Cool! My AAFES order shows shipped!

I ordered a White iPad 32GB WiFi only from AAFES.com They were not available to order until 5PM and I don't think I placed my order until about 6PM CT and the wait was already 2-3 weeks and their page showed shipping early April.

I just checked my order and it shows shipped! The tracking number shows estimated delivery is 3/21! Not bad for a 2-3 week wait and I only paid $589 with no tax.

Yeah, I wasn't expecting it to be this earlier. I ordered another one from B&H with the intention of cancelling the AAFES order, but they shipped before I could. Now I have two on the way (one today, and the other monday)... I have to either sell one or return it.
 
I just checked AAFES.com and they're now saying it'll be a 6-8 week wait. I didn't even think to check there initially since it seems, in general, the BX has been gradually going downhill for the last several years. Congrats to the OP, though!

EDIT: nevermind I didn't realize they had a $10 discount.

I would definitely try to sell it first. It might be an easy way to make a couple bucks. If nobody bites, then return it and you still aren't out anything.

Black 16gb wifi only for $625! It's a steal! :D

I posted it on craigslist to see if anyone bites. I love my iPad 2 but If I could make 80 bucks in the process (plus the $50 savings for when I buy it tax free) I could easily go without for a week or two. I got the whole "I NEED IT ASAP!" out of my system. But if it doesn't sell, then I'm still happy because I don't need to go without my iPad :) Win, win!

Hey are there any AAFES udates? I ordered mine about 5:20 on 11 Mar with an expected 20 Mar shipment. That's was Sunday so nothing yet.

I'm waiting till my Exchange has them in store. I bought an ipad 2 on launch day. Used it awesomely for 1 week. Sold it yesterday on craigstlist for $80 more than I spent on it, and now will patiently wait till I get one tax free and at a $10 discount saving me $50. I'll have made $130 on this whole transaction. I just hope my exchange gets iPads within the next week or two :)

I know I didn't update this thread, but I ended up receiving mine on 3/17 instead! I have since sold it for a modest profit, but only after comparing it to my current on in regards to the screen. :D

You ordered your iPad 2 on what day? I ordered mine through aafes on March 14th around 6pm est. Still not shipped yet. I called today and was told it should ship around April 4 or 5. This is crazy. Have you received yours yet or is it confirmed shipped?

If are referring to me... I ordered mine 3/11 around 6pm. Originally quoted 2-3 week wait, shipping the beginning of April. Instead it shipped 3/14 and was delivered 3/17.
 
Yep...I was referring to you. Like I said, I ordered mine on the evening of the 16th. I was quoted 14 days. On day 10 I noticed it still had not shipped so I called to see what was up. I was told it is back ordered and it will not even ship until April 4th or 5th. I am ticked. Hopefully I can find one at Bestbuy or Walmart and return the one I get from AAFES to whichever store I found one at.
 
:confused: I didn't even know AAFES was selling the iPad 2 on their website! I ordered from MacMall specifically so I could get it shipped to an APO address with no tax. Ah well. Still waiting for it to ship...seems the 64GB ones are taking the longest.

To the poster two above who is considering buying one and then returning the one he gets from AAFES-be careful, your receipt from Best Buy, or wherever, may include the iPad's serial number and that might prevent you from returning it.

FWIW target puts the serial number on the receipt also.
 
Gosh I am so upset with myself!!!

I waited in line at the Apple store on Day 1 because I had the "kid in the candy store" mentality and I didn't want to wait till the exchange got any in stock (which the employees were expecting a shipment sometime within the first week) and I didn't want to order it on the website either....

So I bought it, loved it, but saw an opportunity to make a quick buck. I had gotten the "I want it I want it!" out of my system so I ended up selling it on CL for an $80 profit, and that was after I'd been using it for 9 days. I figured the exchange should be receiving them within the next week or two, and then (with tax savings and $10 discount added in) I would have a total savings of $130 off what I originally paid.

The exchange employees kept saying that they were expecting iPad 2's at any time, but they had no idea when they would arrive. But now suddenly they have taken down all their "iPad 2 coming soon!" signs and I asked about it and they aren't expecting any until June due to the Japan crisis.

So now it has been over 2 weeks and now the bomb has been dropped that I will have to wait over 2 MONTHS from now :( If I had only ordered it online on day 1... even If I had ordered it when I sold mine on March 20th, I would probably have it by now. but Now I was faced with the decision of waiting for them to arrive at the exchange, order them online from the exchange (6-8 weeks), or just give in and buy it at the apple store. But they are still sold out EVERYWHERE and have 2-3 week wait times!!! I can't win :(

Sorry, I just felt like ranting. At least I didn't start a new thread :p
 
Sucks. My AAFES got over a 100 in on launch day. Walked right in on launch day and picked up 2 for the family
 
This sucks

Well, I did order mine on the 14th of March and here is what I have been told. First I was told 2 weeks. Then I was told April 4th or 5th it should ship. Then I was told give it 2 more weeks. Now I am being told it will not even ship until the end of March. Thanks AAFES. They keep blaming it on the supplier, but as far as I am concerned, when I ordered it from AAFES, and was told 2 weeks, by AAFES, it is AAFES responsibility to get me that product in the agreed upon time frame.
 
AAFES order update. I ordered a 64 gb black wifi on March 15. A couple of weeks ago I was told it would ship during the first week of April. Today I was told now it won't ship until May. It was my understanding that it shipped directly from Apple so I called them. They couldn't help so I called AAFES and was told it ships from another vendor, not Apple, and that AAFES has stopped taking orders until the backlog of 5000 orders is caught up. This is really a poor job on AAFES' part.

I am curious if anyone who ordered from AAFES on March 14 or 15 has received their iPad 2.
