And yet, Samsung, the chief copycat, chose not to offer 3D Touch or anything like it in their latest phone.

That, to my mind, speaks volumes as to the worth of the feature.

Yes because Samsung has such an unbelievable, sterling track record when it comes to software decisions.

I don't know. Seems like a stretch calling it a copy.

Everyone copies. Big whoop, wanna fight about it?

I often wonder why people think patent suits stifle innovation, but don't think the same about copying. How exactly does (lazily) copying ideas contribute to innovation?

Doesn't look at all like an iPhone, has is really got that bad that you need to use clickbait titles to drive more people to the site?

I love this site, but I have to agree with this one. I really couldn't care less about Android phones, even if they looked exactly like iPhones. And this one doesn't look much like an iPhone, aside from the fact that it has a screen and comes in the same colors as an iPhone.

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Gionee debuted its Gionee Elife S8 at Mobile World Congress this week, and the new device mimics the iPhone in both look and functionality.

They're not talking about the aesthetic look of the hardware, they're talking about the 3D Touch rip-off.

This isn't about the phone's exterior it's about 3D touch.

Sure reads that way to me! /scratcheshead

The author is referring to the phone's software, which blatantly rips off certain iOS features.

Here's todays reality... no matter what any one of the phone makers do, they're all going to copy each other at this point. Apple just needs to keep working at offering the best overall experience and they'll be fine.

even those copycats managed to slim down the redic bezel of the phone. iPhone 7 better got rid of them at least on the sides

Is there anybody using 3D touch functions? No, I don't.
Just because you don't use it (do you actually own hardware that does support it?), doesn't mean nobody else does. I actually use it a lot. If I had endless time on my hands I would probably also choose not to use it.

I don't know. Seems like a stretch calling it a copy. There was one company (can't remember the name) that copied the apple marketing to a T; now that was hilarious.
I think you're thinking of Xiaomi

The first thing I thought when I saw this phone was that it looked exactly like an iPhone. And that it looked like an exact copy of 3D touch, which Apple invented. And, it looked like an exact copy of a phone, which apple invented. AND, it looked like it had an exact copy of an LCD screen, which Apple invented.

Apple should just buy China and stop all of this madness.

Even though the article states that Apple didn't do touch 3D first...you consider this as copying? Apple not doing it first is called.....?
