Then let's hear them get criticized for not being "green" enough!
 
New MB's and MBP's

I really don't see anything coming out soon. In terms of a product refresh, ie
new cosmetic changes to accompany the C2D, MW07 is in a few months and
that would be the best platform to announce it. Apple is still selling MB's
and MBP's like hotcakes. The few everyone hears from on this forum are
less then .1% of Apple user's, the other 99.9% are busy working. The
.1 percenters you keep hearing from on this forum have waaaay too much
time on there hands.

You cant bring it out Jan at MWSF that is a consumer show not Pro!!

it needs to be out soon because everyone else has Core 2 Duos

Are you drunk? Or just strange? I was at the internet café yesterday and it was full of those game-playing kids that dress in black and yell at screens and they talked exactly the way you type. 😛

Its mainly about the fact that the Macbook Pro is poor value for money as it stands - the Macbook which came out much later is much better value for money. It stands to reason that a revision of the MBP will also be better value for money.

Hmmm... Will probably be flamed for this one but anyway 😀

I feel that my post was fully justified. I was talking about real life scenarios and still stand by my comments on processor usages and ram. 64 bit windowed applications, the ones that mainstream users will use, will start to appear after the introduction of Leopard next year but don't you think that they will take a while to take off?? But seriously 64 bit number crunching apps would be more suited to desktop machines anyway.

The main issue that Apple is trying to overcome is heat. The Macbook Pro runs hot enough as it is and it is pretty obvious that the way it is cooled is only just effective with the current model. Putting a Core 2 duo in it (running your 64 bit apps at full processor utililisation 🙄 ), a newer model graphics card and up to 8 gigs of ram will only add to that. A re-design of the cooling system is what's needed to accommodate new components .

Maybe a new form factor is around the corner....

Apple, i REALLY hope this wait is for more than for Core 2 Duo. A DL SuperDrive BTO option will make me buy Gen. A. Seriously, it will....How about a firewire 800 port? no?

heh when it comes to the MBP its more like a cooking platter (or what ever you call those plug in single element stoves)

the MB isnt as bad as the MBP tho when it comes to heat (im thinking its cause of the metal case on the MBP transfers the heat more to the case

Hey.. you never know.

For all you know Microsoft may suddenly show up with a court injunction saying that Apple stole code in OSX and they have to stop operating with immediate effect 🙄

The 64bit issue - People simply want value for the money when they buy their computer. They want to know that their computer is forward compatible with the things that they know are coming out in the future, namely OS 10.5. That goes especially when they are about to pay premium for a quality product and know that other companies already sell the core 2 duo.

So some people want a computer as soon as possible while still getting the best value, so they are waiting. That's their decision. You needed a computer right away, and I guess you've justified that to yourself, and that's ok too.
 
I'd like to know where the people went who claimed to have inside scoop, the ones who posted that they'd be released at or around Photokina. I remember specifically one guy saying something like "you'll see, I can't tell you how I know, but you'll see". I'd like to give a bit of information for people who think they are "in the know".... just because your 18 year old buddy works at an Apple store, doesn't mean he has inside knowledge. An Apple salesperson who not only sells on the floor, but who also cleans the bathroom at night does not know anything.

Among several good reasons, I think the 4MB L2 Shared Cache in the 2GHz and up C2D is among the best of reasons to want a Merom inside. That should make for a much snappier feel most of the time. 🙂 It's also why I would steer clear of anything less than 2GHz in the C2D family.
 
Oh maaaaaaan.....if the C2D MBPs don't come out by the end of october, i will probably not buy a Mac until Jan 07! Specially since i will be on vacation in december.
Its disappointing.
 
Is there another show-type-thing coming up any time soon that they may say something about the C2D MBP's?

I am forced to buy something before the end of November, so my time is limited. Appleinsider said before thanksgiving yea? When is thanksgiving...? (Australian here, I don't even know what the hell the day is for 😀) Is it mid/late November? I hope so 🙁

Nothing on the schedule until Macworld in January.

But they really don't need a show or special event just to announce upgrades. Remember, when they upgraded the iMac to Core 2 Duo they just updated the store and site, and that was it (and heck, that even included a brand new 24" iMac). Simple processor upgrades of the MBP don't warrant or need a special event.

Well at the end of "It's Showtime" Steve said "See ya'll soon" so did he mean before MWSF?
