My reply was nothing against you just stating that anything symantec says should just be ignored. How about you settle down? Anyways, with enough time money and effort anything and everything has a way to be compromised

Alright.

But I must say- just because their security products aren't very good doesn't mean that their analysis should be completely ignored.

Still, my original point to radiobooger still stands- the report did not ever state that iOS was completely secure, and he ought to stop thinking that.

That will do it. You haven't got a virus dude, the 3G just can't handle the newer firmware. Time to upgrade! :D

alright maybe im just used to my ipad 2 but i just want to figure out why my computer wont restore the phone threw itunes

Buddy, i have an iPhone 3G and i'm on 3.1.3, that's the optimum firmware for the iPhone 3G. Don't go to 4.2.1, i went down that path many times.

Also, iOS devices don't get viruses, Android phones do.

Completely agree, nothing is. Look at what Anonymous and LULZSec are doing.

Do you have any other usb devices connected to the laptop? I know people who cant have there printers connected at the sametime they try to sync there iphone, just doesn't happen.

Wishful thinking? Anything can, don't be crazy.

Oh please. Let's see, how many virus scanners are available on the android platform? Android is insecure and a horribly thought-out second rate phone OS. It's a nice OS if you can't have iOS.

Your probably have never used android in your life. Any item connected to the internet can get a virus. I bet your one of those people who thinks macs dont get viruses

Look at how many virus scanners are available for Windows, and yet it's surprisingly hard to get infected as long as you use common sense. Anything can get a virus.

From reading your post, I doubt you have the knowledge to make an informed accusation about Android and it's workings. We get it, you like your iPhone, why do you have to badmouth other peoples preferences?

I'm glad that you compared Android to Windows. They are both actually pretty similar. They are both poorly written pieces of software that get spammed on all sorts of crappy hardware. They both are horribly insecure and invite malware and viruses to take them over. They both are ugly, and both of them end up looking like someone's MySpace page after a user "customizes" them.

Lol, maybe when people let you use Windows it will look like a myspace account, when someone with a clue what they are doing gets their hands on it the results actually look good. I've used Windows all my life and in that time I've been infected only once, because I know what I am doing. The same goes for Android, it will obviously not work well for people who do stupid things with it and don't understand more advanced settings etc, but for those who can, it can be brilliant. One of the cool things about the iPhone is that everyone can use it as it is a simple and intuitive OS. Android is made for people who like to tinker and customize things to work better for them. Both have their place in the market.

Seriously?

Have you even gone back to the Symantec thread and read the official article? Stop being so hung up on Android having security flaws- iOS has just as many.

Thus, in the same way, I could say: "It's simple. Do you have a phone? If so, yes you probably have a virus."

Sound retarded to you? Yeah thought so too.

Finally a sensible response.

Completely agree, nothing is. Look at what Anonymous and LULZSec are doing.

And yet people still post things like "iPhone has full protection against malware attacks... Android has little"... sigh.

Oh please. Let's see, how many virus scanners are available on the android platform?

So just because there are virus scanners available = there are viruses? Then that must mean Mac OS X has viruses!

Android is insecure and a horribly thought-out second rate phone OS.

Isn't that just your opinion? My opinion here is "iOS is insecure and a horribly thought-out second rate phone OS." Sound retarded? Here we go again...

It's a nice OS if you can't have iOS.

Funny, how many iOS devices do you have? And how many Android devices have you owned?

You seem to be avoiding the above questions.

Your probably have never used android in your life. Any item connected to the internet can get a virus. I bet your one of those people who thinks macs dont get viruses

Exactly what I've been (trying to) say. His replies are all "Android has viruses omg there are virus scanners" completely disregarding the points brought up.

See above :)

I'm glad that you compared Android to Windows. They are both actually pretty similar. They are both poorly written pieces of software that get spammed on all sorts of crappy hardware.

Your opinion = fact again? My opinion is 'I'm glad that you compared iOS to OS X. They are both actually pretty similar. They are both poorly written pieces of software that get spammed on all sorts of crappy hardware."

Sound retarded? Yeah...

They both are horribly insecure and invite malware and viruses to take them over.

So as soon as you turn on a Windows-based PC they automatically download viruses? Where are you getting your facts?

They both are ugly, and both of them end up looking like someone's MySpace page after a user "customizes" them."

More opinions=facts again, eh?

So basically what you're saying is "I've seen some kid post up a horribly customized screenshot of his Windows based computer. Thus, all Windows based computers are horribly customized".

Does that sound ridiculous to you?

Finally a sensible response.

Thank you :)

(and before anyone downranks me for crapping on iOS and OS X- let me just say that they were only used to show the ridiculousness of his arguments above and that I actually like both OSes)

i dont know if its my computer or my itunes but the message says "the iphone cannot be restored at this time because the iphone software update server could not be contacted or is temporarily unavailable" called apple many times no one really helped

Have you been jailbroken before? I had a similar problem, drove me nuts, turned out I had to clean some entries out of my hosts file that one of the jailbreak tools had put there.

It's simple. Are you running Android? If so, yes you probably have a virus.
Funny with the security exploit you can jailbreak your phone from the internet. Sounds safe to you ? Imagine if you went to a website that had one of these. Bye - Bye iPhone
