This argument about just how widespread the REAL issue is (one of actual consistent dropped calls and data, not just signal bars dropping) will continue until enough iP4 owners have the issue and return the phone...until then, it is simply a rhetorical argument...(and please don't tell me that this will never happen because the Appel Fanboys will never return the phone no matter how badly the dropped call issue affects them LOL)...

That came from Consumer Reports?

The same Consumer Reports that bitches about the littlest thing?

The very same Consumer Reports that will throw anyone under the bus at any opportunity?

wow

Looks like he is squeezing the meat of his hand and smothering the lower area of the phone. not sure if you can determine pressure from that video. the harder he may be squeezing, the more skin will stay stationary on that one spot with little air in between. if he were to bring the phone to his with that grip, he would look like a complete fool.

Oh my god.

I noticed one post from a fellow in Germany says he nor anyone he knows has been able to replicate this issue. Any other Europeans able to say the same thing? I'f it's just a US thing, then it's gotta be more on ATT, you'd think.

In general, cell phone coverage Nd signal strength is much better in Europe. So it's no wonder there aren't reports of the problem. It's a low-signal-area problem. I only have the problem when I'm in an are that I know has poor coverage.

Dammit aggie! I can't stop looking at your avatar!

I have the same issue. There is another one or two. One with a female leg with underwear involved and I'm so ecstatic that I forgot what the other one was...

Oh, yes. The other one has some big boobies.

What a troll response. Explains why so many whiners. This board is filled with little kids.

Nice video of someone doing something in the dark and it makes a buzz sound? Where is you video? Or you just like to complain for attention?

Anyway, going to go and enjoy my iPhone 4, holding it like a human being in any hand I want.

how much does apple pay for puff pieces like this?
Well said, when a company with a charismatic ultra "hip" billionaire CEO wants things their way, like a recalcitrant child, they get it... every time. Not many people will say no to Jobs. Surrounded by mesmerized followers he calls all the shots.

He _tells_ people what they want, when they want it, and how much they will pay for it.

Once they've bought it, they dare not be critical or he'll straighten them out. After all what could they know? They are the village idiots.

So because Consumer Reports says, I should just ignore the dozens of YouTube video evidence and the technical breakdown done by some very smart people. Gotcha.

I think you might have missed my point.

Regardless of whether one thinks this issue is legitimate or not (obviously there have been arguments going both ways ad nauseum here on MR), actually squeezing the phone (applying force) will not make a difference in signal strength. The antenna is not pressure sensitive.

"I'm stronger than you so I can make the signal weaker!" :p

That's why I thought it was funny that so many article talk about squeezing the phone hard.

The harder you squeeze, the higher the surface area between your hand and the antenna...

I've yet to see a "smart" person do that on a youtube video. The only "smart" person I've seen do it is Anandtech. They did it in a very scientific way. And they concluded the iPhone 4 still had better reception than previous iPhones, even though it attenuates more.

The people on the youtube videos are average joes that frankly don't know what they are talking about.

Oh, great ruin it for me. Now I have to go question my sexuality! :p

If PNutts thinks Xenia Seeberg looks like a guy, well, he must have eyesight problems:

I chose the pics of her as Xev in Lexx, since I liked the series (and her).
VVVVVVVVVVVV

I have the antenna issue problem on my iPhone 4, however, I have never lost any bars and never ever dropped any calls. I have also found that I have great signal strength in areas where it was marginal with my 3Gs.

Why is this so, you may ask. It is because I use a case for it, that's why! I originally put the case on to protect the phone and keep it pristine looking as long as possible. When I heard of the antenna problem it took it off and tested the phone and yes I had it. I put the case back on and no problem.

Therefore it is a non-issue to me.

When Apple comes out with the update I'll download it and be just as happy as I am now. It is a great piece of computer kit and I feel that anyone who returns their phone because they can't use it without a case is making a mistake, but that's the road they have chosen.

People who carry glass iPhone should always use cases.

I found the CU article quite correct. Some people who want negative answers will not accept anything that says different from what they want to hear.

Right, we stood in line for ****ing hours and paid $300 and signed another 2 years of our lives to AT&T's ******-ass network so we could go home and immediately enjoy hearing all the negative things about it.

That is just the most absurd statement I've ever read.

That grip is exactly how I hold the phone to my head with my left hand and how I use the touch screen. It's not squeezed any harder than to secure the phone.

Personally I think people who hold their phone like a tea cup look like fools.

Me cave man. Me pick up new phone, new phone drops call.

They didn't say, btw, that the iPhone 4 has better signal with the attenuation, as you suggested.
