If you think this is going to silence the bend gate morons you're wrong. these dumbasses are going to keep bitching and making fun for years.
there is no silencing senseless apple haters, especially since it seems to be hip nowadays.

Sadly I agree. There is no convincing haters.

Consumer reports, we hate those idiots. populist scum wanting to make their name better at the expense of apple. Nobody has issues with their signal strength whatever these people say.

wait..

Oh consumer reports, great job, you are doing wonderful stuff.

I've gotta say this story has floored me from the beginning. I've been buying pocket gizmos and gadgets for years, well before there were iDevices or even cell phones. One very basic principle of this is-- take care of your stuff! And yes-- pants pockets are risky places for a gadget. It's always been obvious that if you put something in a trouser pocket, you are risking some damage.

So, for the people who don't agree with this-- can you please explain your mind set? Do you feel that it's not your responsibility to take care of your own stuff? Do you feel products should be able to stand up to any kind of abuse? Do you feel pants pockets exist, and you have them, and you darn well are going to use them, and it's the responsibility of the product creator to figure out how to live in your universe and damed them if they don't? Please, explain this to me. Cause I'm old school, and if I spend my hard-earned money to buy my stuff, I'm damn sure going to take care of it.

Of course we take care of our stuff. We earn our money just like you. Why can't I hold Apple to the same durability standard as Samsung, or Motorola? When I buy an Omega, I expect it to be just as durable as my Rolex. I expect a Mercedes to be just as durable as a BMW. When I buy an iPhone 6 plus, I expect it to be as durable as a note 3 soon to be 4. It IS the responsibility of the product creator to make something that won't break when you put it in your pocket. Granted no one is going to go bend the crap out of their phone like in the videos, but how come every other phone doesn't bend as easily? Why can't I have this in my Apple product?

I'm a massive Apple fan and wanted to believe that bend gate was just media hype, however after four days of use my plus was also bent.

No back pockets, no drops, just the same use I subjected all of my iPhones to since the 3G. I think Apple have a big problem here.

I have a genius appointment on Monday, at which point I am expecting Apple to tell me they can't replace this phone as they are low on stock.

The Consumer Reports test is not flawed and addresses the exact issue you're talking about. It points out two levels of failure: deformation and when the screen comes loose from the case. The deformation is the permanent bending you're talking about.

Do you think the test would come out differently if they applied the pressure near the volume buttons where the phone tend to be bending from rather than the center?

Replace haters with blind consumer and it also makes sense.

I honestly do feel bad for you, but thank you for the post. I came here hoping to be convinced to buy an iPhone but it looks like its really not happening.

Probably. But I wasn't addressing that. I was addressing your statement saying it's flawed because other phones "snap back into place."

Absolutely. Mine bent just below the bottom volume button. There is clearly some sort of structural issue there. This test is flawed.

Many people I know had talked about getting the 5.5 while it was still a rumor. I said any phone that size would break in half in my pocket. Lo and behold...

At least Apple is able to make enough iPhone 6s to supply the increasing demand of professional bend testers.

Mythbusters need to weigh in to seal the deal.

Meh. I'm sure they're in on it too. This is the greatest conspiracy in all of human history. Makes that whole Kennedy thing look like a bunch of amateurs. I wonder what they threatened consumer reports with. I'd guess anal probing.

Guarantee all the apple fans now love consumer reports after swearing to never read them again after they claimed the iPhone 4 had a faulty antenna.

I guess it bothers you that a reputable entity such as Consumer Reports put this dead horse to the grave. Sorry if this proven news article ruins it for the rest who enjoy seeing Apple's products get dragged in the media mud. :D

BOOYAHHHH!!!

that attention whore youtube poster should feel the wrath of apple. all he did was create a trap and everyone fell for it and he got PAID!!! for all the youtube views. these scammers are the paparazzis of the tech world. they will anything to make tech companies look bad and generate views.

I think you meant You are (You're) and if you read my post carefully, I haven't said that this implies to all the android users. I am just sick and tired of these fanboys who come to this forum which is clearly meant for Apple users (heck the name is Macrumors) and go on and on about how Android phones are superior. This is not a "longest dick" competition. We look for end user experience while the fAndroids look for specs. I did not mean any disrespect but sometimes we need to put things in the right perspective.

Well I try not to look for specs, I look for what I need, I mean I was looking at the Sony Xperia Z3 compact because of the camera, yet in EVERY single video I've seen comparing it to the iPhone 6, the iPhone has a MUCH better automatic camera IMO, which is what I want. Hmm maybe we are all victims of specs?

But lots of us have different devices, and they just air their views, it always gets like this though every year. Apple have kinda invited it a bit this year though with it's slating of Androids bigger screens for years and I even think it said it had a dim view on NFC payments once? They needed to swallow some humble pie this year, take it on the chin, and that's ruffled the other platform fans I guess? Does seem to have been a lot of new members on here recently I have to say.

Then releasing 8.0.1 hasn't helped them either.

After looking at latest bend video on unbox therapy. It got me thinking that maybe the major flaw is not the aluminium but the screen delaminating. Maybe the glue process needs to be refined. This could explain why the second phone bent so much easier.

It looked like this one which I thought was fake.

If the screen delimitates it will compromise the aluminium frame, same as a compromised windshield reduces roll over survivability.

This could also explain why some Iphones 6 do not bend.
