I'm a Costco member, and I do love Costco.
The fact that you can buy anything and then return it (electronics = 90 days) is just too awesome.

I purchased some baggage at Costco, within 10 months of using it, it broke, and i returned it, full money back, no question asked. One of the zippers broke. Thank you Costco.

I purchased some proximity sensor trashcans, and I lost the receipt. Broke a few months ago, Costco let me return it, put money on a gift card, and I got the same trash cans again, except their newer models.

My friend purchased a iPod Nano at Costco, didn't like it after a week, and returned it.

You don't even need to keep the box, as long as it's returned with all the parts that came with it, they will generally take it back.

I just wish they had a wider selection to purchase from, otherwise I just purchase their products and try it out, and return what I don't use or intend to keep.

I have 60 some odd days left before I need to return my PS3 move. :)

While you can return anything no questions asked, be careful. If you abuse the system, you'll get a refund of your membership fee with your last return.

I always shop at Costco. Their cheese roadshows are fantastic.

I personally couldn't care one way or the other about this. I have thought about buying an iPod Touch from Costco but in the end decided against it as I could find a better price through Apples refurbished selection.

Costco does have a great return and warranty policy for certain items and I like that.

I don't like it when they and other big businesses get involved in Washington State politics with their liquor initiative and other initiatives.

If you dont care, why are you complaining? Its quite apparent that you're willfully ignorant with your "do I care?" attitude, and have no understanding that stores stock or dont stock particular items because it doesnt fit with their business philosophy. You complaining that costco doesnt sell 64GB ipod touch for retail is as retarded as complaining that best buy doesnt sell groceries.
Again, I don't care about THE REASON that Costco decided not to stock a product, something that you apparently are trying to evangelize here. I just pointed it out that they didn't have the 64GB Touch in stock, and I decided to buy it elsewhere. Period. That's what people would do when Costco stop stocking iPods, they would just go get their toilet paper, etc, and go somewhere else to buy iPods. Costco still gets their money from the membership and sales of other products, Apple still gets their sales too (look at iPads sales, and Costco doesn't even sell those). Consumers don't care about Costco's business strategy. They pay for membership, they shop, if they don't find what they want, they'll find it elsewhere.

What's your problem anyway?

Im not evangelizing anything. YOU are bringing up a complaint that is due to your willful ignorance. Costco sells things for less than retail. If they cant do that, then they dont sell it. end of story. If you understood this, then you wouldnt have brought up your complaint in the first place.

What's your problem anyway?

I dont have a problem, you do. I tried to explain to you why costco doesnt stock 64gb ipods, and your reply is "I dont care why."

If someone complained that they couldnt buy a $5000 Sony HDTV at walmart and you explained to that person why, and he replied "I dont care why" who's the one with the problem?

Here's a better analogy. A person went to Bestbuy, saw Bestbuy selling iPods, but not a particular model, and the person posted it here. Then you came along calling the person ignorant for not understanding the way Bestbuy does business. Who has a problem again?

I pointed out an experience, doesn't automatically make it a complaint. I'm trying to point out how a regular consumer couldn't care less about whatever reason Costco has for not stocking a product. If they see Costco doesn't stock it, they shop elsewhere. How many time do I have to say that? The fact that you keep going back around calling me ignorant and continue with your reasoning of Costco's business strategy is what led me to believe you are trying to evangelize this in one way or another, and the regular consumer couldn't care less about that. All they see is whether a retailer have a product that they wanted or not.

That's a stupid analogy. Best buy is in the business of selling a wide variety of electronic devices. So of course it would be strange that best buy does not sell an ipad, which is a very popular electronic device.

Costco is not an electronics retailer. Costco is in the business of selling high quality products at good prices. That could be anything from a diamond ring to prime ribeye beef. If it cant be sold at a good price, its not sold at costco. You say you understand this, yet you complain when something isnt sold at costco. So yah you're the one with the problem.

I pointed out an experience, doesn't automatically make it a complaint.

Well you started off with "my problem with costco..." Sure sounds like a complaint to me.

In the end, I think Apple and Costco will settle their differences and we will see Apple products at Costco stores again. But instead of the iPad, Costco will get the real prize: the iPhone 4.

Um

You do realize Costco's well known in the business for dropping items they see their competition getting better deals on where they weren't consulted. This is business as usual, and Costco wants to tell its distributors to remember they're important.

When costco has low prices, this is a key reason.

Today is the last day iTunes cards will be sold at Costco locations, according to story on iLounge. iPods will continue to be sold at Costco until their current inventories are exhausted.

I went to my local Costco Thursday, and they had eliminated their Idevice endcap display, and just had a few Ipods and some mostly empty gift card displays nearby.

Seems consistent with your report.

I don't know about other non-US territories, but in Japan, Costco has been selling iPhone since the 3G, and already sell iPhone 4. Actually they have a Softbank booth in the store (the Japanese network that has the iPhone deal) and do it that way. Perhaps the dispute in the US is due to objections from AT&T or another iPad seller?

Too bad. Costco is much more ethical than Walmart (owner of Sam's). They pay decent wages and give their employees health benefits. I'll never step foot in a Walmart, but I shop Costco time to time.

Yes everyone who works at Costco is living high on the hog.

LOL.

You really believe that Costco pays a significantly higher comparable payrate to equal level employees as say Sam's Club...

Here is a suggestion.. Someone making 9.89 an hour instead of 9.72 an hour is not paying a decent wage compared to an indecent one.

Discounted

I used to buy discounted iTunes cards there. It was enough of a discount that it offset the sales tax and then they had a black Friday special every year that was just plain awesome. This pretty much sucks.:(
