I'd like to say that can't be true, but given the breadth of the companies who recalled batteries, it just might affect it. I submitted my request for new battery the day the recall was announced, and it's not shown up yet... granted the volume needing replacement is large, and granted they claimed this upfront, so I'm not really upset about it...

With Apple actually, usually a new product announcement like this would coincide with immediate or at least relatively soon shipping. Apple generally doesn't usually announce a product well in advance of it actually being available, because they don't want to have a negative impact on current sales.

Thanksgiving is November 23 Generik Has Hijacked "Full Laptop Refresh By Holidays?"
That Full Laptop Refresh By Holidays? thread has been hijacked by a Windoze Troll by the name of Generik. The guy is full on about how great Sony Vaios are and what crap Apple makes with limited selection and that Apple should license OS X so anyone can run it on any Intel PC. It's really quite sad how much he is dominating that thread now. The guy is like a Japaneese Kamakazie. Crazy. 😱 😡 He just repeatedly attacks anyone who replies to him.

Apple will be mad to not update before thanks giving, my local non-apple apple store in UK has had no MBPs for 3 weeks. They are hoping within 2 weeks.

Iremember an employee at the mac store telling me that they can see shipments coming to the store 7 days in advance... And although they can't see what is being shipped to them... They can often make decent guesses...so if none of the stores show substantial shipments coming in then we may be more than 7 days from new mbps

Not sure if this was posted (i decided to skip reading the 12 pages of posts) but Best Buy (who now sells MBs and MBpros) just removed the MBpros from thier online store.
I called the store close to me and I had them search as well. The rep was just as supprised as I was that the MBpros weren't on there.
In so far as I am looking to buy a new MBpro, I think I going to wait till the end of the month now. (Also, has anyone had good experience with the bestbuy replacement plan and replacing macs?)

I freaked, as I thought the coverge was only 3 years. Come to find out it was 4. Called em, and a local authorized repair shop came to check it out. They ended up taking it back to the shop. The warranty company called 2 days later and said BB would be delivering a new one, and the old one was "beyond repair".
As it relates to MBP's, I don't know. But the coverage should be the same. Either that, or they sell you Apple Care instead.

Just as a random example, the Toshiba P105-S9312 (a Core Duo gaming laptop) disappeared from the Best Buy site. A few days later, the Core 2 Duo P105-S9722 was announced, and the new model is now available on their site instead.

Isn't the Core Duo still a viable product? I believe all manufacturers are still selling it in current models. The Core 2 Duo is the newest kid but that doesn't mean the Core Duo is incapable of running 100% of what is out there today.
I think more accurately, what Apple is doing is charging too much for their current products. For the price, Apple should have a faster GPU and the newer CPU, but they could still quite reasonably offer the Core Duo and Radeon X1600, if they adjusted their prices accordingly.
I just hate to see a good product like the Core Duo get a bad rap. It may be "older" but it is not down-and-out... 🙂
