fAndroids are a bunch of have nots

These fAndroids are a bunch of have nots who would lap up any apple product if they could afford. Now that they cannot dole out the cash to buy these awesome devices, they will cry hoarse to justify their own purchases which are sad copies of iPhone anyway. Before you hurl me with abuses think touch screen, Touch ID even the color (Champagne) which was blatantly copied by Samsung (Same song). They tried beating apple to wearables and you saw the result. fAndroids, we don't care about you losers. We are happy in our own garden of eden. Do us a favor and stop trolling these Apple sites.

Not saying that video is fake, but it's odd that the phone goes to the home screen when he turns it on. If it was truly a brand new phone, it would go to the "Hello" welcome screen. Sure, he could've went through that process beforehand.. but why? Also.. if he wanted to prove it was a brand new phone.. why didn't he unbox it on camera as well?

Having used my iP6+ for a day, I wouldn't worry about it even if it did bend easily as I'd never put it in a situation to bend it in the first place. Nice report by CR.

Your so out of touch with that opinion it's unreal. Seriously, so the people that pay $12,000 for the Vertu Android handsets are poor are they? The iPhone is not some sort of rich mans status symbol, I see PLENTY of kids with them. A person can have any phone they want, it does NOT mean you use a mobile phone to judge someones wealth, unless it's a VERTU that is.
You should learn the lesson to not judge a book by it's cover.

Ok, I see your point then. But this report isn't a real world test as it is done on a specific point, not replicating a phone being in a pocket, then again neither are the hand bending tests replicating a pocket.

As I said this is one that will need time to be confirmed or not.

I would think the pocket could not possibly duplicate that much pounds of force no matter how tight your skinny jeans are.

The backward cap kid is a loser who appealed to losers that think apple is doomed. He made his money getting the losers to view his video and reshare it and make stupid memes and hashtags.

MR made money posting articles so the losers could pretend it was a real issue lol.

Gotta feel bad for the losers! MR and backwards hat kid saw them coming a mile away. Smart business.

That is the real truth. Consumer Reports test is flawed and doesn't tell the story of once pressure is applied the phone is bent. Other phones snap back into place.

Except that it does, it also answers the question of how much force is applied before it happens.

Things Apple screwed up this month:

-keynote stream
-installing a crappy U2 album on everyone's devices
-pre-orders crashing the website for 2 hours
-iOS 8.0.1

Things Apple didn't screw up

-bendgate
-celebrity iCloud hacks

The same thing happens whenever Apple puts out a new iPhone. It happened with the iPhone 5, when people were complaining that the phone was too light. It happened with the iPhone 5s, when people were complaining about Touch ID being hackable. The same thing is happening now and it's not surprising. It will happen next year, and for every future iteration of the iPhone.

Imagine that. What was known to be a total non issue (by people who know anything about it) is being time and again demonstrated to be in fact, a total non issue.

Next time let's wait to call it a bend gate until more than the same handful of photos from a few sources with extremely shady/unbelievable stories attached come out.

The comedy of it all is that we call any hiccup someGate in jest, it's just another meme, but the 6 o'clock news is reading everyone's forums and reporting someGate as a real thing.

Like they say BendGate with a straight face, and that just cracks me up.

But some guy with a webcam bent it with his hands and it bent! Why should I believe a nationally recognized consumer research company over that?

He is not a loser if he's making money from You Tube videos! He's creative and clever and I would do it if i could! Saves going to an office everyday, unboxing and reviewing gadgets and tech from your home successfully!

I can't comment for the people who have signed up to this site in the last week...

I think you meant You are (You're)

I think you meant You are (You're) and if you read my post carefully, I haven't said that this implies to all the android users. I am just sick and tired of these fanboys who come to this forum which is clearly meant for Apple users (heck the name is Macrumors) and go on and on about how Android phones are superior. This is not a "longest dick" competition. We look for end user experience while the fAndroids look for specs. I did not mean any disrespect but sometimes we need to put things in the right perspective.

Put the force adjacent to the volume cutout and I bet the 6 plus will bend easier, as that where the weak spot is. Failed test. :)

I've gotta say this story has floored me from the beginning. I've been buying pocket gizmos and gadgets for years, well before there were iDevices or even cell phones. One very basic principle of this is-- take care of your stuff! And yes-- pants pockets are risky places for a gadget. It's always been obvious that if you put something in a trouser pocket, you are risking some damage.

So, for the people who don't agree with this-- can you please explain your mind set? Do you feel that it's not your responsibility to take care of your own stuff? Do you feel products should be able to stand up to any kind of abuse? Do you feel pants pockets exist, and you have them, and you darn well are going to use them, and it's the responsibility of the product creator to figure out how to live in your universe and damed them if they don't? Please, explain this to me. Cause I'm old school, and if I spend my hard-earned money to buy my stuff, I'm damn sure going to take care of it.

So yes, even if the volume rocker is the weakest part of the phone, which actually alot of devices also have this weakness, by the volume rocker, what real life world scenario would really ever inniate pressure concentrated on the volume rocker area besides forcible intentional bending and by sitting on your phone in your back pocket(which btw , anyone who does this to their phone , their phone deserves to get treated like that , I will never in my life sit on my phone in my back pocket) ?

Putting your phone in your front pocket dam sure wont put this type of pressure on your device concentrated by the volume rocker as the pressure on your phone in your pocket actually is more spread out by the contour of your thigh and jeans pressing down on your thigh/pocket.

Who to believe?

Consumer Reports Scientific test or that person we have never heard of on YouTube? :p I pick Consumer Reports than some random individual on YouTube. :)

So you mean to tell me the Plastic Galaxy Note 3 is sturdier than pretty much all of the "premium build" iPhones? I honestly wasn't expecting this at all(no sarcasm).

I was surprised by that too. I had a feeling it would be better, because I saw the guy who did the iPhone bend test did another video with the Note 3 and afterward he commented on how solid it was. But 150 pounds until any damage?? WOW!

Any comparison or test involving the Note 3 should be taken with a grain of salt at this point, though, since it's going to be replaced by the 4 in a month. The Note 4 has a re-designed frame done in metal this time, so it would be interesting to see how it compares to the 3 in a test like this...

The Consumer Reports test is not flawed and addresses the exact issue you're talking about. It points out two levels of failure: deformation and when the screen comes loose from the case. The deformation is the permanent bending you're talking about.

Plastic has a better tendency to return to its initial shape. People who favor metal phones don't seem to like the flex of plastic. The metal frame phones are definitely more rigid. Plastic can also crack, but it shouldn't if the manufacturer doesn't skimp on materials.

If you want to make a bunch of money from YouTube views, just make a video titled "Bendgate Debunked!!!". Grab an iPhone 6 Plus and act like you're applying a lot of pressure, when you're really not. State that the other videos must have phones that've been tampered with because you're not able to bend it with your hands.. Easy money, even if you're lying.. and you won't risk damaging your phone haha. You know the average person will never try anyways.
