Perhaps you missed this post.

I don't know if I'm making the point clear enough, let me know.

You’re not. Obviously neither am I.
Presidents, independent organisations are not above lying and manipulating data and presenting things in just the right way. Just remember neither is Apple, in fact large organisations are usully better at it than individuals. That’s the point.
1930s though? Don’t even think they were making cars then. Nope didn’t miss the post.

----------

We'll agree to disagree that cars passing safety tests and iphones bending are different in principle....

Looks like we’re going to have to. The attitude that 'we can release a product that doesn’t exceed the last and it’s fine’, is not one I’d want from anybody working for me.
I bet your boss loves you.

All this talk about bendable iPhones is simply a distraction. The real story hear is that Apple will struggle to gain traction in markets in Asia and the Far East, Europe to for that matter.

But for the U.S. market Apple would be an also ran in mobiles.

I thought they were doing pretty well in the US?

Anyway, 10.10 GM is out, so I bid you goodbye for now, I need to see details……....

That's true, but imagine a scale from 1 to 10, give a score indicating trust or credibility on that scale for both Consumer Reports and videos posted on YouTube. You seem to appear to think that this 1 example completely discredits CR, while giving a pass for someone who is making his money by blogging about and tests tech gadgets, completely financed by ad money. Anonymous clips, well they are anonymous, that is you have know way of knowing who posted it.

I was thinking of Consumer Reports they have been going since 1936. Read more about that and them on their about page.

This is where I disagree. I don't necessarily think it's "lying" anymore than you are lying in saying that the phone "does not exceed the last". by YOUR standards it doesn't exceed. By some, it's bigger, faster, better screen, better looking design, thinner, better camera, NFC, more bands... it DOES exceed the last.

As far as "breakability", I believe (but I may be wrong) the media outlets claiming that it's more durable are taking ALL aspects into account. Probably drops, the way it scratches and dings, screen strength, water resistance... Not just Bend tests. I don't think those are "lies" also. Simply because someone chooses not to believe it, doesn't make it a lie.

The undignified tactics of the competition and their paid army of bashers are still on a roll. wow
Lol..

There is absolutely ..and i repeat absolutely nothing wrong with either iPhone 6 or 6 +

You've posted and re-posted this a couple of times, so I will respond in kind to all of it, point by point.

Based on what's out there, you cannot say with absolute certainty that "there is nothing wrong with the iPhone 6 Plus," no matter how many times you "repeat this." No one can. At the very least this isn't exactly looking good for Apple.

Now let's address all your "facts":

FACTS:
-iPhone 6 and 6+ have been awarded best in class and least likely to break phones by independent agencies. FACT!!!
By whom? I haven't read that the iPhone is the least likely to break by anyone. What I have read is that other phones are more resistant to bending or breaking.....some by a lot.

-Consumer reports has varified that the bending issue is bogus!

Are you honestly saying this is a fact? Where did Consumers say that the reported iPhone 6 Plus bending are bogus? They just determined, that in their estimation one wouldn't have to worry about it bending under normal use. HOWEVER, in their testing, they only applied pressure to the center and NOT the weak spot where the phone seems to bend more easily.
-The Canadian idiots video ( who out of the goodness of his heart has blown 4000+ dollors in 48 hours to bend phones ..lol) has been proven to be fake and doctored.

Where are you getting your information other than your biased opinion? Nobody ever proved that their videos were fake or doctored, so how is that fact? This is fact:

http://www.forbes.com/sites/anthony...nd-viral-iphone-6-plus-bender-are-both-right/

-Apple has exposed their testing to the media and it is an incredible exhaustive process of testing !

Apple's testing was just as flawed (and perhaps disingenous) as Consumer's testing. Again, neither exerted force on the weak spot.

-Competition has been left in the dust by the new iphone design.
-Best in class, thinnest, lighthes true 64 bit processor and os .. Leaps and bounds ahead of competition.

I much prefer Apple to the competition, but let's not deny this is a legitimate concern. Other phones have proven to be at least more durable (in your stated and often-mentioned CR testing). Not to mention that iOS 8 has been less than impressive and that Apple goofed big time with their update. So, how can you say the product is better than the competition at this point? But yeah, I prefer Apple and the iPhone, but Android phones have beaten the iPhone in some crucial benchmarks. Long story short, I'd still buy an iPhone even though many Android phones have proven to be superior in many aspects, including speed and display resolution.

It is the competition spreading disinformation and fud! They can't compete so they are spreading Fud.. Absolutely pathetic. .

You claim this is a fact, as if the bending episodes never happened to honest-to-goodness iPhone owners, some true Apple lovers. Have you any documentation to prove otherwise? Till then it's not FACT.

( another funny fact!... All those competition's PR people who immediately jumped on the bandwagon to degrade and mock apple through tweets... Were tweeting from iphones ... Lol)

Yet another false statement by you that you present as fact. ALL? Or did it happen to ONE pertson (an LG rep I believe). Hyperbole and exaggeration doesn't do much for one's credibility

All of you who are victims of these trolls... Please do yourself a favor and go to an apple store and see it for yourself !

