There is not a single drop test with any objective data backup, so all the drop test on YouTube are junk, favorable or not, all trash reports.

Interesting. You say that no drop test is objective. Then how can anyone claim that those YouTube videos are valid since they are in no way objective? Apple and Consumer Reports use machines that will tell you exact measurements. The YouTube guy can maybe say, "I pressed on it hard."

Errr... Come on, you really can't lift 90lbs with both arms??? That's only 40kg! My bike with the 5kg of locks and bags weights around that much and I'm still able to carry it daily up the stairs for the night.
Besides, we have videos of guys bending it with their fingers... Either these guys should compete for Mr Universe or it's actually not that hard to exercise 90lbs... There is a difference between lifting a weight and just exercising strength for a very brief time!

And we're not talking about bending it with your arms, but with your hip flexor - if the phone is in the front pocket of your pants, it's bend when you flex your leg from the pressure between leg and hip. You certainly can exercise more than 90lbs with your hip flexor, that's the strongest muscle in the human body and if you couldn't you would be unable to walk or to climb stairs...

Note: Yes, I'm aware that force is not measure by a unit of mass but in newtons... But since consumer reports has chosen to use that unit in its scientific report...

Very nicely done.

What is the meaning of try to bend a phone with your hands? Is what you are going to do with your expensive smartphone after buying it?

Geez, I think a lot of people need a reality check here. YouTube blown their mind.....

Bending by hand test...

Is this for real???

what I want to see and no one has managed to show yet is the bending by front pocket....

Strange nobody has done this ....

Ok then, it's marketing!
Is there anything misleading in it though that I would feel cheated for my money I have spend? And second, is there any other company that can effort but does not do marketing same way?? I honestly have rarely seen any Apple products on billboards where I live. I see Samsung products on every corner on a huge billboards. Not to mention on the Internet, everywhere. Featured on the top of YOuTube site etc.. I want to know if Apple is doing some sort of marketing that other giant tech companies aren't?

Nope, they are all doing it. It depends how far you push it though. I believe, (and that emboldened bit is important), that Apple have taken this thickness/thinness thing too far. That opinion also extends to their desktops and portable computers.

----------

Are you kidding me? My bike weighs 11 kg's. And yes I can lift a 45 kg barbell from the floor but that would be around my limit. For example I cannot lift two 22 kg dumbbells, I have tried this.

Edit: Oh you mean motorbike, my mind went to bicycle. :)

I gotta say the thought of a 40Kg bike made my eyes open wide too.

That is the real truth. Consumer Reports test is flawed and doesn't tell the story of once pressure is applied the phone is bent. Other phones snap back into place.

So the real truth is not a controlled scientific test but an amateur YouTube video..... Very interesting.
And I supposed that the real truth is just what pleased an Apple hater, right?

The HTC One M8 performed the worse. This has GOT to chap the asses of the Android fanboys, especially those who use that phone, who were so busy gloating over this non issue.

Yes isn't the HTC One considered by many (especially tech sites) to be the best designed phone on the market? Just tells me this issue is really a non-issue. If I run a key across the side of my car door it will scratch. Should I sue Honda for not making me a more durable and scratch resistant frame? I'd love to spend the weekend with YouTube wonder boy using a brand new 6 Plus under normal circumstances and see if the phone is bent after the weekend.

Your so out of touch with that opinion it's unreal. Seriously, so the people that pay $12,000 for the Vertu Android handsets are poor are they? The iPhone is not some sort of rich mans status symbol, I see PLENTY of kids with them. A person can have any phone they want, it does NOT mean you use a mobile phone to judge someones wealth, unless it's a VERTU that is.
You should learn the lesson to not judge a book by it's cover.

You are basically right, but I'm prone to think there aren't many Vertu users among the Apple bashers on this website :D

The complain is that the iphone 6 plus bends very easy on the upper part.

The official test it against the middle part. It can not prove or disapprove the complains.

If there is an official test agains the upper part, then this test is valid.

