I dont need two phones per se, but i just like to switch between my 12 mini and SE2 every now and again. Love touch id on the SE and the full screen of the 12 mini, but cant have both at the same time! I know sounds weird but its just something i like to do.

Nah, it's just funny watching you guys try every excuse to explain the poor sales. There's an obvious lack of critical thinking because most of the theories thrown around don't go deeper than the surface level. What's more, you guys are trying to argue against Apple's decision next year to discontinue the mini. Maybe you thought of something that the leadership team behind a $2T company missed? Probably not.


"Maybe it was the pandemic!"

• The 6.1" and 6.5" models were best sellers even before the pandemic. Reviews praised the battery life on those models. Consumers prefer better cameras on the bigger models when they're outside and travelling.

"Maybe it was too expensive!"

• There has always been a $100 gap between similar models since the iPhone 6/Plus was launched.

"The SE ate all the mini sales!"

• Apple confirmed during an earnings call the SE attracted a lot of first-time users, notably Android switchers. These are not small form factor seekers.

"Adding a third camera to the mini will improve sales!"

• Ignoring the engineering challenge of adding a lens to a tiny chassis, no leadership team would agree to increase the price of an already poor selling product.

Q1 the iPhone 12 Pro Max ONLY sold 2 million more units than the iPhone 12 mini.

but the mini is overpriced. The mini’s production was reduced. The mini isn’t worth it for Apple.

No idea where you came up with that number, but it's obviously incorrect. Common sense alone should tell you that number is way off the mark. Again, lack of critical thinking seems to be a common theme in this thread.

355 million smartphones were sold in Q1'21. The iPhone 12 Pro Max represents 14 million. Apple couldn't even sell 4 million iPhone 12 minis.

1) You mentioned Q1, yet you're posting a picture of calendar year 2020 global sales estimates.

2) Everybody knows the iPhone 12 Pro/Max was supply limited during the first few months. Tim Cook said they were supply limited during earnings calls. MacRumors had articles saying shipping dates slipped. The iPhone 12 mini didn't slip at all.

3) Why would you quote "USA" numbers when Apple sells globally? In the last earnings call, Tim Cook called mentioned "China" a dozen times. Your own screenshot refers to global sales.

You obviously have no idea what you're talking about.

It’s about doing more with the ever increasing processing power. The iPhone is becoming a general computing device, which means you need a larger display to do more. You ever try to do a Teams or Zoom call with someone sharing their display? It’s terrible on a small screen.

iPhone is daily essential but last year showed that we don’t need to be focused at only one device. Most of us use computers or tablets mostly and iPhone can fill only those moments we don’t sit behind the bigger screen. I think that mini will be OK in next year and in future ones even when new version will not come out.

I would welcome a mini that’s one or two Generations behind in processor snd camera but with slightly better battery life.
