Everyone knows Siri. I can't see how everyone calling for Apple to change the name somehow means the AI assistant will be better, just because it has a different name

They need to ditch the name. Siri has been a joke for years now. Rip it up and start over.

Would have been cool if they made some improvements and also added voice camera control, so you can say “siri, click the shutter” without having to click buttons. Would work like a voice remote, especially good for night photos

Siri is a tarnished brand. It's been the punchline to a joke in at least a decade.

Apple Intelligence was DoA and was a foolish way to try and co-opt the AI acronym by letting people know that 'our' AI is different...

...it's different alright in that it barely exists and is barely competent.

So yeah, time to quietly put Apple Intelligence as a thing out of its misery.

My bet:
To replace Siri:
Just go for 'Apple' or let users choose from a variety of names.

Yeah, Siri could be one of them for those.

Only do this when 'Siri' actually works.

Or better still, just let Gemini as our personal assistant. Humiliating for Apple but they're getting lapped.

And hey, the original iPhone had Google (and Yahoo) as the only 3rd party services, so there is precedent.


Apple Intelligence - 'powered by Apple AI' or just 'powered by AI'

No apple intelligence was a great idea, my guy. good. It’s different than the rest because of privacy as the main focus…based off non-invasive data sets (? Hopefully…)

When it was announced didn’t they even say new features were coming which is a nice way of saying this is just the beginning. Right now it ain’t really s4it. haha

I do agree with the second half of allowing name changes. Good stuff right there.

I like sisi or “s4itforbrains” just to be funny, not because I dislike Apple/siri/apple intelligence (in fact couldn’t be further from the truth 💪🏾)

Maybe it’s not a bad idea. Seems to have worked well for Mac.com/MobileMe/iCloud.

Double-edged sword. There's too much invested in the name Siri to change it, but it's so tarnished in the public's eyes that I see little likelihood that people give it a second chance.

In my experience, I find Siri to be 99% useless. It's inaccurate, rarely understands anything you ask it, and more often than not just wants to send you to a web page for answers when it does.

There's little chance I ever take it seriously in the future, no matter what they say they've done with it.

Yep...Siri is disabled on all my devices. Nothing personal, but, between voices I do not like and a high fail rate, I gave up.

Connect it to chat G what’s the issue?..

I’m sure there are many of us, perhaps most of us here in the MacRumors forums, who would prefer to avoid teaching the members of our households a new activation phrase. I really hope they keep the Siri name and just make it better in all the ways it is needed.

They keep going on about that failure of Apple Intelligence features. But I would say bulk of phone buyers do not care about AI. I would also argue that Apple has not failed as they have not spent billions like Google and MS rolling out version after version of various AI tools that investors are going to want a return on and that the paying public may not be will to pay for.
