7.8 Billions of people on earth - the virus can spread out at rapid speed without knowledge - that's a really scary thought, it's time for international politician stick together and how to prevent such measure in the future.

Easy for politicians: take the stick, point to the other guy and say "It's his fault!" and then repeatedly apply the stick to his head with great force and rapid frequency.
That's how you solve 21st century problems.

Can none of you see the pattern? the Wolf has cried so many times I've stopped paying attention.

It's interesting you should use that example. You do remember what happened at the end of that story, don't you?

The wolf eventually shows up. Just like all of those Category 4/5 hurricanes are going to miss major population centers and fizzle out so that everyone who takes advice to evacuate are mere lemming fools... until a Hurricane Katrina hits and they're drowning their attics.

Enjoy your superiority.

Seems strange to be concerned about smartphone sales during an epidemic but okay
Instead of screaming how I can't buy a new iPhone, I'll be glad that there are no infections happening in the UK so far (there are four infected people, and over 100 people coming from China under quarantine, but there are no known infections in the UK so far, and that would be the thing that would worry me).
Yep, people are dying from this virus and all we care about is how it will affect sales. I suppose the Chinese worker is expendable as long as production continues at its regular pace.

It's the same reason Vox Media continues to republish their 2015 article (Ebola - if you check Google history, it's the same article but now that people caught on, they changed the headline, the subtitle, as well as key points in the article) about how travel bans don't work (Coronavirus) even though in the very same article, their sources claim that in previous cases such as SARS, travel bans delayed the spread of the virus, giving researchers time to develop a cure/vaccine. Vox cares more about "diversity"/immigration and trade/business more than they do safety, health and the truth. But of course, that stupid article is being cited as fact now by websites like The Independent, etc.

There's no way China is accurately reporting the number of people that are affected by the virus.

Of course they're not, but there might be a bright side to that deception.

It seems strange that the fatality rate outside of China is so low (so far) when it's actually quite significant according to official Chinese numbers. One way that could happen is if they've vastly underreported the number of infections either because they don't want anyone to know how massively it spread or because they just don't have the means to do an accurate count and are only reporting the most serious cases that are at risk of developing life threatening complications.

I actually think it's funny that anyone takes these pandemic scares seriously. it's that time of the year folks! Time for the CDC to come up with a new disease that's gonna kill us all! It's every February too. Let's look at the list shall we, and none of it's complete or in order but here we go:

1. The SARS epidemic
2. Killer Bees going to come to the USA
3. Hanta Virus
4. Bird Flu
5. Pig Flu
6. Zika Virus
7. Ebola Virus
8. Mad Cow Disease
9. Should I even add Y2K???

Meanwhile I enjoy sitting back, munching some popcorn and watching the lemmings...

This is so dumb. You realize nearly all of those didn’t escalate because of the precautions and attention given by governments, the CDC/WHO etc right? Even with Y2K months of work was put into preventing anything from happening.

So you’re essentially complaining that people did their jobs too well and contained these things.

Then there's this argument that was widely used to claim they 'fixed' Y2K ^^^

Predictable, as always. Y2K was a hoax that was so laughable that the worst that could've happend was some dates being wrong on bank statements. Yet we had Y2K Compliant refrigerators and claims of secret missle silos launching Nuclear ICBMs and the like. It was hilarious. Ironically my old IBM PC XT just defaulted to Jan 1 1980 and I reset the clock.

90% of the doom about Y2K couldn't have happened anyway. Like cars not starting--the PCM of an automobile doesn't use dates or a real-time clock. Washing machines, deep freezers the same thing. I never will forget the stickers on all the appliances at the Kmart though.

Maybe some good will come of this? Perhaps the comeback of Made in USA? Less consumerism and environmental waste with a new phone release? A guy can hope...

Then by spring it's all over. We forget about it like we forgot about the others. The actual flu (not swine/bird but influenza) kills far more people yearly but no one makes such a scare about that!

Would normally agree with you, but in this case 8,000+ people die daily (and accelerating) and emissions from the crematorium running 24/7 in Wuhan shows up in satellite data. Don't ask me how I know, just sit back and see for yourself as it starts to unravel.

I will just say that another new disease will be killing us all come Jan/Feb 2021...Hey! I can predict the future!

What about the 'thousands' dying from so-called Swine Flu? OF course the real 'normal' flu kills more than that. But we hear nothing from the MSM about it. News hasn't been the same since Cronkite left. It's all about FUD, conspiracy, orange man (or bush man), and sensational hype.

Just wait till next year when it'll no doubt start all over again!

What was it last time? Zika?

Up until the virus started hitting, I was checking every day to see if the new iPad Pro was announced. I was getting a bit upset that it was not. Now that people are getting sick and a very small number are dying, it's just a bit of metal and glass.

Can you even look at history even a few years ago about all the "OMG we're all gonna die" diseases that ended up doing absolutely nothing? We're still here. It's the same thing every Jan/Feb. CDC comes up with a new scary name virus and claims it's a Global Pandemic and for a few months that's all the Media focuses on, and we see random folks wearing face masks.

Then by spring it's all over. We forget about it like we forgot about the others. The actual flu (not swine/bird but influenza) kills far more people yearly but no one makes such a scare about that!

The point is to prevent a new flu from becoming a permanent thing. Contain it, give those infected the care that they need, let it burn out.

I've noticed in many recent videos from China that there are body temperature check points all over the place . Some with People's Armed Police and doctors in scary looking biohazard combat suits clearly intended for the military . So , obviously there is a connection with a rise in body temp and corona virus .

Maybe Apple should give all their factory workers an iPhone with one of those health apps they always talk about and have the worker's body temp data sent to the factory office in real time ?

That should greatly reduce infections and allow iPhones and other products to be manufactured .

I see what you’re saying, but it’s ok to be excited for a new iPad and feel bad for the people getting sick / losing their lives. It’s definitely sad what’s going on, but I’m sure everyone in China wants things to go back to normal ASAP. Even those who have factory jobs. Gotta make a living.

I'll be honest, all these articles on the corona virus affecting factory workers are starting to melt together in my mind.

Ebola has been prominent in Africa for all these years and people barely talk about it anymore.

As a start, let’s all agree that it’s really, no yuuugely stupid to put a P4 bio-lab in the middle of a city with 11 million residents.

Like how CDC's BSL-4 lab is on the campus of Emory University in the middle of Atlanta? Or Boston University's BSL-4 NEIDL is in the middle of Boston? Or National High Security Laboratory in downtown Melbourne ? How about Bernhard Nocht Institute in Berlin?
