It's all over Central London by now man. If you think otherwise then you're just naive. Neither you or I will ever know the full extent of it, unless you have some insider info. It's also installed in lots of private/public buildings. They have it where I work in South Kensington (not a high street, inside a premises).

I agree, they are definitely working on it that’s one thing I know for a fact. Whether it is as widespread as you seem to think I’m not sure.

So that’s no?

----------

Why?

Yes... why? Why would I intentionally break my phone?

I bought my phone to use it as it's intended. Not to intentionally destroy it. It's been established already that it WILL bend if you apply 70 lbs of pressure on it. I'm fairly certain I can, if intended, apply 70+ Lbs of pressure to it. BUT, since that is not my intention, I'm 1) extremely satisfied with my purchase and 2) confident that it will hold up "under normal usage".

----------

Eh? Sensit….what?
I repeat. have. you. tried. to. bend. it?

Have you tried to set your car on fire to see if it burns? HAVE YOU?

Well... I am sure, and I know that it works in the place where I work, amongst others... It's just software. As soon as you're 'in the system' then controllers are alerted to your presence. And it's very accurate these days too.

Thes forums and posts are the exceptions not the rule for most. Just like the bending; not the rule. The 4 went through the same thing. "It's glass! It broke/cracked just putting it in my pocket". Had a 4 for 2 ½ years and never cracked. 5 and 5s bent; both myself and my son [teenager] had the 5 and never bent.

Like everything, this too shall pass. By the time December rolls around no one will be talking about this, and the posts will shift to "What will be in iOS 9?".

Correct that's a no. Why would anyone try to bust their stuff? Seriously?

I remember when I was at school. They had shatterproof rulers.
Smashing it against a table is not normal use but it didn’t shatter. Did it once and also bent it to quite some angle once, the ruler sprung back and served me well from that point onward. Cost me less money, (a lot less), but the claim was true.
Give your phone, that is strong enough, a nice flex. It won’t bend so should be fine and you can tell me what a fool I was?

This phone I believe will be a problem for them going forward. It’s weak.

That’s what they said about Antennagate and MacBook Pro graphics card failure gate. Have a look at the Apple forums, whenever Apple are questioned be it bugs in software a weak phone or anything else the people who suffer from it are absolutely crucified.
Bugs in software : Must be your installation, I’ve got 6 Macs and all mine are fine, repair your disk, it’s third party software……………and then Apple release a fix in the point update.
My phone bent : You work for Samsung, you are an Apple hater, you don’t have enough posts here, I never carry mine in my pocket you’re not supposed to.

Kind of a poor analogy/comparison. The rulers stated they were shatterproof. Where did Apple or anyone else state that the iPhone 6 wouldn't bend?

I think people are taking this whole bending issue WAY to far, and creating arguments for argument sake.

Heh heh. I forgot about the old days. Yeah, tons of folks claiming "my screen just broke itself! I didn't drop it or anything!"

I had the 4 and the 4s in our household and never experienced antenna issues. I've also owned a number of Macbook Pros, and again...no issues. Not making excuses or defending. My initial comment still holds; Macrumors and other forums are the exception not the rule.

There is no reason to try to break my stuff, other than make your day a little brighter. Sorry but I'm not biting.

The iPhone 6 is absolutely indestructible – said no one, ever!

Will my iPhone 6 stand up to day to day use? I predict that it will, it seems solidly built. If by chance it does not, I will let Apple know and get a replacement.

Agree with you on that one for sure. Their (Apples) arrogance doesn't do them any favours when there are actually problems.

The point is it was intentionally made strong enough for normal use and a bit more - this is absolutely on the limit.
Normal use or not, I am careful with my equipment. If I have a time when I amy put something on top of it or lean over something to pick up an object I am gonna be annoyed if it bends.
My car is designed for normal roads. If I hit a huge pothole, (and have but usually I avoid them), I would still expect my alloy wheel to be straight and my tyre not to be punctured. Is going over potholes normal use or is it a one off?

It may, or it may not be. No one knows. But here's some advice... Take care of your things. ESPECIALLY things that cost hundreds of dollars. If the phone does have a defect, or if it DOES "bend" under normal wear... take it back to Apple. The phones have a 1 year warranty. They will do everything in their power to help you out. Their customer service is great.

If you are a person who enjoys breaking things, or if you want a phone to take mountain biking, or out in the construction site, then either get yourself a STRONG case, or a different phone.

Now, I ask again... HAVE YOU SET YOUR CAR ON FIRE TO SEE IF IT BURNS? Why not?

That’s fine and I believe you. I still however beileve that Apple ran too close to the wire here.

Good. Maybe you can explain what dragging your HDTV behind a truck has to do with iPhones bending in people's pockets.

IPhone are not bending in people's pocket unless you can prove it. And you didn't.

But if they bent when picking up a piece of meat, it would be an issue.

Indeed. But do you know about someone bent his iPhone during a phone call or writing an email?

Because it doesn’t say fire proof. I have however tested my HV gloves to 1000V. That is the faith I have in the product.
I would and have also given my 5S a bloody good flex, (since this thread started), to test the strength even though the box does not say flexible on it. I would not however try my iPhone 6 at the same test and that is the faith I have in that product.

Have faith in your phone, give it a quick flex, go on.

Again, not a very good analogy. If I'm driving along and whack a pothole, which I too have done, and cause damage I wouldn't be surprised at all. In fact if I didn't I'd be surprised. I won't get into all the particulars of that comparison, but one guy hitting it @ 25MPH-30MPH is going to have a better outcome than a guy hitting it at 50MPH.

I think I know what you're getting at, but I think everyone gets too wrapped up in some of these things. Even if 50 people came forward with a bend issue, that's still pretty small. And we really don't know what the circumstances are/were to cause those phones to bend. Its also very plausible that some of these problems can be associated to batches of phones. I'm not talking about the clowns that stand there shaking like morons, with white knuckles trying to destroy a perfectly good device. I don't think any batch could withstand that abuse, and it is just that...abuse.

For me, I'll use it as intended, under my circumstances. If it bends, and Apple doesn't stand behind it, then shame on them, and I'll begin to rethink my next purchase(s) from them. Otherwise, enjoy the device...

Does the iPhone say bend proof?

You're seriously asking that?

Real. World. Use.

Grabbing a phone and trying as hard as you can to bend it is not real world use – your just busting a phone.

It has not been proven that the iPhone 6 bends in pockets. Many phones might bend or break in a rear pocket if you sit on them. Out of the millions and millions of iPhone 6's sold there are a very few claiming that the phone bent in their front pocket. The millions upon millions of other users whose phones are perfectly fine mean nothing , I guess.
I'm start thinking they aren't even listen to common sense post like this.
They are totally focused on a phone that bends without considering that the idiot on the video took it with two hands, put two thumbs in a single weak spot and applied full force to torn it.
How's that considered as normal USAGE is way beyond my comprehension....

So it's in one place where you work, do you have any proof of it being all over London?

Don't Really Care - Why is this news?

Why is the bending thing such a big deal? Just don't sit on your phone. Don't take both hands and forcefully try to break it. It's not that difficult.

It's only a big deal on MR...because gasp! three people posted pictures of a bent phone. Hopefully Tim cook has another job lined up because apple should be out of business by December
