2 cores supprting 4 threads is enough power for 99.9% of people out there.

I can't wait for the 32nm macbook. Have we heard anything yet processor frequencies yet? A 2.5GHz dual-core/4-thread sounds perfect for a macbook. Hopefully DDR3 support will be bumped up to 1333MHz. I don't think 1066MHz DDR3 running at 7-7-7-20 or higher offers enough performance to justify the jump to DDR3 yet.

From what I've seen, you need 1600 to really get the gains. Right now, it's just about power savings. I agree about the cores comment. Too many people want power for the sake of power without knowing the costs and benefits provided.

haha are you referring to the die size of the CPU or the actual thickness of the next Macbook? :D

Don't give Ive and the other fashion idiots at Apple any ideas!

Tell them that good number of their core supporters would like a 1.6" thick 10 lb quad core mobile workstation - not anorexic bling.

A lot of people can't or won't pay for the expensive Mac Pro, the Mini is perceived as a toy, and many people don't like all-in-ones for valid reasons.
Im currently a Windows User, and would like to buy a Mac.

I think you just hit the nail on the head for me and alot of other users, I dont want an all in one because I cant "upgrade it" easliy, and I dont want to pay for a Mac Pro, so I feel forced to buy a Macbook Pro 17" and I dont really want a Laptop.

Yes, if Apple added a true professional portable workstation to the lineup, and didn't cripple it by making it the "thinnest and lightest quad core laptop in the world."

I could not agree more!

If by possible you mean downgrading the low-power graphics, that's exactly what I would expect from Apple.

You know I hope they dont because its one thing im waiting for an update for, if they do im sticking with Windows 7. (which I'd rather not)

I know some of you will think what on earth could you need a faster graphics option for?

Well if im playing 3k for a computer I want it to have current gen hardware and for me the graphics are important factor, especially with more games coming to the Mac from EA and such :)

I mean nothing by it im just saying :apple:

The "just saying" line is awful - does it mean that you can type pure garbage, and then distance yourself from it?

I think that "just saying" means that everything preceding it should be ignored...

"I'm just saying..."

A phrase that is used when someone is offended by something you said.
This phrase then removes all the offensiveness of the previous statement,
making it all good.

Dudey: That chick has nice tits!
Patty: Tits! I thought you were gay!
Dudey: I'm just saying...
Patty: Oh. Ok...True dat.

just saying
a phrase used to indicate that we refuse to defend a claim we've made---in
other words, that we refuse to offer reasons that what we've said is true

Well. Im just trying to avoid conflict on a website from what i've read people seem to like to conflict, infact by doing that I have attracted conflict from yourself, so guess that idea went tits up.

EDIT: and being a new poster to this site, I didnt want to offend or what not, also I mentioned GAMES and MAC togeather which seems to bring alot of flack from forum users, dont think any different of me because I currently use a Windows PC.

Don't worry, people will flame regardless of the topic or how you post. ;)

The "just saying" bit, though, was triggered by Jon Stewart's poke at the "Just Saying" bits on CNN.

The CNN stuff is so stupid that I'd be embarrassed to use the "just saying" cliché in any post ;) ....

Ouch! Hehe anyways... I was wondering where this thread came from (got revived at the perfect time). I really hope Apple does make the first jump for those quad-cores but then I have a feeling it would be a big feat to accommodate them.
Perhaps Apple has generated an incentive to do so through the introduction of GCD - the quad-cores would certainly fit the bill for demonstrating and realizing GCDs capabilities.

How about a desktop processor in an actual desktop, not an all-in-one!

Yes.. like a Mac Mega! Like a mini but way more powerful with easily upgradable HD and Memory. Maybe even a replacable video card for dual DVI/DP out... that's not a deal killer though.
