Let's not pretend that people exert 70 lbs of force in their front pockets when they sit down either.

I love how people are saying that because someone intentionally bent phones with their hands, that these are structural defects. Meanwhile, the M8, which is "weaker" than the iPhone6 has never had a bendgate. So many clowns on the internet.

theres been reports of M8's bending actually, its just that Apple sells like 10x more phones then HTC does, Apple's flagships outsells HTC's flagships by like 10x

I don't get it. The iPhone 6 is still about half as strong (70 to 130) as the other "non premium" & cheap phones. And we are all happy about it?

well, it may "bend" easier then other smartphones and past iPhones, but in SquareTrades testing, they performed better then ever and better then the competition in slide, dunk and drop tests

Id rather have this part of the phones durability and integrity increased over having "stronger resistance to bendability " lol when in real life scenarios my phone will never experience such intense pressure

No I got you now, I obviously misread you there, wasn't the only one either it seems. Also started this post before you posted your close up pictures.

I wasn't perfectly clear now that I go back and watch the video again, also someone else kinda implied that I had already gotten a replacement once and was going for a second.

Thanks for posting that.

When you bent it the second time, was it the same as the first like one would expect it to be if the orientation was the same? I'm curious if the results between top/bottom first would make much of a difference.

Yes it bent in the same spot, just not as bad.

Who has committed fraud?

What happened at the Genius Bar?

Well at first they went back and talked for a while then came out and said they weren't going to replace it, because bending isn't part of the warranty. I asked for the manager and explained that i have had all other iPhone models and never had an issue doing the same work in the same way I did with this one. He went back again and then the tech came out and replaced it under the EFFA program Early Field Failure Analysis program. Basically they gave me a new one and are sending mine to the Apple engineers to study and see if they have something to learn from it. Then I got me some AppleCare+ and went on my merry way.

I'm glad it went that way. Congratulations! I hope you don't have the same problems with the replacement!

When they said bending wasn't part of the warranty, was that in reply to you saying you had bent the phone back to original shape as much as you could after seeing it bent?

Glad it worked out for you.

Edited to add: Did you get the Genius Bar visit in writing?

I wasn't really sure about that honestly. I did tell him I bent it back and then it bent again. He may have weighed that at first, but did not say. He simply said bending is not covered but did not say me bending it back or it bending in general.

I did not get anything in writing, didn't think it was necessary since they went on ahead and replaced it.

I won't, because now I know that I can't do the same thing I have done with all phones I have had since 1996 when I got my first cellular phone. Keep it in my pocket and never worry about it.

People should be testing the iPod touch 5th generation seeing as it has an extremely similar design to the iPhone 6/6 Plus

I played with the iPhone 6 Plus in person and it feels pretty sturdy. But I also have a case to protect my expensive phone.

Anytime you are seeking / receiving warranty work and being addressed by a representative of the company in question, always get action taken in writing. If something like this happens with the new phone, it could help to have a paper trial. Sometimes, employees fail to properly followup with their incident logs, or aren't as detailed as they need to be. That is where having clear paperwork detailing the reason for the visit and what specific actions were taken by the staff can be important down the road. Hopefully, you won't have to worry about this happening again.

Wise decision to get AppleCare +.

You can't compare a 20th century flip phone to the 6+, you've got a 5.5 inch monster in your pocket and it needs to be treated differently. Apple vs Oranges...

I can understand Apple being reluctant to replace products that have been mistreated, but I'm glad you got the outcome you wanted.

90 lbs to bend the iPhone 6 Plus
130 lbs for the iPhone 5 (and probably 5s too)

Its thicker .... i don't need a video to tell me how much it the iPhone 6 would bend.. I just know it bends.. how much, is not even an issue.

The facts speak for themselves.

I don't think users won't buy this just because their scared their gonna break it when they plant their butt down. And if wanna go for that extreme measure, don't buy it. simple.

How are you doing old friend? :D:D

Doing pretty good. Been hanging out on the sidelines more nowadays. Always something everyday going on in tech world it seems. Hopefully this doesn't turn out to be a big deal so the peeps that spend the cash don't have to worry about it.

I hope it doesn't either. A few more weeks will be a good indicator whether it is a problem or not. Good to see you post.

Stop bending iPhone 6 and plus with hand and start wearing a loose jeans will not destroy your iPhone 6 and plus.

Agreed. That's my take as well, we should know by Halloween time. I'm not in any hurry for a new phone myself. Heck I kind of miss my flip phone, haha, those were the good old days. When phones weren't a lifestyle or defined a person.

I still remember when phones weren't a cult or religion. :D Some people take this stuff way too personal.