Some have. A couple of moron kids in the UK actually bent iPhones at an Apple Store. Will that happen with great frequency with normal use? That remains to be seen, but it's not looking good no matter how anyone tries to spin it.
A Phone only needs to be as strong as a phone needs to be.. Overkill is a waste.

Overkill? Like bending in one's pocket as some have claimed and for which you or I have no proof otherwise?

Bs has limits
Being undignified is being pushed to newer lows...
There are so many things wrong with the claims if the completion that it is ridiculous .they have created a bogus story and are pushing it into publics mind as reality ....

No clue what you're trying to say here, so you might want to clarify. I will say that it is NOT a fact (as you say) that these claims are bogus. Can you prove that they're bogus or lies? I didn't think so. Opinion does not equal fact.

Given all the above ... Some of you are still falling for the Fud spread by the lowlife competition.
Dont be so naive and dont feed the evil approach of the lowlives .

Still not sure why you're so passionate about what others are experiencing. "Naive, " "evil," "lowlives." Really? Is this really troubling you this much?

Again do yourselves a favor and go to an apple store!
The truth is there for u to see.. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the new iPhones.. Nothing !!! .

The rest is bull!

Ps .. Dont u wonder why there is so much passionate hate for apple on this thread? Have asked yourself why? And who is fueling it?
Its so obvious ...and those who fall for it are empowering the undignified ! And u know who they are!

Since you seemingly have the answers, why don't you tell us. Just be careful not to mistake opinion for fact, as you're doing in your entire above post.

The attitude that "we should release a product that should be able to withstand things its not meant to" is not one I'd want from anyone leading me.

Thankfully, you will never be my boss and I'm certain your nobody's either.

Wrong. Again.
I gotta say what a hilarious reply. We both know that, again with the cars but could be a lot of things, they are designed to withstand conditions you won’t normally see. Cold and hot weather testing in the same vehicle, that’s what they test/design to and yes they know that some will fail. But who the hell will do that with their car, virtually nobody.

Be the best you can be no?
I see now where Trapezoid comes from. It’s a shape that has the corners cut?

Not sure if you meant that no one would go through Cold AND hot with their car... but if you did, for example in New York, the summers can get extremely hot. the record high is 42c (108 F) and Winters get well below freezing. IMO, it's a valid test.

I don't think Apple assumed people would be deliberately applying 70+ lbs of force with their hands on a phone. Or maybe they figured there would be SOME idiots out there to do that but figured that the cost to replace those few devices was not worth changing the thinness or design.

Durability isn't a binary value, it's a continuum. With aluminum, stresses will also be additive (metal fatigue). A 6 Plus could be fine for a year under normal use, then get the bends on the second year.

Considering all these reports within the first few days, the outlook is not good.

Keep speaking about metal fatigue... Is a frakking phone, not a metallic bridge!!! You are supposed to type on it, not jumping on it.

Well, if you don't believe this video then you truly really are living in denial, brave kids, but typical teenager behaviour doing this I guess, there's a bit of swearing in the video too.

Dishonest and stupid kids... I really hope Apple will make them pay for the 2-3 iPhones they intentionally ruined in the store.

Keep speaking about metal fatigue... Is a frakking phone, not a metallic bridge!!! You are supposed to type on it, not jumping on it.

And when you're not typing on it you're supposed to pay someone to walk around with it on a pillow like a ring bearer...

Why don't you make a video trying to bend your 1520? If it breaks we'll take up a collection and send you the money via Apple Pay. :D

Here is my report from my own iPhone 6 Plus bend testing at the Apple store in the Fashion Valley mall in San Diego.
The first thing I noticed is that from all the iPhone 6 Plus on display, at least one was already slightly bent (about 2mm).
I myself performed bend tests on two separate iPhone 6 Plus, both of which appeared in perfect shape and looked very new. The things to keep in mind is that I am employed at a major University and thus did not want to make a scene; and, in the spirit of full disclose, I train in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and thus my hands are stronger than those of the average pencil pusher. For these reasons, I did not perform the bend test in its usual form. In order not to draw attention to myself I was pretending to be oohing and aahing over Apple’s newest magical gadget. I was holding the iPhone 6 in front of me (looking at the screen), with my thumbs each pressing the topmost front left and right corners, while my index and middle fingers where pressing from the back in the area where the cutouts for the volume controls are (the palms of my hands where resting on the sides of the iPhone toward the bottom). The result is that it was shockingly easy to bend the iPhone 6 Plus even with this awkward technique. Also worth noticing is that both iPhones I tested were slightly warm. Of course (to avoid detection), I did not go for complete destruction (with screen popping off), and stopped bending once the bend was about 3mm.
In conclusion, thanks to my above average grip strength I was able to quickly bend two iPhone 6 Plus in a highly awkward situation and using a very ineffective bending technique. I can only imagine how easy it would be to bend the iPhone 6 Plus using the procedures shown in most youtube videos.
PS: Too bad (for obvious reasons), I could not publish my findings on http://www.oneofthenine.com/

#bendgate is real

Seriously is destroying phones at apple store going to be a thing now. So many idiots in this world.

