And are those people having battery issues with their Samsung chip phones?

Yeah they are, they get 28% less battery. You know why they didn't say anything? Because they didn't know it until now. Just get two people with each chip and play a game until the battery dies.

Honestly I could careless just jumping the bang wagon.

he just says many people play games, for example, to/from work and would be glad for another 1-2 crucial hours.

And as usual, most won't understand that these tests do NOT represent real-world use and aren't a great indicator of actual performance during typical use.

MacRumors continues to promote this because it drives clicks and web traffic.

How about someone who thinks this isn't a big deal (that has the TSMC chip inside theirs) trade me for my Samsung one? (only ran the samsung/TSMC app and reset, factory Apple plastic is still on it)

No takers? Thought so!

Again, I'm asking if people are noticing this in real world usage not a geekbench test.

I presume if you check your mails this will not change but as soon you open a game or install an ad blocker this will have an impact...
ad blocker? Why would that have a large impact on battery?

Uhhm maybe a dumb question i'm asking now but how can I see from which factory I have a chip ?

just curious that's all :D

Run Lirum Device Info if your CPU has mAP then its a TSMC (something like that)

I'm the only one to see 22% less battery with samsung chip for intense tasks? I presume if you check your mails this will not change but as soon you open a game or install an ad blocker this will have an impact... Sorry but I wait the next one :) which by miracle will have only one chip inside...

If you're seeing a difference like that something is insanely wrong with your device or install. You shouldn't see any noticeable difference.

And how are you even able to claim you notice such difference? You're doing the EXACT same task with the same steps on 2 identical devices in a controlled environment? Really doubting it.

Hopefully this will put the other threads to bed. But... I highly doubt it.
No way will it stop. So many here just thrive on the hysteria, contribute to and create it, and just plain love to moan and groan for reasons that a psychiatrist could fill a book with. How very sad. If only they would direct their energies to more constructive endeavors. But alas, then their lives might be quite empty.

I don't get why people think this isn't an issue. One chip gets substantially worse battery life when performing heavy workloads. Ars did little other than show the initial testing was accurate and there is a good version and a bad version when dealing with high CPU loads.

It may not be an everyday occurance, however I certainly don't want the phone with crap battery life when I am stuck keeping myself busy in an airport or on a trip playing games.

If given the choice between the two devices, would anyone say "Oh it doesn't matter, I'll be fine with inferior device for the next two years". Hell no, everyone would take the one that had slightly better battery life most of the time and substantially better battery life with certain tasks. Apple and developers are only going to make more complex games and apps over the product's lifespan, starting off with the worse of the two chips doesn't seem like a great idea.
This...

I can't understand people who claim this is not a big deal. It concerns the SOC for crying out loud...

No one would take your offer, not because of the CPU, but because you've used it. I don't know what you did or didn't do to your phone. That's a terrible offer. For all I know you got it wet and will stop working in 2 months and I'm boned....

If you and I walked into an Apple Store at the same time to buy our 6S's, then I wouldn't care which one I got. I'd just be happy I can afford an iPhone 6S and gladly use the crap out of it.

This is seriously #FirstWorldProblems

I don't see why anyone with the Samsung chip would be upset.
Because it's all in their head and they need to be very childish about this. I have the TSMC chip in my 6s+. If anyone with the Samsung chip wants to trade, so that they feel they can continue with their lives, I'll do so. But first they must prove that their lives are destroyed and meaningless because they have the Samsung chip and that they didn't initially jump for joy over having the samsung chip before these latest absurd tests were revealed.

All I know is that I had battery problems on my Samsung chip iPhone but they went away after PB4 of iOS 9.1... Going to be away all day on Wednesday so we'll see if PB5 acts the same way.

One thing I know for sure is that no matter what I do, the 6S Plus will always have worse battery life than my 6. It's just a matter of knowing the difference between the two. If it's like 30 minutes or so, big deal. If it's 2-3 hours worth of battery life difference from the 6 then we have a problem (only noticed this when I came home one evening and the phone was down to the low 30s despite moderate usage on LTE).

Why? You'll never notice any difference. I could tell you that you have the other chip and you'd gladly accept it and stop crying like a little baby.

People are allowed to cry like babies if they want who are you to tell someone what to do?

Actually the 6s Plus should blow away a 6s in battery life.

Nothing to see here. My wife has a TSMC 6S and she just mentions that it doesn't last as long as the 6 did.
