds MSFT for profits.

AAPL up 6 points from earlier this morning.

I'm not saying you should short apple, but the sector is like 80% of the stocks direction, so regardless of how well your company is doing, if the sector is going one way , and the stock is going the opposite, it's something to look out for.

Thats like an off shore oil driller going up 10% the day you heard about the BP oil spill, usually companies in the same sector behave the same way on a day to day basis, however the percentage will be different.

I agree, however, the stock has been moving in the same direction as the sector since 11.45 AM, up .5%, since the reaction to the CR report.

excuse me, but msft doesn't earn anywhere NEAR that much on a quarterly basis.

My bad, I thought he was using Q3 as a reference point to when they surpass MSFT in yearly profits.

It's hard to reach $46 billion from around $17 ish (billion) not sure on exact numbers.. but they're close enough.

Ya, I think it's because most people who purchase stocks put stop orders at round numbers, like 250 for example, then when the stock reaches that price, computers start automated selling, and drive the stock further down, till people realize it's a good buying opportunity.

This issue isn't going to make or break apple, and I think they know that.

iPhone 5: seamless design, flawless signal

that would be the perfect punchline for a gorgeous looking phone

But then they'd basically admit to their error

Just because something is popular doesn't mean it's good. Go home and finish your Twilight books that you bought from Wal-Mart.

I understand A LOT of people will see this ranking, and CR still holds a lot of clout, but that doesn't change the fact that they are on the decline and their system is in need of an overhaul. Have you SERIOUSLY looked at CR for making a purchase? Savvy individuals just don't use CR.

No need for the insults, all I'm saying is people will notice this. I don't use CR as religiously as others, but as you say many people will see this. And whether people see it or not, the bottom line is that the iPhone problems exist. Something needs to happen here

Lunatic. Absolutely ******* crazy lunatic.

Yeah, you're right. You can smell other people through your computer, which is a superability that I suppose comes from being a "pro" user. Not worth arguing with you at this point. You are obviously deranged.

And since you obviously know how to run a better business than Steve Jobs, I don't see why you need to sit here complaining about Apple. Why don't you just go off and found your own computer company, and show Apple how to do things right, hm?

Incidentally, let me give you a tip on how to stop Steve Jobs from "controlling your mind". The tin-foil hats only stop the radio waves, you see. There are also odors transmitted through your computer, as you are clearly well aware. So, you'd best protect yourself from the mind-control fumes. I'd suggest you put a plastic bag over your head, and tie it tight around your neck not to let any of the noxious mind-control fumes from getting through. After about 10-15 minutes, you should be "purified". Seriously. Do it.

It must really suck to be the only person on this forum, and indeed probably the world, that doesn't get it, doesn't it? Or else why are you the only one ranting against my "threat" to Apple?

:D

Easy there tiger.
Some of us are not office based. Does that make us dumb?
I happen to survey buildings and deal with all my enquiries via mobile devices.
Does that make me dumb?

If you're your own boss, nope. If you love your boss, nope.

If you're like everyone else on the planet, you tell me.

I really would like an objective analysis of Apple's stance on individuality and the evolution of the company from its early days through the present. I have always believed the "1984" and "Think Different" commercials to be captivating and brilliant. It would be a shame if they were merely marketing ploys as opposed to Steve Jobs' intention on expressing his passion over "power". Do people generally believe Mr. Jobs to have evolved from a visionary more interested in changing the world into a fascist, passionless capitalist? Maybe I'm naive, I would like to believe that through it all, Steve still believes in "thinking different".

This commercial still gets me every time I watch it, and Richard Dreyfus is perfect for the voiceover:

Hand me my hazmat suit please... it's knee deep in here.

"Maybe I'm naive...."

Who knows, maybe his NDE where he ended up in Hell got him royally pissed off at Buddha and he figured "Why not?" if he was going to end up there anyway. He sure is hell bent on screwing over everyone since his return, while keeping the money flowing in.

If it walks like a fascist passionless capitalist, it probably IS a fascist passionless capitalist.

:apple:

As long as the iPhone is on backorder, this is just free publicity (thank you for spelling Apple's name correctly). The issue will likely die down before i4 supply exceeds demand.

I think you are correct, although I can't remember such a firestorm of negative publicity for Apple in recent history. The Consumer Reports' statement was even one of the front page articles in the Marketplace section of WSJ today.

Edit: I also just read this article about Apple's stock falling a bit today:

http://www.cultofmac.com/apple-shares-slip-on-death-grip-concerns-recall-worries/50723

I am surprised Apple didn't release a statement today. I am very curious as to what the company's next move will be.

AAPL up 6 points from earlier this morning.

Because investors know AAPL 2010 3Q profits report is gonna be off the charts crazy again.

#1 - a person should not have to hold the phone in a special way
#2 - a beautiful device like this should NOT have to be covered up in a bumper case; it should be a choice made for protection rather then enabling functionality

Discuss.

#1 agreed
#2 agreed

Solution, buy a case.

Now it is no longer a beautiful phone but a functioning phone. How much is beautiful worth to you???

For me, about $30. The price of my bumper.

If it walks like a fascist passionless capitalist, it probably IS a fascist passionless capitalist.
:apple:

If it walks like a slothful, Utopian-dreaming, gravy-training, union-loving socialist it probably is a slothful, Utopian-dreaming, gravy-training, union-loving socialist.

Solution, buy a case.
Band-aids are not solutions. They're band-aids.
meh.gif

So stop calling it a band-aid because it isn't. I would go with hard hat, surgical gloves, or maybe even condom.

Now those are solutions.

Hard hats are meaningless, surgical gloves are disposable, and you should always go for the vasectomy.