#bendgate is real

Sure it is....

Only registers now and either outright lying or has just confessed to a crime (yes going into a store with the intent to damage their property is a crime). Now just tell us who you are so we can notify the proper authorities.

I found it disturbing how little force they used to bend that phone.

Aside from that, the sandy haired chick focused on when talking to the Apple droid is HOT.

I found it disturbing how two idiots can enter an Apple store and basically destroy three or four expensive devices.
Their parents did a very poor work with their education....

An the guy you are calling "Apple droid" is just an employee doing his job. You'd better give people more respect....

----------

Actually some on here ARE refusing to believe these bending videos claiming the ones by Unbox Therapy as false, and YES the phone will bend under normal use as every video shows, it does NOT take a lot of pressure to bend the device, that's the problem.

You need to watch the video again because they bent it on the first try, then repeatedly bent it.
There is nothing, I say again NOTHING, comparable to normal use in those stupid videos.
There are just VANDALS destroying expensive devices in a store.

This whole issue is plain false, not because a 6 mm thick slate of aluminum can't bend, but because the way they are being it is an intentional act of destruction that has nothing to do with NORMAL usage including putting a phone in your pocket. Period.

Sure it is....

LOL, no I won't tell you my name.
I don't want the Apple secret police squad ("REACT") to come after me!
http://articles.latimes.com/2010/may/05/business/la-fi-silicon-police-20100505

'"It's the iPolice," said Steve Meister, a former Los Angeles County deputy district attorney. "This whole thing appears, rightly or wrongly, to be law enforcement doing the bidding of a private company.'

I had a feeling this kind of stuff would happen.

Next I wonder what kind of security measures Apple will employ in their stores. If Apple does nothing, there will probably be more of this kind of vandalism, people will start seeing bent phones on display at Apple stores, which will keep a spotlight focused on the issue. If Apple were to mandate an employee be present while any person is handling an iPhone 6/6+, people will ask why, Apple will respond because of the "bending vandalism", which will also keep a spotlight focused on the issue.

Either way, if "bendgate" moves to this stage of in store vandalism, from people who think they are doing a "service", it's bad for Apple by keeping the story alive.

P.S. I am not saying there is not a bending problem either.

Thanks to those criminal idiots, Apple could decide to keep us from actually trying devices exposed in Apple store.
That is what the silly hate against Apple by fanboys well give us.
I would like to say thank you to every single fandroid of this forum for that.

Brave kids? They are criminals.

Indeed. And they deserve to be treated like that.

An iPhone 6 bend test left a German tech magazine
with bigger worries than a needlessly broken smartphone: The publication was reportedly banned from future Apple events and told it would no longer receive the Cupertino company’s latest products for review.

Telzerow goes on to say that Computer Bild (A GERMAN MAGAZINE) was “shocked” at how easy it was to bend the 6 Plus, and even more surprised when an Apple PR representative called to say the magazine would no longer be invited to Apple events. But the publication pledges not to abandon its principles, and vows to continue its “incorruptible tests.”

“We congratulate you to your fine new generation of iPhones, even if one of them has a minor weakness with its casing,” Telzerow says. “But we are deeply disappointed about the lack of respect of your company.”

This isn’t the first time Apple has banned certain publications for bad press. Back in November, Cult of Mac columnist Mike Elgan revealed that the company — like many others — has a “blacklist” of people in the media who are punished for their “disloyalty.”

“The Apple ‘blacklist’ for most journalists appears to result from some combination of criticism, cynicism or coverage about specific topics — or breaking the company’s ‘rules’ for coverage,” Elgan wrote. “For example, criticizing Steve Jobs, Apple’s history and culture, or super-harshly criticizing their products will gain most journalists lifelong inclusion on the ‘blacklist.’”

The power of videos or images that quickly move around the world through the internet or network television is undeniable. Videos and pictures are definitely influencing (even changing) people's minds or at least forming initial opinions, regardless if those opinions are correct or not. People believe what they see.

Remember the videos of the Rodney King beating in Los Angeles years ago, those videos triggered massive riots in Los Angeles. How about the video of the student in China's Tiananmen Square defying a tank, that had a massive impact on the minds of people all over the world.

The bottom line, history has proven over and over that videos and pictures absolutely have a HUGE impact on forming/changing people's minds. People seeing constant videos and pictures of bent iPhones, for better or worse, is having an impact (e.g., changing/forming) people's minds.
I understand your point, but please don't even put in the same sentence the student in China Tiananmen Square and those idiots YouTubers.... Please.

I understand your point

Im glad you agree. ;)

Normal use is putting the phone in your pocket, looking at how little force is required to bend the device at it's weak point, then I do believe in normal use the iPhone 6 Plus is going to bend eventually. And I am talking about front trouser pockets, not back pockets.

It's not little force. It's two hands force and two thumbs on a single spot leverage...
Again, for the million time, show me a video of someone bending an iPhone by putting in his pocket. I'm waiting...
