Is This iOS 5? Dunno, But It’s Likely The Right Idea
http://techcrunch.com/2011/06/05/ios-5-real-or-fake/

Could it be? Is this it? iOS 5?! I honestly have absolutely no clue. But it certainly seems like it at least could have the right idea.

Before you go yelling “fake” on the obvious things, a couple notes. First of all, yes, 11:54 PM is in the future — in the United States. But if the Weather app is to be believed, this is clearly a European version of iOS (note the 23 degree Celsius in the icon instead of 72 degree Fahrenheit as you would see in the U.S.). Second, the Camera app icon is totally different, and looks a little odd being all-black, but who knows, maybe it’s changing. The icons are in the “correct” default order. Finally, if the talk of deep Twitter integration into iOS 5 is to be believed (we heard a bit, others have heard a bit more), it’s entirely possible that these new-style Twitter notifications could be working in iOS 5 right out of the box.

Side Note: if it is real, it looks like the Weather icon will remain the same with no live updating.

I think it's fake, but I agree with the article that it's a step in the right direction

It looks fake to me when I look at it closely. I wouldn't be to unhappy if this turned out to be real though.

It could just be a mockup made up by some random after reading all the rumors.

Why would someone go to the trouble of making a new camera icon if it's a fake? Seems real.

Althouh, the time is Helvetica and the notification seems to be Myriad which is odd.

Honestly, I don't know if its real or fake but yes it could be what is expected to release tomorrow. I hope it is. It is spicy.

While searching the App Store for a Camera app with a Black icon, this is the best that I can find, and even then the one in the image above looks even darker (but I only searched the US store, the image from TC is said to have been from another region).

I like it. The look is nice and simplistic while getting the job done. I sure hope this is real. I can't wait until tomorrow! The camera icon is the only weird thing about this picture that I can't get over. But whatever, it's only a few hours left anyway.

Plus, how is one supposed to know to which app a notification belongs. With Twitter, it's pretty clear and straightforward; everyone knows the bird. Not sure how it'd look with many other rather obscure apps though.

Otherwise, looks very very nice and Apple-style, in fact a lot nicer and more polished than Mr. Hajas's MobileNotifier, which is impractical and horrendous overall.

If I had thought it wasn't just a stock install I would say it's the highly popular Camera+. I think the idea is that's it is a stock install with no added apps.

The utilities folder also has 5 icons (default is 4 in iOS 4 iPhone 4).

Maybe with a miniature version of the icon? Or just the name listed? I was wondering the same thing. Every other notification system I've seen uses either of those two methods, so I would assume this uses one of those too.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5)

I'm hoping for something more - if this is truly iOS 5 then I don't understand all the hype.

That bar at the top of the screen maybe

gray is for notifications
blue is for tethering
green is for active phone calls

looks pretty real.

No one said it was gonna be a big UI overall, people just assumed that. Think of it like the update from Mac OSX Leopard to Snow Leopard: small cosmetic changes here and there, but most of the changes were under the hood. This is how I've been expecting IOS 5 to be the entire time. I never got the sense that there would be drastic changes (besides the notification system getting completely replaced).

I think the camera icon is darker probably because of a high aperture on the camera that took the photo.

I never claimed there was a big UI overhaul to be expected - I'm just expressing that Apple has been hyping iOS 5 and if the changes are minor (as with Snow Leopard which was a disappointment) then I'll be disappointed.
