I'm here. Any other suggestions?

Yes, get the f**k off the internets and enjoy your trip :D

When I was there, I went to the statue of liberty. Didn't go up in it, but it was still worth seeing. I also went up in the Empire State Building and got a great view of the city. Times Square is also something worth seeing. We tried to avoid the stores we can go to back home, but we just had to see the giant Toys R Us. There's some awesome food in Little Italy too.

I suppose something very touristy would be to be one of those crazy people who stands outside The Today Show early in the morning. We went to that area, but later in the day when it wasn't as crowded. And if you're lucky, you may get to snap a picture of some important, amazing, breaking news on the ticker like I did:

yes, that was the very first time I found out. My family and I were walking along and I saw that and was like "HOLY SH*T APPLE'S GOING INTEL!" and they thought I was nuts :D

museums, museums, museums. If you come from a place without many great museums, then prepared to be blown away. My favorite is the museum of natural history. And if you want to have your mind blown away, go to the rock show at the planetarium. It's way way way beyond the old planetarium laser rock shows of the past.

Go see some live music at a jazz club. If you go to the well known ones then it'll be easy to find, the music will be great, and you'll walk out with a much lighter wallet. If you're willing to look even just slightly further to find a less well known jazz club, then you'll find the music is even better, and you'll still be able to afford your mortgage payment afterwards.

Cheap + amazing = definitely, definitely take a trip on the staten island ferry. It's completely free and gives you stunning views of manhattan, brooklyn and queens. It's a 30 minute trip on a huge ferry with outdoor balconies you can hang out on, or stay inside if you're a wimp and not able to withstand the chilly air you'll encounter on the water at this time of year.

XS, or any other huge virtual reality video game arcade.

Shows:

> Blue man group - a super fun romp through bizarre performance art and includes some audience participation

> Stomp - cool rhythm based performance art

> Avenue Q - wild wacky adult comedy puppet show

> any broadway show, if that's your bag of tea

And if you go to brooklyn which is just a few minutes away by subway, a whole other world opens up.

Coney island even at this time of year is worth going to, even if only to see what remains of classic coney before it gets totally destroyed and replaced by some homogenous disneyland knock off that's being built this summer. I think that the cyclone rollercoaster might even run year round, so you could go for the most insane thrilling rollercoaster ride of your life on the world's most famous rollercoaster.

And so much more! Order a copy of the magazine TimeOut New York to arrive at your house in the week or two before you arrive. That magazine is chock full of going ons, current events, and things to do and see in new york.

And oh yeah, have fun! :D
