Wow, my little orange 'ohi'a busted out a blossom today. And I really love those superwide shots with a flower or whatever right up in your face. So grab the D800 and 14-24 and get out there before it starts raining again. I love this lens. I know everything there is to know about using it. I rule this lens.

What a shot! Orange blossom, yeah! Look at those leaves, too bad they're chewed up. And that Bougainvillea in the background, up at the top.

And down at the bottom?

Oh.

Perfect example for this thread :) So much I love/hate about this. It's a flower pic, but so poorly done. Not sure where to even begin. The subject doesn't fill the frame and is lost in the composition. Too many leaves and not enough flower (and ugly leaves at that). The shallow depth of field gives a superficial sense of a "professional" photo with a blurred background. But the subject isn't really isolated as there are tons of extraneous detail also in focus. The color is washed out--the subject should "pop" as it's orange against a green background, but it doesn't. The inclusion of the foot at the bottom is almost gratuitous--as if anything could make the image worse. Some of this could be corrected in post, but a stellar example of a shot a novice might take, in this case shot with great gear. Well played.

Actually I like this one. The perspective is quite wacked.

more on the way

for now

a failed reflecto-prop, a half shut pair of eyes and bad metering

a failed composition all the way, props, metering, focusing, everything. I never made a descent photograph of this subject

I agree. Needfxs second one is not bad enough. It has atmosphere and looks creepy weird.

That foot on the bottom is just the icing on the cake.
Truly terrible shot. Bad in many ways. Thx for sharing.

Now for something really bad!! :D Struggling with my first DSLR and metered for the background lol!
At least the failed lighting and metering draws away the attention from the guys facial expression :D

Here is one I took on a trip to Italy last fall. At the Vatican while on a tour. The tour guide said "take pictures from this great vantage point before we move on." It wasn't a great vantage point in any sense. But snapped something anyway. The subject isn't interesting and the composition is horrible. To make things worse, I exposed for the building in the distance which made the foreground horribly underexposed. Granted that could be "fixed" in post, but the composition is just so bad that nothing can really salvage it.
ImageLeica M (240). 35mm Summilux lens @ f/5.6, 1/360 sec, ISO 200.
No need to elaborate so much. Your image speaks for itself. Truly hideous.
I really dislike the lame composition.

All pretty bad, but your subjects are just too interesting.

The best image yet from my tilt-shift lens and full-frame combo... It must have been a Canon thing, well, that's what the Nikon shooters keep saying... Maybe I need to shift to a better Sigma body?

Yeah, just to add insult to injury, I took it while he was still talking! :) Surprised you noticed!

Trying to think about what I could say about your tree … :D

There is so much that I don't like about this photo. Shot with my 60d and Canon 24-70 f/2.8 L.

I try to never post the really bad stuff, because if I never post it, no one will know how crappy my photos can be :) (if you go through my flickr and conclude that my photos suck, imagine the crap that gets left behind!)

That said, this photo makes me cringe every time, because I love the colour and the scene, but I left the camera (fancy pants X100S) on auto and it picked a fast shutter + large aperture combo, which is completely wrong for this shot. I knew I wanted the corals on the shore to be sharply in focus, and that's what I aimed at, but I did not realize until a week later when I got home how blurry the background turned out :(.

Plus the whole composition is kind of... It could be so much better. I guess I'll have to revisit ;)

Moral of the story: sometime aperture priority seems like a great idea.

Maybe it's just me, but normally any of my more horrible RAW files never see the light of day. I either delete them on the camera, or when I load them to Lightroom I will delete them.

... no redeeming feature there!

... thats too overexposed. One can only imagine the bad compostion here. try fixing it in Lr.

Oh!

I wish I could show you.

I was photographing white swans on a pond with snow in the background so it was already stupid bright content and then I accidentally without realizing it (because it was so bright out, bright sunlight and couldn't see the screen of the camera very well) hit the ISO to 12800 (I still am unsure how I did that) and.....

"Why are all these shots pure white?" Luckily the pics were taken in raw but...

I managed to reduce exposure to make them usable but they're kind of grainy in a beginner-ish way.

I should do everyone a favour and find a different hobby

Noooooooooooo!

Your creative stuff is great. Just need to keep on shooting!

Agree. That's why I have 12 photos in my library. :D

Eight exposures of the Stratosphere Tower on film. Yes the tower is in there somewhere. The clouds, however, turned out pretty interesting.

:eek::eek::eek:

Perhaps he's just trying to tell us his worst picture is better than most people's best?

:eek::eek::eek:

I really found these two pics to be horrid aesthetics wise and a complete waste of gear. also, my complete library is at work, and I was at home when posting, so defintely not the case. I've got about 3Tb's of lousy shots, so don't fret, my worse is hideous. you've been warned.

I shot this last week at the Ocean City Boardwalk. I wanted it to be "cool", but the daylight is all wrong and you can barely see the lights on. It's just plain boring to me.

Kinda boring, but the colors on the wagons and overall sharpness is too appealing.

pretty ******, but too artsy imo.
Especially the fact that this was shot on film is too interesting.