What's the point in it? A total recall? A special televised segment from Tom Cook saying yes our aluminum phone will bend with direct DELIBERATE pressure applied to it? I use my iphone 6+ daily and I'm not extraordinarily careful with it. In fact, since I've put the ghost armor on it, I more vigorous towards it and really could care less about a case unless it's one to extend battery life for a day or 2 or a LifeProof for water parks.

Show me where the LG G3 snapped back in to place. That frame looks cracked to me.

Nice. So according to the consumer reports results and this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IROcoJeVfSI

the HTC One should be worse than the iPhone 6 Plus. So why is no one talking about that?

Because it's not Apple :D

----------

Put the force adjacent to the volume cutout and I bet the 6 plus will bend easier, as that where the weak spot is. Failed test. :)

And why on earth someone would put a force applied on a single specific point while using or carrying a phone? Failed trolling attempt :p

Is this for real???

Actually someone has done this. SquareTrade did exactly the test you wanted by having someone put the phone in his front pocket. Did sitting tests and squats with the phone causing significant discomfort, attempting to replicate one of the nine complaints about how a customer's phone got bent. The phone didn't bend at all. They also had a woman try to bend the phone using fingers and thumbs at the "weakness" point near the volume controls. She also couldn't bend the phone. They did have a guy who can bench press 405 pounds, who bent it using "half strength."

This Tells Us Nothing

Don't most people weigh over 100lbs? So if the issue are morons who put their phones in their back pockets, their weight will be over 100lbs, thus the bending.

Glad this has finally been sorted once and for all. I presume there were some manufacturing defects in the few iPhones that have bent.

The same amount they got when spoke about the poor iPhone 4 antenna design.
But I would guess you were fine with Consumer Report then, right?

They were fine back then, because Jobs would never do that. Under Tim, things has changed. I am 100% certain Apple is paying media to back them up.

9 complains so far? Who believe that, there are far more bent cases that were not complained. Apple like to artificially lower the number just toke them looks good. Apple is the biggest liar in the planet.

Of course we take care of our stuff. We earn our money just like you. Why can't I hold Apple to the same durability standard as Samsung, or Motorola? When I buy an Omega, I expect it to be just as durable as my Rolex. I expect a Mercedes to be just as durable as a BMW. When I buy an iPhone 6 plus, I expect it to be as durable as a note 3 soon to be 4. It IS the responsibility of the product creator to make something that won't break when you put it in your pocket. Granted no one is going to go bend the crap out of their phone like in the videos, but how come every other phone doesn't bend as easily? Why can't I have this in my Apple product?

It won't bend in your pockets, unless you sit on it. So you actually have it in your Apple product like in your beloved Samsung.....

In Summary

In summary, to bend or break a phone in your pocket, you have to be incredibly stupid, or your azz is too big from sitting down playing candy crush for two years. Time to start using Health Kit instead.

I'm a massive Apple fan and wanted to believe that bend gate was just media hype, however after four days of use my plus was also bent.

No back pockets, no drops, just the same use I subjected all of my iPhones to since the 3G. I think Apple have a big problem here.

Photo of the problem here

I have a genius appointment on Monday, at which point I am expecting Apple to tell me they can't replace this phone as they are low on stock.

Yes, it bent by itself. Very plausible explanation.....

Absolutely. Mine bent just below the bottom volume button. There is clearly some sort of structural issue there. This test is flawed.

... our maybe someone inadvertently sat on it and now is trying to blame Apple for his mistake.
The good news are that they would probably give you a new phone.

Its really hilarious to see how apple fanboys are searching the whole internet for one single video/photo proof of iphone not bending and when they find it, they confidently say "put it to rest!"... sooner or later more and more bent iphones are going to pop up and you all know it, you just dont want to admit it yet because of your strange love for some company (im sure psihiatric analisys would come up with quite intereseting explanation to why is this such a case)

It's more hilarious how angry you are that tests by independent third parties are showing this is not an issue. Your rage is amusing.
